What everyone is saying (between laughs) is that you need jeans closer to your actual size in order to get whiskers. Whoever advised you to size down 3 was very wrong, if you are a true 36 waist I would advise a 35 in 710's for a fitted look, you would even be safe with your true size as they shrink down considerably with hot wash and dry.
