I guess i'll try to build a network n shit, see where it takes me.. Thanks again:cool:

Thanks for the insights, but seriously is it that difficult to find a small decent job in Japan? whether the economy is good or not, a few of my friends who live in Japan right now say it's not too hard to start off, its finding the job you want after that can be a challenge due to the language barrier..

it took me forever to find a job here. i'm not gaijin and i speak both languages.

you're going to be fucking yourself over by getting some half-ass first job.. better to apply to places you actually want to work for as 新卒... but if you don't speak japanese i don't really think that's going to go over well unless you're trying for finance or something

Well at the moment, I'm currently looking into an advertising agency called Ogilvy.. There's an office which is located near the college Im currently attending.. They also have an office in Japan, so i'm thinking of making connections through there and hopefully transfer after my Co-op years are finished..

my main focus is that I want to work for a gaming company but work for the advertising side, like media design, creative design team, or Market research..

Learn how to make crazy 3D animation and square enix will hopefully hire you. Otherwise, itll be an epic failure.

The videogame industry is doing really shitty right now.

Late pass, on repeat, but yeah; every trip in the past six years I've just been withdrawing from the postal ATMs with my credit union debit/atm card. Normal withdrawl limits still apply, so pace yourself.

I just need moniez for NN and image clubs, nawwutimsayin?

Yea, i wholeheartedly agree on that. As of late, the game industry has been in a drought and frankly i'm a bit dissapointed..

E3 was a huge dissapointment, in my opinion probably the worst E3 i've seen in a few years.. I'm waiting for the tokyo game expo to see if any shit will be said about nintendo's releases and FF XII..

But to be honest with you, I've done animations and creative design.. I have 2 diplomas in 2d & 3d animation so I have the skill.. But I dont want to sit in front of a computer 24/7.. I like marketing/advertising

marketing/advertising is hard to break into unless you've done internships and stuff.. i had some friends with pretty much impeccable resumes who wanted to work in that field over here, and got denied by all the big international firms.. ogilvy, saatchi, bbh etc

Well one of my professors introduced me to one of the exec's at ogilvy in Toronto, so i'm trying to land a Co-op position there and hopefully land a full time position once school is done... Hopefully I could transfer once i've gained enough experience..

Once I get my foot in the door, shit wont be so hard..

But I will take your word for it Goo. Shit will be difficult but I think I can pull it off. Thanks again..

How you gonna market Japanese video games if you don't speak fluent Japanese.

That's like some inaka-hic coming to the US trying to market ford trucks to mid-westerners.

U stoopid?

Sales in Japanese be done with JAPANESE.

Doesn't matter u speak fluent JLPT 1 or some bullshit.

They want a guy named Tanaka or Suzuki or whatever with slanty eyes, pale skin, and buck-teeth in a 21 suit select suit dropping knowledge in keigo and bowing excessively to dipshit oji-sans who cheat on their wives every tuesday in ginza and smoke seven stars until their teeth fall out.

My Japanese isn't fluent, but I'm sure there are major gaming offices in Japan that are bilingual and would be pretty lineant in regards to hiring gaijins with experience in that particular field.

ichigo,

i am gonna tell you the real shit. gaming/animation have been outsourcing to korea and hk. it is easier to make a gaijin work visa for koreans or hongkongers. they are considered cheaper labor than that of westerners. if you don't got some special skills, can't speak jap, etc...i don't see why any animation or gaming company would hire you over another westerner who has better qualifications or a an asian outsource laborer. just think about shit logically.

the modelling thing is probably impossible. you just don't have a marketable look for the japanese industry. the closest you could probably get for this kind of thing is maybe an extra in cms, marketing campaigns, or maybe some event. you should learn how to dance...you could maybe be a back dancer for videos.
