i've had various experiences with using my us card.. some stores won't take it unless they know you, some ask to see your passport and shit.. and sometimes it works immediately and other times it takes some stupid amount of time because they don't know what to do with it

I always got charged like $25 transaction fee or they’d give me a horrible exchange rate plus $10 fee.

If you got a check card/debit card with a Visa, etc logo on it just go over to a post office ATM and withdraw money theres no charge. You might have to call your bank first though and make sure they know your traveling, I got mine blocked one time.

Depending on your CC company, it can be anywhere from 0 to 5% (Visa/MasterCard charges 1%, your bank might have a fee as well)

Capital One is the only card that does not charge exchange fee, (they absorb the visa/mc charges as well)

so instead of 107 to the dollar it'll range from 105.93 to 101.65
