SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)

^^Agree with rome1. I'd chuck them in the dryer if I had one. I put my jeans through the spin cycle in my washing machine to get most of the water out. To speed up drying, I put them on top of the radiator to cook the water out (esp. in winter). Always hang dry, placing on a towel on the ground, all you're going to end up with is a soggy mess, and a nice place for mould to grow.

Oh, and soaking in a laundry sink is fine. It's what I use. You use less water and don't end up with indigo stains in the bathtub.

Hrrm, does Levi's make an equivalent to their Skinny jeans in dry denim?

I can't tell if the "Soft Rigid" fit here is actually dry denim, but judging by the cost, I'm going to go with no.

If Levi's doesn't make an equivalent, what would be the next best option to buy that fits similiarly to a Levi's Skinny 511? If this was asked somewhere before, my apologies :)

Hey guys, my sister just bought me a pair of slim jims. The thing is theres no way to return them and they are big around the waist for me. Everything else is fine. I was wondering how should i shrink them without fading of color. So pretty much can someone explain to me how to shrink me jeans without fading and how?

get the waist tailored if its not *too* big?

soak them and put them in the dryer on HOT? (repeat if needed. will shrink the entire jean obviously, and not just the waist. i've had some success with this method)

put them out on supermarket for a trade or sell them there and buy better fitting ones?

i dunno

- If Dior MIJ 21cm sz 29 fits me well, what size Skull S5010XX 6X6 One-Wash should I get? Anyone here have both?

- Are nowadays all new Skull S5010XX 6X6's the "long inseam" version?

Hmm been searching for a while now, but couldn't find a definitive answer. Thanks in advance guys.

skulls size 30

Can anyone please reccomend a pair of jeans with the closest cut to Ewdin Nashville or Greensville?

or even a place still selling greenville

I have both of these and love the fit, but after 6 months of each (i.e. a year in total) there is only minimal honeycombs and they look pretty much brand new apart from the turnup being more defined.

Thanks in advance

You're gonna need to be more specific that just a name (some of us aren't familiar ;) ). Pictures, cut, etc.???

sorry mate, nashville are about 8" leg opening, 11 thigh, 16 back rise (?) i think.

Looking for maybe an inch on the leg and thigh more though, i cant measrure my greenville right now but they have a nicer leg.

Kinda looking for a mix of each, but ill have to assume you know what cuts each have because i dont know exact measurements right now.

anyone know any good tailors around in the Los Angeles area? (Hollywood)

Not Hollywood, but Hollywood Trading Company / Denim Doctors on Beverly should be able to handle any denim related requests. I don't know if they do non-denim stuff or not.

and eBay, obviously.

They look kinda frumpy in the caliroots link...but it says they're 47 repros. So you could try Sugarcane's 47, LVC 47, for a more modern fit and if you want lots of fading, Flathead 380.

So being a 47 repro, it basically means they are modeled on levis 1947 or somthing?

I will check them you list out, thanks.

Yes....501's from 1947. Almost every japanese repro company makes a cut "inspired" by this, so you shouldn't have much trouble. Take a look through the "How Jeans Fit" thread and you'll get lots of ideas.

2 questions.

What is the difference between a warm and cold soak.

Which soak should i use if i want my jeans to shrink back to original size and have no indigo color loss?

Warm will get more shrinking, cold will get less. Neither of them will results in significant indigo loss...warm is my preferred method.

A couple of my jeans have a loose thread sticking out from the inseam of one of the legs. What do I do with it? Can I snip it off? Also, one pair has a loose thread sticking out of the outseam (or whatever you call the thing that's on the opposite side of the inseam); would it also be safe to cut it?

How much does a new raw LVC Type III Jacket sell for at stores?? Thanks

Here's a link to Aero in the UK:

http://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/webapp/aeroleather/servlet/AeroViewPage?page=displayproduct&subcatid=172&prodid=2527

I got mine on ebay for cheapie cheapie...I think $30. They often have them at outlets in the US or on clearance at the Levi's store for dirt cheap too. Check out the Jean Jacket thread for more info.

oh shi!t did i size down too much? i bought a pair of slim jims aged organic dry sz28. i tried on a pair of sz28 apcNS and they fit perfect, even a bit loose. i was planning to buy sz27 for them to stretch out to how the sz28s felt like instore.

trying these slim jims, they are like denim LEGGINGs. wow. i'm afraid of busting a crotch in the first hour of use. took me mad effort to put them on. but now they're on, and i'm just sitting them them.... mm. i hope they'll stretch out. nudies stretch just like APCs right?

True raw jeans shrink appx. 10% when they come into contact with water (especially hot water). Soaking them before wearing means they stabilize size-wise. Sanforized, or preshrunk raw jeans do not need to be soaked before wearing. They shrink very little when washed (although there is occasional inseam shrinkage of approx. 1"). Some people soak sanforized jeans anyway.

What does sanforised mean and how can you tell the difference?

Also isn't it better to soak the jeans whilst wearing them as supposed to just on their own?

I hate to quote my own blog because its new and doesn't say much, but take a look at what I wrote about soaking...should answer all your questions.

Sanforising is the process that shrinks denim so that it won't shrink any fruther due to washing them..

Denim is pressed through rubber bands whilst being heated up..

http://www.hocks.de/decatising_wrappers/applications/sanforizing/sanforizing.html

You would soak a pair of Jeans that are somewhat tight to begin with whilst wearing them , yes , you could do that...

That is a really weired question....every raw and unsanforized denim will shrink when it hits the water..

It does'nt mess up the Jeans , it's part of the process...

So no washing without shrinking or fading (some indigo loss)

All you can do - never wash, if you're afraid...IHHHHH

for those of you who have ordered from BiG and needed chainstitching done, did you call them or leave a note in your order?

Send Gordon an email...you would normally send this along with ur order, though, to make it easier for them
