So yea, it's made of natural indigo, but not exclusively so.

So it's not that some of the threads are dyed with natural and then woven with synthetic ones also? Because the official description really makes it sound like that. But I wouldn't be surprised if things got lost in translation. The official description even calls it the "Awa mixed" denim. 

Edit - Digging in a little more - it specifies about the blend "which is a blend of Awa Ai and indigo". 

I am taking "indigo" to mean synthetic, and Awa ai to mean natural indigo as per the previous desciption on the site here https://www.sugarcane.jp/news/709/. 

Help me see what I'm missing - I'm sure it's obvious, apologies.

The jacket and jeans from this capsule we're carrying have a warp yarn which is made of 80% natural indigo (AWA-AI) and 20% synthetic.  There is a second part to this capsule (which we're not carrying) which is 100% natural indigo but it's not yarn dyed, both the jeans and jacket are garment dyed in natural indigo and they're priced accordingly (about $800 USD each).

It makes more sense that's a mix of natural and synthetic indigo. Same as the Edo Ai. I think the description of the Edo Ai was more clear on SC's homepage in that regard.

Construction is similar but the new t-shirts are made of a long staple cotton and feel much softer and more "refined".

it's got more give too without feeling thin. The old fabric was great but def was unforgiving in terms of stretch. To me the new shirts are a good blend of the softness of a warehouse tshirt (but with a more even hand) with the classic flat head tshirt construction.

New Seuvas Flannels & Moleskin Shirts

We've got two new Seuvas shirts and a restock of both of their chambray shirts this week.

One of our favorite shirt brands has ventured into the world of flannels and they’ve just dropped their second release.  Seuvas come through with a shirt made of an original selvedge flannel complete with double-needle construction, gusseted side seams, and their signature single Amakusa pottery stone button as the only external branding.  It’s no surprise that Seuvas is capable of producing such nice flannels considering all textiles and even the sewing is done in-house in their own factory in Okayama, Japan. 

As part of Suevas’ new summer line they’ve also produced a shirt made of a beautiful 100% cotton moleskin fabric.  This shirt also comes with their signature construction and ceramic button branding.

These are made of Sugar Cane’s 14oz “Hawaii” denim and finished with all the classic Mister Freedom Lot 64 details, which are far too many to list here. Pure Blue Japan Extra Slub Denim Jeans

New Pure Blue Japan! The EX-019 Extra Slub denim jeans are here. This is the straight tapered version of the EX-013 jeans we received last month. This 17.5 denim is woven at a very low tension with a super short staple cotton, giving the fabric extreme character. These have a slightly higher slub level than their previous “Super Rough” series and with bit more waviness to the denim.

Iron Heart Thermals, Shirts, Jeans & Everything Else

We've got a large shipment this week from Iron Heart containing jeans, sneakers, jackets, belts, and new thermals and shirts. 

For Iron Heart's new denim shirt they've taken a pure indigo dyed warp and a black sulfur dyed weft and woven them together to create a beautiful 14oz denim. The shade on this denim is unique and will look wild once it’s lightened up with some wear.

The new thermals from Iron Heart are great for layering or just to wear alone. They’ve got some very cool 4-needle flat seam construction and chainstitch run-off from the sleeves and hem; get em now in black or gray.

No sorry, I can't find any photos on file of that denim worn in.  As with most black overdyed jeans over indigo denim, these will fade slowly from black to dark gray to a dark indigo over time.

We’re happy to announce that we’ve added Samurai, one of the most legendary Japanese denim brands, to our roster of labels. Samurai was started in 1997 by Toru Nogami in Osaka, Japan. With a strong love of Japanese race cars and vintage Levi’s he set out to create a denim brand for the outsiders. Coming in well after the original “Osaka Five” Nomagi-San had to set his brand apart from the other Osaka based denim lines. He was quite enamored with the Levi’s 501 and he used that silhouette as his template while pushing the boundaries of denim weights and weave styles. The Strike Gold "Keep Earth" jeans are here. These limited edition models are made of a special 17oz natural indigo dyed denim made of a 100% organic short and medium staple cotton. Strike Gold set out to produce a limited run of jeans with the intention of making them in the most natural way possible. The cotton is 100% organic for both the denim and pocket bags, only natural indigo dye was used to rope-dye the warp yarns, and the patch was printed with vegetable based coloring agents. Rick Owens 13oz Foil Denim Ramones Sneakers

The Rick Owens 13oz Foil Denim Ramones are here.  These models come from the new Fall/Winter GETHSEMANE season and are made of a newly developed 13oz Black Foil and White Foil denim. This fabric starts out as an 13oz denim which has a black or white “foil” heat pressed into it, you can still see a bit of the denim weave pattern through the foil and over time the foil will come off to reveal the denim base.
