They really are fading very fast.
I haven't worn them much. But they're probably my most faded pair of the <than two years' ones.

Of course you can ask mate. I am traveling to Indonesia to region of Banda Sea. There we will cruise on the boat the sea in zone between Indonesia, Papua and East Timur and dive around the islands. In the zone without digital pollution - no phone, no internet ...

Hello! I'm looking at the Denime products on Bears website. I've not had any Denime before.

I see that it seems to go up to 15.9oz after washing. That's quite heavy for me as usual don't go beyond 14. Do they feel heavy? Are they still comfortable? Is this across all fabrics?

I'm also unsure between the 220A fabric, 220xx, 224 Ishikawadai Denim. It seems that the 220A is a favourite on here? Any particular reason?

Also the 6 cm waist and lenght shrinkage on Bears. Is that accurate? Does it continue to shrink more than that after more washes or is 6cm the max?

Thanks for the help

@PrettyBoyTony The 220A denim does not feel particularly heavy - a happy medium I'd say. Does not feel close to my 17 oz. Samurai's. The 220A denim seems to fade pretty quickly too. My pair has less than 3 months of wear and they've faded a surprising amount. Take the 6 cm shrinkage with a grain of salt depending on your size, but I'd say the normal 10% is a fair assumption. As for ongoing shrinkage, I haven't noticed any beyond the waist returning to the shrunk measurement.

Haha! Yes, the lightning fade was there from day 1 pretty much, being one washed from Warehouse, they arrived to me with the coin pocket crease already going on.

Dad life and a fair few diy jobs have worn the thighs, plus the additional fade on the right knee haha!

@PrettyBoyTony - Good question, it's probably:

1. I have fallen on Warehouse as my brand of choice for jeans (keeps things simpler, and I can obsess deeply about one brand rather than many, for now at least!)

2. I like jeans to look worn/lived in quickly - this fabric fades fast (and is lighter than the 220A denim - ideal for me, I found the 220A to be a touch too thick)

3. You can see the brown cotton coming through, giving the faded areas a richer tone than what I have seen in previous pairs with white cotton

4. Beyond that, I don't know honestly, I just like it - I also jumped on the chance to have "collected" the 220XX series I suppose, depending on how the WW2 edition looks when it comes out (could be any time soon) I may grab that too

Did you also have a pair of the WH DD 47s? And if so, how would you compare them denim and fit wise?

Also interested to hear about the difference in fit between the Denime 47s and 54s.

@indigoeagle I did yes!

Fit wise, they’re very similar, comfy high rise and top block, then quite a pronounced taper (in Sufu terms anyway). Lovely fit, and road-proven through the DD-1947! I hoped and kind of expected them to be similar, and was right on that one.

The DD banner denim I would say is marginally softer, and a bit more characterful, grainy etc. The Denime banner denim is smoother, and like I said has that brown cotton coming through, giving the faded areas a warmer hue.

I too am looking forward to seeing how they compare, I went for the same size (34) in the 54’s…which could have been an error given how different the waist measurement is! We shall see. Gone the same route getting a one wash pair from warehouse direct, with their own hem too of course!

I will of course share details when they arrive (probably mid-late next week given past experience)

I think I'm going to go with the DENIME Lot.220A OFFSET XX model but now I'm not too sure about sizing. Bears says it shrinks 6cm in waist and lenght but can see other sites are saying less.

My perfect waist is 41 to 42 cm measured flat.

Should I go for the 32 inch which is 85cm or 33inch which is 88cm?

Also inseam wise i like a 30 inch so assume i should go for that as looks like full shrinkage in lenght is just under 31 inches?

My size 31 220A measures exactly 79" in the waist after several washes/dries, if that helps.

I typically wear a 31 in warehouse.  The 220A that I got in a 31 were a little too tight after hitting the washing machine/dryer - so I sold them.  I didn't measure mine so I'm not sure how much they shrank.

They are taking on a lovely state of wear I must say, I guess that's why I'm picking up the 54's too!

I received these first week of August, worn pretty regularly since (no other jeans, wore chinos on wash days, recently started wearing another WH pair last couple of weeks or so)

Wow that almost looks identical to the WH DD-47 in photos

I know right! The denim is different though for sure, but cut and construction-wise very similar; Warehouse have their formula for a 1947 cut and it's good, I guess they don't need to deviate!
