Repair time:

This is the worn area before repair, the surrounding material has gotten quite thin.

The material is from the Iron Heart IHSH-35. I've cut it on the bias so it stretches with the denim and doesn't put too much load on the weak area, only time will tell if that works?

Finished off with cross stitching .

looking good Flash

I'm about to throw mine the machine again; I was wearing them while doing some minor construction works in the house. I will most likely start wearing them less frequently because my Devis jeans have arrived and are screaming for some attention

SLAB, you and me both...feeling a bit conflicted...Regardless, I'm starting to wash my Ooe's on a weekly basis so we'll see how they turn out.

Still wet, they aren't this dark in proper lighting (damage from cuffing):

Realized I've had ten+ washes so just in case anyone was wondering about shrinkage:

RAW>first wash>after ten+ washes (all in inches)

waist: 34 > 31 > 32 (stretched by hand)
front: 13.25 > 11.5 > 11
back: 15 > 14 > 13.5
thigh: 12.5 > 12 > 12
knee: 9.25 > 8.75 > 8.5
inseam: 31.5 > 29 > 28
LO: 8.4 > 7.8 > 7.5

And now another picture update:

and most telling as far as how they've come along...

more random updates...

I noticed my phone is starting to take shape on the back left pocket

i'm really liking the texture of the less worn areas that are starting to come out with frequent washing...there's a graininess that I can't pick up in the photos

slight combs

I'm entering into a phase of around 1-2 washes every week. Looking forward to the light blue hues

I think we were all too excited to obsess about the specifics of a prize.  That's fine.  It's a good trait of the general outlook here in the contest.

Simon, the chevron shape gives a lot of bonus coverage that stays hidden.  I did that repair when you were seeking advice on the last page.  Sorry I didn't chime in.  We were upgrading our computer and the only pics I could take the day I did it were with my phone.    I can get them posted if you like.  It's just the steps:  Cutting the fabric, laying out the patch for hemming the edges, etc.

Cheers to CrashTestBrummie for his fine work on external patches btw.  He got me liking the idea.

Thanks, I've done mine now (see top of page) I tried to make my repair as invisible as possible, but seeing yours i think the chevron patch is a pretty cool way to fix them.

I can't remember; is it a one or two year competition?

I gave my pair another machine wash; they seem to have lost a lot of blue! I wish I could snap a picture but my wife took the camera with her to Japan
