I have always thought, I might have an example of Levi dead grass. On the left, is a pocket bag from a 1873-74 piece of Levi duck pant, on the right is the fly, to another Levi duck pant, from the same time period. Rnr, where I come from, we call what you have in your yard... weeds? A little less time travel and a lot more watering might be something you want to think about? R6 brilliant photos, out of rep must spread.

Actual waist size 35, no kidding...Actually, Lee Cooper has 35's and they fit pur-fect, but who buys LC's really...

Also, Wrangler 4RRB raw W36 shrunk to exactly 35 in a 60° wash, never had a better fitting pair.

I don't have a '55 501 - yet - so it's hard to say; I wear a 34 in '66's and DEFINITELY need 36 in '47's...

Edit: I actually do have a '55, but that was a finished one ("Scratch"). That's a 34 but no clue how they hold up against the stf's...

Check the post. My waist size is 32 - the jeans shown are 32 tag size, measured 32. With today's production, i'd probably need a 30, which is likely to measure 32, as current 55 models are mostly made oversized.

You need 55 which measure 36, no larger - because current 55 are mostly made oversize you need to investigate the 34 waist. Calll/email Cultizm, they'll measure the actual size for you.

That's a damn good deal. Luckily I'm not in the market or I'd pull the trigger.

Saw the sale right before I had to leave to go get the oil changed and a new battery installed in my car. Stranded in the snow, or new jeans.... stranded in the snow, or new jeans.... the car wins out.

Hell, I'll never see '55s for less than $180 ever again!

Quick question; Is the 1954 501Z a zipper version of the 1947 silhouette? Or is it an early version of the 1955 silhouette?

I have one, it's somewhere in between I guess, not as unforgiving a fit as the '47, but definitely not 'relaxed'. I'd say it's a 'modern' fit, rather carrot shaped and slim. People won't be able to tell you're wearing a really old jeans

I think context does, or did, have measurements for the '54 on their website. IIRC, the '54s were at least an inch narrower at the leg opening compared to the '55 (when historically the '54 and '55 should be identical cuts).

I have a pair of '54's, size 36. I can measure them if you'd like? they really aren't anything like the '47's or the '55's -- especially the '55's. They've a lower rise than these other models, with -- as setterman has pointed out -- a much narrower leg opening. The back pockets are nice though, as is the patch.

Thanks guys, that is very helpful. A lower rise '47 with a narrower leg opening sounds like a must buy to me! Any information on the sizing of the model would be much appreciated. I don't see any on Cultizm.

You'll find a size chart on this page: http://caliroots.com/c-store/product.asp?id=17086

As you can see, they are almost true to tagged size, and they do shrink considerably, so measure up at least one W size from your measured size and 2 or 3 L size.

Hey, don't mind ;-) although your measurements seem to contradict the link I posted and my own experience...perhaps a different production batch?

EDIT: Just to specify: I break my jeans in by taking a warm bath in them and letting them dry on me. After that I wash every now and then, rather hot sometimes (at 60°C). In my experience, the initial bath takes out the shrinking in L, but not in W, W keeps shrinking and stretching quite a while. If your 54's after a soak measure W36.5, I guess they'll shrink further when you wash 'm a few times.

i'm pretty sure they were 38" raw, and shrunk to 35.5" or so after two hot soaks/hang dries. i wore they a few times, hence the stretching. they are okay, but my least favorite LVC jean. it depends on what you're looking for. i can definitely see how some people would love the cut though.

still looking for suspender buttons for my 37's...not the carhartt ones, they're dope but I want something more authentic...anyone know where to cop?

...help?

was again directed to the carhartt ones, might have to bit the bullet, get em and distress them somehow, unless someone else can point me in the right direction

Funny, mine are tagged size 36 as well and they measured just about exactly that raw...

It's the whole look and feel about these jeans, the cut in a way looks very 'balanced', the details are nice and the patch is certainly one of the nicest on any LVC.

to LFC's point, just check the chart on page one of this thread. the '54s being produced now for the LVC line are a strange cut, definitely bearing very little resemblance to vintage 1950's levis. i know the powers-that-be have taken liberties with MANY details, but the '54's seem an extreme case.
