  1. @Alec Leamas here are my DSB 1000XX, after 3 years... I haven't worn them that much latley as I have other pairs in my rotation now. The front pockets are falling apart inside, but otherwise they are holding up pretty good, they been repaired a couple of times. The most irritating repair was that the seam in the crutch broke after 1 month of wear...

  2. Sorry for the double post but eclipse yesterday. We didn’t get totality here but at 98.5% coverage it was still pretty wonderful. FW/FC/Tender

  3. With the recent chat about ONI in the Unknown Japanese Brands thread, I thought I’d post these deadstock Oni Reds for sale on Yahoo auctions. I think they’re the ones that BiG used to sell about 15 years ago, alongside the Blues (both now discontinued) and are a wider, vintage cut, unlike most of their modern offerings. They may interest someone on here.

  4. I support this decision. You’ll never again be this young with this much time off from work. Take the opportunity and go! It might cost a bit to get there, but the weak Yen will make things affordable once you arrive. I’ll bet Hoosiers would welcome a visit if you made it to Kyoto. It would definitely be the trip of a lifetime.

  5. I've been tossing around the idea of a last minute solo trip to Japan, not sure if it's the best financial decision ever but would be the trip of a lifetime...

  6. Y'all aren't wrong, let's see what I can whip up in the next couple of days. Found some cheap flights April 15th - 25th. More to come.

  8. Be aware that Golden week is 29th April - 5th of May this year, just in case you thought of going later. All of Japan will be on holiday and on the move, making accommodation much scarcer/ costly.

  9. It's the way to go @Broark We then all get to live vicariously on 'What my jeans did today' which can be your daily Japan trip blog!

  10. Honestly, you could hit up all the stores and buy a few jeans and bring them back and sell on eBay to pay for the trip.

  11. I got made redundant about 6 months ago after 20+ years at the same company (I've got a new job, start next week) and the downtime between roles has been great! I had to make a rule of no PlayStation till after 2pm though or I'd still be in my dressing gown playing games on the sofa when the wife got in from work!

  12. Hope y'all have been doing well, been a bit busy lately as I was interviewing and landed a new job! I turned in my notice last week and my boss (of almost 6 years) told me to hit the road so now I've got a bunch of time on my hands until my start date. Any hobbies I should pick up in the next month?

  13. @Broark you could always spend some reflective time alone in the wilderness, like John the Baptist, or Aaron Rodgers.

  14. @Broark chill, read some books, do some travelling... and enjoy a time of reduced pressure mate... such times can be fleeting!

  15. Fwiw, FullCount 0105 in a lot of varieties are quite reasonable (by Japanese denim standards) when paying Japanese retail which isn’t too tough to find. About 180-190 USD.

  16. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts! I actually I didn't know the brand until DC4 in Berlin had these in store, and as a lover of high waisted, wide straight legs jeans, which are still hard to find and often at a prices I wouldn't pay, thinking of Fullcount, Dawson or At Last & Co, I was happy to find Oni. Their other cuts are not my thing either.

  17. Not a bad idea, we actually recently cleaned out some beds in our backyard for this exact purpose. We’re renting our place so not entirely sure how much we can do, but might clear out some more. It’s very rewarding!

  18. Agreed with everything that’s already been said, but also (& maybe most importantly?) their patterning is absolutely terrible. I spent enough time on r/rawdenim to see more than my fair share of ONI fit pics, and they look bad on every body type, pretty much across the board—like in the same league as N&F. Almost no one manages to make them look like a good / natural fit.

  19. I've just started at a clothing company, and I'd like to share with you some of the things I've learned. In the case of my company, the merchandisers are very professional. They're not acronym's supplier, but they do make hardshell jackets. Secondly, in terms of the choice of fabrics, this company has many fabric suppliers, and will compare prices and then purchase. The prospect of the garment industry is still good, but some disadvantages are that the old production mode needs to be updated, and the industry is monopolized by some large companies, and there is a lack of fresh blood. Young people generally do not want to work in garment factories, and the turnover rate is high.

  20. WTS WTS J36-S Night M size 7/10 Sold out! Thank you! Feel free to negotiate! Since this is a post-dyed ventile, the feeling of use is easy to show and the sleeves are used. Functional aspects are not a problem. full pack Or if there is a negotiation with a size S jacket because I have lost weight, I would prefer that too lol. Of course the photos are unprocessed, and I will upload the photos with the frayed sleeves later.

  22. My ring coat is in ripstop cotton - one of the lightweight versions. I'm not sure what the production pattern is but the seasonal difference seems to be heavier and lighter fabrics, perhaps a few different bells and whistles per season but the general style is what you see. I took the largest size... and tbh even a larger size or a smaller would work I think. Though imo it's a go-large coat, not a fitted number. @chicote's intuition is spot on... they're amorphous... and the amorphousness needs to be embraced otherwise the romance will end in divorce . They can be set up in different ways as you'll have seen and that's where the fun is... those with OCD may become very consumed! The idea of throwing it on is a grand one and the right one... practically, imo you need to have the configuration you want to just throw on ready or have time to do that... and then you can. Where I run into head-scratching is it I want a different configuration and it's not set up and I'm going out right now. Just considerations, not insurmountable or reasons not to go with one btw. I'm a fan... a cool and unique coat A few pics that may shed a little light, though there are tonnes online that show it better...

  25. We've hemmed (literally) tens of thousands of jeans over the past 18 years.. the average inseam in North America is definitely shorter than 30".
    1 point
  26. They're def on the shorter side of what we are used to carrying but generally inseam length preferences have trended shorter and shorter the last few years especially as looser cuts became more popular so we've done quite well with the jeans. Many people have been able to just buy and walk out the store with them w/o needing a hem. We've actually sold through most of our initial delivery in a few months of carrying it so I think people have really embraced the shorter and looser style.

  27. Blocked? Hmmm... probably a certain supreme power sparing me from some awful danger I'm in for chasing another obviously unnecessary pair of jeans.... I already can't decide if I need the SC 1946 after I get rid of some SC pairs I bought earlier to some relief. I need to finally start learning to settle for what I need, while rejecting what I want 🙂
