There was a buzz in the air around our way yesterday I missed the main action but my wife was a honey and took some footage Bees had migrated from under the eaves of a local house to nest in a tree Nothing could be done to move them on while they were living in the eaves However, once in the tree, they could be moved safely... the local beekeeper was contacted The queen bee ended up safely in the bucket... and her loyal subjects soon followed The beekeeper left the bees to swarm into the bucket for a few hours Then came back, put them all in the blanket, into her car boot and took them to her hive to live happily ever after Win-win-win situation - happy bees, happy beekeeper, happy home-owner... Quite a sweet ending eh 😄14 points

I've never been to the gym (too much testosterone and HGH for my liking) or really done any exersize.. surely not 00, you're like prime beef? .. i know right, but it's true .. i've just tried to lead an active lifestyle.. anywho, i've never had the desire to be strong or muscular, i just don't want to put on any weight as i get older. I perish the thought of a beer belly although i do love a good beer, i don't really want to revert to 0% it just seems like all of the sugar but non of the fun.. i'd rather have a juice.. so in my quest to alter my drinking habits, i started to drink red wine.. i don't really like wine so i thought i would drink less of it I digress.. because i know fk'all about wine, i've enlisted my friend who lives in France (he basically moved there for the wine) in an advisory role.. i still know fk'all about it but he sent me this yeserday. https://www.messynessychic.com/2021/04/02/hidden-under-a-chicken-coop-the-louvre-of-wine/ The video starts at the 37min mark the rest is just bollocks.. this energetic 80yr old Frenchman has amased a collection of €50,000,000 of wine which is just burried in his back garden in rural France, the story is beyond charming7 points

Bumping this down to $200 shipped! Also letting go of a YM Factory Closed Front Jumper size 42, from 2020. Looking for $120 shipped Based on original Levi’s model, a 10oz denim with natural beige weft and produced entirely on vintage sewing equipment Cold washed once and worn a handful of times but been in storage last few years. Very soft denim, and no real fading to start other than as pictured on cuff and one random slub on the sleeve5 points

Here’s a short sleeve Wallaby shirt, number 423 maybe?, that my partner appropriated from my closet a couple of years ago. Tender items have always been so difficult for me to photograph because of the subtlety of so many of their fabrics, but this overcast day here gives a nice flat light that hopefully shows a little of the wonderful dialectical texture this shirt is developing, somehow smooth and rough, soft and robust all at once.4 points

Think it's a repro but I do like the fading. Vintage ones in minty/deadstock condition can be pretty spendy - like this one https://capri-kyoto.ocnk.net/product/5655 - although this one is cheaper by comparison https://vintage.matin.jp/?pid=178753129 : I actually just got a CSF repro M-35 off Mercari (they are made by Kaoru rather than Konaka). Will have to post some pics sometime. It has laurel leaf WWII style buttons which I don't think are correct vs the sewn zinc US army ones most vintage and repro have (I didn't notice in the photos tbh, only when it arrived) unless there are some supposed rare vintage examples I don't know about.4 points

Came across this 1930s US Army denim pullover for just $250... edit on second thought I don't know enough to know whether this is real vintage or a "vintage" repro... either way it's really nice... https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/japan/en/special/order/confirm/https%3A%2F%2Fitem.fril.jp%2F1f65e50a365a53759639c276acaa3425/N_14 points

Just saw this on Instagram, looks like Mike is having an estate sale. Might be an opportunity to get some old Rising Sun items. https://www.estatesales.net/CA/Pasadena/91107/45147573 points

@Broark those are really cool!! I am after something a little more conventional but i'd love to see pics of those if you end up getting them. @yung_flynn those Randy's trousers are great, i'll look for those in my size elsewhere online, that's about the closest i've seen so far to what i'm looking for... Honestly seeing the variety of results from you all here is kind of vindicating me, i was feeling really dumb for not being able to find what seems ( to me ) to be such a timeless-seeming, classic-fitting pair of pants anywhere, and as this page shows there are any number of options that are very close in some ways, a little off in others... just very strange that it's been so hard to track down. But I am considering a few options (Buzz x William Gibson, Nuu, Randy's are the closest -- thanks you guys) and will maybe end up ordering a couple of them to compare. I appreciate all the help! To be honest the entire reason I even want these is because i've been haunted by a man I saw walking on the side of the road while riding my motorcycle back through northern Sinaloa... he was dressed in some worn-out black work pants and boots, and a brownish-reddish work shirt; I just rode past him in an instant, we had no interaction, but for some reason his outfit was so memorable to me; I had spent seven months without buying, or even being tempted by, a single garment, but in that moment I had this mad desire for a pair of pants like that and have been slowly hunting for them ever since.3 points

I have saved the best for last. Probably my favorite t shirt of all time. I only visited the local Santa Fe Speedway in Willow Springs only once or twice to watch the demolition derby before it closed down but those memories live large in my mind. Perfect graphics, faded but legible, on a super thin single stich 50/50 Made in USA Screen Stars tee. Every new find is judged against this one. Earlier this year I found a local making reprints on plain white so I grabbed one.3 points

Interesting video. They explain how the WH Denime banner denim will first develop dots, that then connect to vertical fading. Also before WH apparently wasn't working with Kurabo. But through their restarting Denime they got into a relationship with them.2 points

After about 14 years with these Red Wings, I think they look worse with age! They’ve been resoled twice and were a half-size too small (as I bought them in a half-price sale and @almostnice kindly told me they’d stretch a bit) so I could only ever wear them with thin socks. They’ve been my dog walking boots for the last few years but now the sole has no grip so they’re of no use in muddy parks and I just wear wellies in the winter instead. In addition to the 2 resoles at the Vibram shop (neither as robust as the original sole), they’ve also had the mocc toe stitching repaired. Overall, I’ve really enjoyed wearing them and I’ve a pair of their Chelsea boots in ebony harness leather with a black crepe sole - I’m over the white. Anyway, today they go in the bin. Farewell old buddies, it’s been a pleasure!2 points

That happened about an hour north of where I live! I have a couple beekeeper friends who wanted to drive up to witness the bee's behavior -- as you can imagine this is a novel situation for everyone involved...1 point

Where I live, most people still wear trainers in the winter so these would be regarded as heavy duty winter wear. 14 years of pounding the pavement, beer spills in the pub, kicking a ball around with my kids and schlepping through muddy parks, chasing a lively whippet have taken their toll. I didn’t want to pay for a 3rd resole, which would have been necessary as a rainy day would have me skidding across the pavement in them but I appreciate your concern!1 point

^ With that story I really want you to find those pants. What are the chances that what he was actually wearing was just some Dickies or Dockers or something?1 point

welp, at 1050eur for j47a-e, i gotta admit this could be the first big step in the right direction for acrnm. not only did they manage to execute one of their most popular jackets in a desirable fabric, but they did it at a fair price. maybe this was a shot in the dark, or maybe….just maybe… we’re going to finally get what we’ve always hoped for. og acr at fair prices.1 point

@srudy Theoretically never... They are a good waist fit as is. I may be looking into dry cleaning, or some home remedy imitation of that. I'm also considering building some kind of wooden rack to preserve the length in the event that I need to turn the hose on them at some point of inevitability.1 point

Thank you for this @merzbot! I want to do a superfuture-level rundown on the Working SKEWed jeans in the next week or so, but actually I just came on to show some details of the 900 Bull Denim, so good timing. This fabric is woven with a 100% cotton warp and a 50/50 wool/hemp weft. Generally speaking, dyes react differently with cellulose fibres (eg cotton, linen) and protein fibres (eg wool, silk), and even more generally speaking dyes stick better to protein than to cellulose. This can be quite subtle, for example with woad, where the blue is relatively deep across all the fibres in the fabric (with the original undyed fabric below): the khaki, particularly, took to the wool much more readily than to the cotton or hemp, creating a sort of turquoise wool fuzz over the top of a paler green cotton/hemp ground: lastly, though, here's a version which is a little more subtle, but which I'm really excited by. This is dyed hadal blue with a formula that reacts only with wool, so that the cotton and hemp remain completely undyed. It gives the effect of a fabric woven with an undyed warp and a melange fibre dyed warp, where dyed wool is spun with undyed hemp, but all with a single garment dye. The jacket reads as denim, but with the softness and lightness of the bull denim cloth.1 point

In other news… Picked up my absolute dream pair around a month ago, the M41059. I actually already had a pair, which I’d found years ago in the same size (33) as my first M41058, but it turned out that these run around a size smaller, and there was no chance they were going to be comfortable after shrinking. These new ones are tagged 35, and in great condition. Ignoring older MP-series wares like the above, this model has always been right at the top of the list of Cane’s I’d like to find.1 point
