Ooe makes beautiful jeans -- my favorite overall. For some (e.g., Shredwin), the top block isn't ideal, but it's always had the magic for me. I have a hard time distinguishing the various finishes and denims, but the top blocks are similar across models. If you want a trim leg, go 02, medium 01, and wide 03.7 points

During lockdown 2020.. i was still popping into work during the day while my wife and kid were doing homeschool.. he would have been 11yrs old at the time, one cold January evening, i took him on a night hike in the Peaks.. it was Friday night so no school the next day.. he'd done the Joe Wicks workout but still had lots of energy to burn off.. We left the car in the carpark at the end of the Burbage valley and took a route i've done 100s of times in the past.. it was around 7pm but pitch black and icy.. on the home stretch we were climbing up some rocks (a section he loves) he was up front carrying our massive search and rescue light .. i was behind him just in case he slipped with a poxy little torch.. when we got to the top, he shouted "Wooo! Parkour" and started jumping from rock to rock while i climbed up the last section.. when i got to the top, i could see his torchlight was way off in the distance so i shouted "stay where you are" and i made my way to him cutting through the heather loosing the path in the darkness and completely lost our bearings.. i could see a road in the distance so i thought.. it'd be safer / easier to figure out where we were from the road than waist deep in heather .. this was a period when i didn't have a phone and he'd left his phone in the car.. Whoops! .. familiarity breeds contempt thought i It was so dark that even from the road i had no clue whether we should turn left or right.. one way is the road to Sheffield.. the other is the road to Manchester, i was 80% sure we should turn right but i spotted a light from a remote farmhouse in the distance and said (mainly to try and teach him a lesson) if you ever find yourself in this situation never wander off into the Peak District.. especially when it's -10°.. anywho.. we got to this farmhouse.. this was the era of peak covid paranoia.. and knocked on the door, the farmer was quite surprised to see a 40 something year old man and an 11yr old boy at 10.30pm.. he drew us a map to get back to the Burbage carpark.. (and gave me a bit of a lecture about being more responsible in future ) .. surprisingly it was the complete opposite way to where i thought we should be going (lesson learned or so i thought) .. and off we went .. any other time, i'm sure he would have just given us a lift.. we were following his map but nothing seemed familiar.. i saw no other cars on the road.. then all of a sudden the carpark came into view and it was the carpark at the opposite end of the Burbage Valley.. Oh Fuck!!! ..but all was not lost there was a car in the carpark and it was all lit up with what looked like studio lighting rigs? when we got there, it was a freelance photographer with a drone and a sexy model.. they had the car on loan from Audi and they were filming a promo... she was stepping out of the car as the drone flew through the Peak District.. i asked him the time.. it was 12.30am, we explained the situation and they agreed to drive us around the Burbage Valley and back to our car.. We got home muddied and exhausted to a greeting of "where the fucking hell have you two been?"6 points

I saw these and couldn't help but chuckle. Weird Guy - Super Heavyweight 40oz Selvedge | Naked & Famous Denim – Tate + Yoko Take a look at the patch (30 oz of cowhide): The owner gave them a ringing endorsement: "Naked & Famous Denim Owner, Brandon Svarc, likes to joke 'Guaranteed uncomfortable or your money back.'" They are also perversely shrink-to-fit with only the loosest of shrinkage estimates and in a slim tapered cut which feels like a recipe for fit disaster, especially at $2000.5 points

Not much more praise I can offer Ooe than I've done throughout this thread but they're my favorite as well, easy. The top block is somehow the most comfortable of all brands for me, which somehow sits near my fluctuating gut in the perfect position whereas most others cause gastro-discomfort 😂 Will also second that their non-standard Levi's cuts with higher rises are also great for me; I rotate the Mechanic Overalls often. Hopefully some who were aiming for the WWII's were able to get them!5 points

Hey all. Here are my Warehouse 1101, worn regularly for about 18 months I think. Gotta love how the Banner denim evolves. I began wearing them a little before my eldest son was born in 2017 and discovered a whole new world of knee fades upon his arrival 😌… Jumping forward a few years, I’ve started wearing them again recently so will aim to get better shots of them on here later down the line.4 points

Right, Neal. It was the three pound notes you had to be careful of... And those one arm bandits that took our parents' sixpences.3 points

Size 35 of the 02 with hidden rivets - this is still in stock. Only catch is the 31 raw inseam, which for me is great. I got a pair here a long time ago that is waiting for some day. https://keylimetokyo.com/en/products/holk-ooe-yofukuten-denim-pants-indigo-blue?variant=47359804113176 I’m blowing up this spot because they’ve had stock here for a long time.3 points

That’s the main reason I never wear any natural indigo jeans anymore—half of my job these days is using Artificial Intelligence to build Atomic Interferometers, and I just don’t think I could stand another layer of disambiguation3 points

Far too big a chunk of the internet already comprises pages primarily populated by and (increasingly) consumed by AI. This adds nothing in the way of original content, and makes it significantly more difficult to filter out trustworthy info when searching. The last thing we need is for real human contributors to begin actively helping add to the noise. I’m certainly not fundamentally against this style of AI assistant tool. If someone wanted a quick summary of the first 130 pages of this thread without all the banter, the prompts you entered would be a great way to achieve it. The (rather big) problem arises when the output of the AI models gets posted straight back to the same pages that the models are using for training in the first place. Now, in five years, when someone wants to ask their AI assistant to summarize the first 230 pages of this thread, the model isn’t likely to appropriately distinguish between original human-generated content and amalgamated machine-generated content when building its impression. The feedback loop that this generates doesn’t have any happy endings. Use AI all you want to help with your personal or professional life, but keep whatever it outputs away from any information aggregates like forums or social media. (I know it’s all in good humor and no real harm’s being done, and I hope the neg rep isn’t taken personally—that’s what the rep buttons are for, right?)3 points

Edit: 1947 601xx, 100 wears Edit: 1951 601xx, ~150 wears I didn't wear them for all of 2024, so they look pretty much the same; I was wearing the Dior Homme's. Now I'm wearing my Samurai Russia Edition until September 1. I've got a pair of Oni Ishikawadai's squirreled away for the Indigo Invitational. I should've joined the Word of Mouth contest. @shredwin_2063 points

We took our daughter out to the local wildflower center near our house yesterday, hard to believe she's already 3 months old. I've had a hard time documenting much lately, but I'm working on it! Before and after one of our pups got a (long overdue) haircut. Keeping watching during playtime. I've got a bunch of fancy sneakers but somehow I always end up back in these ones from Catchball. Seen a guy at one of our local coffee shops wearing some wide FH's and Paraboots.3 points

Dude, you have a 3 month old. That is doing absolutely more than enough in itself!! Beautiful set of photos by the way - those early days are so so precious. My youngest isn't even 2 yet and I miss the early early times - insanity maybe? I'm okay with insanity if so.2 points

Hej mate, I also just found this entry from their blog about the 60 years finish: https://ooeyofukuten.blogspot.com/2015/10/oa01xx-105560-years-nos-finish.html But in my head i still remember some 02 cut with a shorter age (because jeans from the 60s would have aged sorter than the 01 from the 50s...). Will dig deeper2 points

Yea idk. I am so used to Freewheelers maybe I’m hiking the OOE up too high, but I feel like I’m bottoming out in the crotch and also the rear rise is a bit low. All of that combined with that I tuck all my shirts. The denim and details are great but the fits they offer just isn’t for me.2 points

I was telling the boy about pre decimalised currency yesterday “before 1971 and long before I was born there was 240 pence to the pound.. but even when I was a kid we still had 1/2 pence so half of 1p” “I’ve got some old money in my toolbox at work, I’ll bring you a 1/2p coin home” When I gave it to him, he said “oh I thought it would look like a 1p cut in half.. sort of half moon shaped? “2 points
