Here's another blast from the past @tg76 2015 Denim Bruin Even i got a mention The bandana was a gift from Mr R .. same design as the blanket Masterson's Circle A. & Roy's 14/25 ..and a random postcard which Mr R sent me from his holiday in Honolulu 😍 I think Standard & Strange have the rights to hold future Denim Bruin events..8 points

here's some fades printed in a more Margiela way (a random uni students work) Way back when The DD+1 Evisu touring jeans thing happened, Evisu took the pair the 13 of us had worn and reproduced our fades for a limited release. Funnily enough we all opted for a raw pair. Woke up this morning trying to remember who the 13 were, got stuck after 9 people. Going to search it now. Gotta love a procrastinating trip down memory lane Also on the crowd funding thing.. I put money into a Chuck Palahniuk - Choke, movie crowd funding, got a t shirt hat, signed book, and some other stuff, but looks like the movie is never going to happen. Sad as I had put my late cats name to go in the credits and that would have been great to see. Her name was Sausage. edit: popped up on my bookface memories this morning, Sausage in the top right with my Choke pledge merchandise in amongst the other pledgers7 points

Yeah their prices are out of my range as well. But their pieces do look nice (as a fashion company). I really dig the half arc:7 points

I think it was only for the contest. 20 pairs. The hand written note had an apology for them taking so long, think he was a busy guy. I loved my pair, look forward to fitting them again soon. First bike ride of 'I will fit my old clothes again' done today. Other Denimbro thing I found is a LVC bandana I won for writing something to go with a photo or something. 1 year off work, being creative and riding my bike. I might be more active round here too.5 points

Thing is, if I succeed in going the duration of this contest and save what I might spend on jeans in a normal year, I could do it. My collection at this point says that over time it’s not so much a matter of funding (although to a pair, it certainly feels like it) but actually curation and restraint. I’ve been curious about putting in a long go of some naturally dyed jeans and while SDA seem the obvious option, who knows. I’ve been able to resist anything since the contest was agreed upon, so there’s that!4 points

Different category of clothing, but I like my Deluxeware thermal tees. Very solid and well made, for a good price. The garment quality and vibe reminds me of Flat Head, which is always a good thing.4 points

I received a 45r coat as a(n amazing) gift recently, and while their prices have never been in my realm it does make me want some jeans too. I like a lot of the other designs as well.2 points

I do this quite a lot.. not usually with acetate but with most other resins.. polyurethane, polycarb, acrylic ..ect Forget the Dremel, one false move and it's fked. If i was you i'd unscrew the arms and mask off the lenses front and back, then use 100grit sandpaper to create the desired shape, if you want it to be more of a chamfer than a rad, wrap the piece of sandpaper around a small block of wood.. bit of 1/4 ply or summat (1.5" long) .. get the shape right, then move to 320g sandpaper to remove the sanding marks, then 1000g wet n'dry, use it dry.. then 3000g wet n'dry keep dipping them in a bowl of warm soapy water the soap acts like a lubricant.. finally 6000g grit.. you can polish them back up with Brasso or T-Cut and for a super-polish, i use whitening toothpaste, keep them wet while doing so.. if you want a finished shine some resin car wax/polish works a treat. I wouldn't recommend any polishing machinery. If you find the acetate quite soft, use 240g instead of 100 and 600g instead of 320, you'll only know this by trying it.2 points

Very nice! What all did you use for the bowl? Looks like some oak, maple and cherry, but I could be way off. The green is nice too.1 point

Recently, at least for Arc'teryx, from the 1st of 2025 they've pulled all goretex, including windstopper, that contained PFAS1 point

I do dig the yellow "button" on back pocket of Pherrows1 point

He ran a kickstarter that was successful, however he didn’t allow for the tax due on the revenue generated. As a result many peoples orders went unfulfilled, including mine. He then had some health issues and shut the brand down.1 point

I visited their shop in Paris last January, it was beautifully merchandised and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. But as y'all mentioned just a bit too rich for my blood.1 point

Both brands are nearly non-existant here so it would be nice to see more. I have a hrd time liking the "eagle arch" back pockets of the Deluxeware but since they do all in-house, my vote would be Deluxeware.1 point

Haha! Nah. I get it. I grew up poor so unbranded clothing reminds me of the generic clothing of my youth. So I do prefer some branding. I do own some pherrows items and I like them a lot but I do want to check out something out of the usual. Maybe I will shoot for the deluxeware first.1 point

It's unfair but I've always been biased against Pherrow's because of the branding 😅 That said, I still like the Deluxeware better here. I like that they're sort of out in the middle of nowhere Akita doing their own thing but still making a premium product. Always wanted a pair but waiting for something less than 15oz (if it ever comes, or maybe it has and I'm not paying attention).1 point

Thanks both! Sounds risky, especially on nice frames. I’m only really looking to take the sharp(ish) edge off, they fit perfectly so would need to do so without affecting the overall shape at all. I’ve got an old inexpensive pair lying around which I may attempt it on. I’ve got a few polishing wheels for the Dremel I could try. It’s really such a minor detail it’s almost not worth it but as with most of the topics here, those minor details can make all the difference!1 point

I bought my last clothing item of 2024, yesterday. Picked up a Flat Head LS Glory Park off eBay for cheap. I will be going on a buying hiatus for the duration of this contest. I have done this a couple of times, but only for a year at a time, so wish me luck. For me, it's a good reminder of how easily I go from "wanting" something to telling myself I "need" it; it saves you a decent amount of cash but, crucially, "re-love" items I have forgotten about. Anything during that time that I know I won't wear or didn't enjoy wearing goes up for sale. My 311s will be a good steadfast reminder of keeping to that promise. I'm looking forward to starting this contest. Happy New Year, fellas!1 point

I usually doin't like pre distressed (though I do own some ha ha). These 1922 501 Ragtops have been a fav of mine since I bought them in 2014 IIRC. I wore the sh*t outta them for years. Also washed them more than I usually do because they were pre distressed and not raw. They have never been tight on me even when I was a lot heavier. Now they are very baggy on me but I still love wearing them because they are just so comfortable. Size 36/34 and I used to wear 38/34. If I were to buy them again today I would buy 34/34 of even 32/34.1 point

Good to see a bit of interest in SDA again, I like my SD-100 so much I’m considering a second pair to stash away for the future, something few other jeans have really ever had me thinking of doing. i should get a fit pic up, though noting that I tend to prefer my clothing probably a looser fit than most would consider as ‘fitting’ here. @smoothsailor has it right imo 😃1 point

A couple of lovely outfits from an old friend of the brand, with an octave mandolin, in his 916 1-1/2 breasted Common Coat in Khaki dyed Herdwick Check Casement and 122 hadal brown Pleat Back Trousers in corresponding Herdwick Stripe Casement. Then below with a Weaver's Stock shirt home-dyed green and an 886 Stock in Barge Blue Flannel. I love how the herdwick yarn pulls the cotton casement in after dyeing, giving a quilted effect.1 point
