German engineering, baby. Look at how little room I have in there for any wrenches lol. Changed my rear brakes, feeling good about it too since I didn't need to go to my dad for help for once. Rotors were toast and took a lot of PB Blaster, acetylene, and brute force to break free of the hub. Love road salt so much 😑. Also washed my jeans like 2 days ago because I wasn't thinking about having to do my brakes when I started the wash lol.8 points

Whether they’re trim or not is largely irrelevant and dependent on the physique of the wearer and whether they size correctly, up or down. From what I’ve read on the subject and according to experts such as @Paul T, LVC exaggerated some aspects of the cut in their models in order to differentiate them enough (and thereby justify them and possibly encourage us punters to buy multiple pairs).3 points

They are none of those 3 models, which are all LVC reproductions based on approximate interpretations of models extant at that time. If your question relates to which current LVC repro model they most closely resemble/align to then it is clearly not the 47s as the pair Nicholson is wearing has a paper patch. The film was released in 1975 and set in 1963. In that instance, Nicholson could be wearing a contemporary (ie mid-1970s) pair of Levi’s. If however, the costume department were aiming for something period correct, they should more closely align to an early 60s pair, which in current LVC terms would be most similar to the 55 model. I can’t quite tell whether they have hidden rivets or not but I think they do.3 points

The '51 does yield some nice fades, posting some various shots from Hoosier.3 points

Washed the WWII jeans last weekend, probably going to stash them away for a bit ahead of the WoM contest. I've really enjoyed wearing this pair so far, might be my all time favorite cut from OA.3 points

These are my momotaro 0405-v 15.7oz no battle stripe and exactly how I like it. this pair is a size 33W my more relaxed pair. I also have the exact pair in a 32W which still fit but a bit more snug in the waist. One tip I will give anyone with momotaro is the waist barely stretch more than 1cm and that’s pushing it. If u are stuck between two size go for the bigger one. As u can always wear a belt if needed. I soaked these once before wearing as u can still keep the rigid feeling without walking around in stiff cardboard feel. i am just below 5 10 and weigh 12.5 stones3 points

contrastingly… still in the s. canes 47s (find them both a little too stiff and traditionalist even though top block is heaven) gorpametora hybriddin’ 80s iteration of m65 / decathalon petroleum n feathers (n actual warmth) / lvc type 1 (best thing they evrar made [that i bought…]) / sc / timbolando & trusty ortlieb3 points

That’s funny, I feel pretty much the opposite. The S601XX are close to perfect jeans, for me. They fit dead on just like the R01, and like the R01 they’re made to extremely high standards with top notch materials. That’s great, because if I could just keep wearing R01s forever I probably would. The only issue is that the S601XX denim is too artificially slubby & too fast fading & doesn’t seem to rope and pucker as well as the standard 601XX denim, so I’m stuck having to go back and forth between these and my ‘51s.2 points

Had a similar situation, I booked a campsite for two nights I thought. My boy and I on our annual biketrip. came back from a day out, there was a big ass tent squeezed on “our” spot. i was like I don’t care , but the big ass tent family were waving their booking. so when they didn’t pay attention I checked my reservation. Turns out I made a wrong booking. put the tail between my legs and moved our tent. me and my boy swapped clothes , to try and confuse Mrs smooth sailor. his oversized clothing fit me fine. my clothes fit him better than on me. next generation their turn2 points

Good info. I was also thinking if it's set in 63 then a 55 cut would make sense but they look quite trim and I thought it could be a paper patch seeing how light coloured it was so a 60s-70s seems more likely but I wasn't 100%. Great looking pair of faded jeans though and the whole outfit really is perfect.1 point

One wash doesn’t shrink - tightens after washing then loosens. The denim stretches pretty much like most denim … it all depends on how much force is applied to it1 point

This dude also wears '51's (and also actual WWII vintage) and makes me want a pair every time I see them: https://www.instagram.com/p/C7L5_wCvOq3/ https://www.instagram.com/p/C5x21XMPt6O/?img_index=3 https://www.instagram.com/p/C-coP4SPa_u/?img_index=11 point

Same I gave away my entire collection which was mostly 90s punk and hip hop with some later electronic stuff sprinkled in. I ripped it all before I put it on a website called freecycle and an excited teenager came in a beat up el Camino to take it all. I think I made that gen z’ers day. sometimes I miss it but made a decision that photography books would be my primary physical collection - just didn’t have room for both.1 point

It's because there is nothing as lame as old people.. i was in End** last month with my 15yr old looking for jeans, i pulled a pair of Edwin's from the sale rail and he said "hell,no.. they look like something you would wear" When i was his age, i never saw any young folks with tattoos, just the occasional darts player in the pub with a patriotic forearm tatt.. polyester shirt, Farah sta-press and slip on shoes.. not exactly the steeze i wanted to emulate.. if you check out any old (c1988-1992) rave footage, not one single person has a visible tattoo.. from my memory, it was when Blood Sugar Sex Magic came out that the Chilli Peppers culturally questionable tatts became de rigueur that i started to see young'uns getting tattooed again with anything other than a regrettable Yosemite Sam. This kind of biz usually goes in cycles.. we don't want to do what our parents did but that doesn't seem to be the case with tatts.. my 20yr old cat sitter has hearts on one earlobe and stars on the other.. there is an attractive young woman working as bar staff in The Broadfield pub and her tattoos are so sketchy it's like i've drawn them with my left hand.. 4 or 5 small (5cm) outline tattoos but terribly drawn.. she's dressed well and wears clothing to accentuate them so she's obviously proud of the way she/they look and as a young woman she pulls it off.. but what i don't understand is she obviously wanted them to look badly drawn because it looks like the same person did them all... are young folk reacting against artists now? In other news **I pre-booked a parking space in Manchester's Northern Quarter to take my kid clothes shopping.. got back to the car and i had a parking ticket.. due to my dyslexia, i got a couple of the letters jumbled up.. i appealed the ticket explaining that the VRN looked exactly the same to me so i had paid for the parking space (I attached proof of purchase) .. they accepted my appeal then said "but don't do it again because next time you might not be so lucky" .. wtf! i can't help it? wankers!1 point

^ I think @Flash sold all his Nippers to Tony at https://www.fulmine.co.uk/collections/nippers and looks like there's still some available. Top kids jeans - Ryan knows his stuff and his lad looked super cool in them.1 point

Spent a long weekend in the Denver area, enjoyed some proper cooler weather. Even saw some snow! That's a big deal for us. FW watch cap. FW M-1951. FW sweat. FW 1942. Blundstone.1 point
