haha i'll get there in due time. and then i'll finally cut down my seat post, but for the time being i'm just riding for fun not speed/form. thanks though.

It has nothing to do with speed or form. Your back and knees will thank you greatly If you lift that sucker up asap. In general your knee should only be slightly bent then you are in the "down" position of pedaling.

And for god sakes Put lube on the seat post when you do it!

haha then I guess i am a n00b. But yeah, I made sure to put grease on all of the parts when I built the bike. I need to use some naval jelly to get rid of the rust on the stem though. :\ although, the handlebars are fine position wise right now.

UP early Sunday morning. You might recognise our regular route, from Greenwich into the East End.

We took a different route - a new train line was supposedly up and running. Turned out the new station was closed, but it was still fun, making our way thru the backstreets, full of lawyers offices and little alleyways.

Alleys.jpg

One street, Artillery Lane, boasts shops fronts untouched for 200 years. THis one dates from around 1810:

The interior of the next shop along looked... interesting..

Balls-1.jpg

as usual there were guys out on the street up early, yer typical East End types.

We were in search of our usual fare: bagels. This was traditionally an old Jewish area, and they still have the best beigel shops in London.

The whole area is packed with old houses, shops, and an old church behind.

And this gorgeous old pub, the Ten Bells. I've mentioned it before. Two of Jack The Rippers victims, both down-at-heel hookers I guess, used to drink here - it's rumoured he picekd them up in the pub. The first time I went in, I noticed lots of Victorian newspaper cuttings on the wall, detailing his crimes. I sat down for a drink and was distrurbed by a woman in a leopard print bikini asking for money. I put a couple of quid in her beer glass to keep her quiet. A couple of minutes later, some music started up, she climbed up on the next table and started stripping off the bikini. That's old school East End. Sadly, the pub is now full of web designers, tourists, fashion types these days.

Whenever I see this car, I think of Pomata and Italian cool. . Nipper wears Gap sale top and chambray shirt, H&M selvage and Docs

This is an amazing area. It was home to the Huguenots... then a wave of Jewish Immigration in Victorian times. But since then, what was one of London's first synagogues has now been converted to a Mosque, in this dusty old building.

Mosque.jpg

Still, there's a diverse bunch of people around

Hasidim.jpg

We skipped around the market quickly. But dropped in an a friend, Sean, who's opened a shop with old tin toys, where we've bought lots of presents for kids' birthdays, etc. THis robot, a reissue of a 50s design, might be the next purchase. It spins crazily....

SpinningRobot.jpg

We had to rush back to Greenwich, then up by the waterfront, Woolwich, a huge old industrial estate. Which has cheap rehearsal rooms. Was a bit of a nostalgic experience, sniffing that dodgy studio smell again.

Rehearsal.jpg

Later in the evening. THis is a great weekend for us. Or me. There's a beautiful building nearby, The Naval College, which was built as a home for retired and distressed sailors. Right from its beginnings in the 1700s they they had a brewery on the site - all the inmates drank beer, rather than water, as this was 'safer'. Recently, they found the spring that served the brewery, and an (excellent) local brewery, Meantime has opened up a new outlet, brewing beer in the original spot, from the same spring. This was their opening weekend.

Lovelybeer.jpg

THis is the main attraction. Greenwich Hospital Porter. 8 per cent. Mmmmmm. Tastes of licorice and makes yer head buzz.

Hospitalporter.jpg

Obilgatory denim shot. Gap anniversary selvage shirt, another sale item. LVC Blue Blood jacket.

The Walk Home

On the way back, round to a friend's to pick up the evening's entertainment. I love the cheesy sleeve illustration.

WhereEaglesDare.jpg

Usually, I cook dinner. TOnight, it's the nipper's turn. Only one problem: chopping the onions.

(I don't encourage him to do daft things like this for photo purposes, it is entirely of his own accord).

Onions.jpg

SO, I've just eaten my pasta,, my head is buzzing with Meantime beer, , and the theme tune of Where Eagles Dare is starting up now. Perfection. HAve a great evening, everyone.

went for a walkaround town in one of the suburbs in sydney today. this place is called newtown and there were lots of quaint little places and bric-a-brac stores and lots of places to eat at. nice little community they have over here, pretty laid back and stuff.

started off the day by heading to this second hand bookstore. they had tons and tons of books, old magazines, records, VHS tapes, old movies, old porn and stuff like that. quaint little place with a musty smell.

_MG_1267.jpg

blazing hot temperatures outside took my girlfriend and i to an ice cream parlour called "cold rock". your typical ice cream parlour. we had 3 different flavours mixed into a cup with malteeser fillings. peppermint ice cream, milo and some chocolate flavour. mint was good on a hot hot day.

_MG_1271.jpg

headed to this small little flea market. didnt take a lot of pictures there but it was a pretty small flea market with lots of old people. saw this cute little pikachu tamagotchi thing.

_MG_1274.jpg

got hungry after that and walked past this place called "Guzman Y Gomez" where they served your typical mexican fare, burritos, nachos and the likes.

_MG_1278.jpg

got ourselves nacho. not having traditional mexican fare often, i thought it looked pretty authentic. i thought nachos were only supposed to go with cheese but i was wrong, this was mind-blowing.

_MG_1275.jpg

after lunch we walked into this magazine store called "MAGNATION" and they had some pretty sweet interiors.

_MG_1285.jpg

sold tote bags too and i thought this was pretty cool but didnt buy it.

_MG_1286.jpg

stationery

_MG_1287.jpg

they had these hardcover journals they colour coded and i thought they were pretty neat.

_MG_1288.jpg

so basically we hung around the store till it was almost time to get back home. so what my jeans did today sufu, what did yours do?
