getting a sim only contract from softbank is truly a pain. not sure about AU. might be best to sell your current phone and get a new one with AU (softbank coverage is pretty shabby).

i highly recommend b-mobile (nihon tsushin).

the only problem is that they only offer microSIM and regular SIM cards.

if you have an iphone 5, it's not even worth messing around with prepaid SIM cards.

Also, you need to make sure your phone is unlocked.

I actually cut my docomo / bmobile SIM last night. My iphone 5 didn't recognize it.

It was all right b/c my contract is expiring in two days and I'll be in the US then.
