I would have told you the same: with WH it arrives when it arrives. Was with every release so far.

And the answer is always: Both!

Yes I imagined that was going to be the answer, how mysterious and tantalising it all is!

Very, very good answer also. Maybe I do just have to have both.

Did anybody register change of color of leather patch on 220A ? After initial wash, I washed them only once, almost after 3 months in. Wash was done in standard condition... 30 degrees, long cycle, inside out. After initial wash the patch was same as new.

Hi b_F. Can you please share your experience with shrinkage of those beauties. They have on inside patch SANFORIZED. I bought those Lee 101B repro from Noaki too. But Noaki says, they are not sanforized.

Did you buy the last W34 he had? I know it says sanforized but I doubt it is. Naoki said he wore this pair twice already and if he says its unsanforized, it definitely is.

Because of this I only cold soaked my pair as I am quite fat ATM. Gonna wash later when I lost some weight again.

Maybe could be a reason I washed them together with FC western shirt. But it's OW and I washed it already third time.

Yeah, I bought last pair of them in size W34. Also Noaki wrote that denim doesn't shrink too much, but is not sanforized. Any way I plan to wear them next year, but would like to know how much cm's to let them hem.

Did you register some changes after cold soak ?

Ok. I take note of that. Waist shouldn't be a problem it has around 89 cm and usually it's going back to origin. And I think 5 cm of hemming off would be sufficient. Inseam is really very long 90,5 cm...

I finally found an Orrizonti era WWII pair. Denim has a completely different weight and feel from 66 and XX. Curious what you know of this pair BF. Awesome details, wonky pocket shape with my dream of a shorter rise to round out a perfect-for-me 40s fit.

And yes there is a bit of aging on the denim from sun and rubbing on creases. 20240402_123434.thumb.jpg.35c21057af08379441a6793ceb6bc927.jpg20240402_123353.thumb.jpg.d8c12d873d2b4edfac015b04dbe36049.jpg20240402_123358.thumb.jpg.e3cec6021554a89299980ea0b9f55a0a.jpg20240402_123439.thumb.jpg.b30d9aa1e3aac4f57c2ec2f4a2781e91.jpg

Great pick up @Graytrain! The sun fades just add to the character. There are floating w30 and w31 around on Yahoo but not many in a good condition (although I think there's a W31 one-wash for 50k available right now...)

As you probably know, there is not much info around. The denim is different to the XX and 66 denim. It is lighter, I think 13.5oz or so. And it will fade more into a lighter blue. Not as white/grey like Denime usually does.

Edit: it was a W30. Here it is

My job here is done. 100% correct!

Wow, pristine condition.

Apart from the oxidized rivets, yes ☺️

Are you planning on gaining weight to fit these BF? 😆

In Denime's 60s pairs I prefer a W36. My 66XXs are W36 as well. And these are a BigE model, so 60s.

That’s a great catch Tilmann, they’re in amazing condition. I had to refer to an old Lightning Denim Book from 2006 to find a picture of them! Did the listing describe them accurately?

Nope, not at all. They just wrote about an "uncle" that had these stored away.

On first sight I just thought "another 66XX in deadstock condition, oh well".

Then, on the second sight I noticed the leather patch looking off...and of course a L36 is not on the 66XX. Then the V-stitch and I knew they are the 15th anniversary.

Also, the thin ‘X’ on the patch rather than the thick, outline ‘X’ that represents XX models indicates that they’re not a 66XX pair doesn’t it? I hope that makes sense 🫠

I would be lying if I would say I know the answer. All other Denime jeans I have (including standard 66) have the outline X.

If this would be an indicator, it feels like Samurai's way to describe their jeans through the patch :D

But I guess this was just a design for the anniversary pair. But maybe there are more models with this thin X?!

Anyway, according to old blogs this model uses the same denim as the WW2 model. So definitely no XX denim.

The following models have the thin X on the patch according to photos in that Lightning Denim Book. There may be others but the photos are too small to tell:

  • Tokyo
  • Kyoto
  • 1988E
  • new 505
  • new WW2
  • 15th anniversary
  • 606

Damn, you are right! Didn't check my Tokyo model.

So it's still some kind of detail for special models.

The leather of the patch also seems to be different to the standard models. But no idea what animal it is from.

Measurements:

W36
Waist: 36.5"
Front rise: 12"
Back rise: 16"
Thighs: 14"
Knee: 9.5"
Leg opening: 9"
Inseam: 35.75"
