Is the normal weight sweatshirt still under the Power Wear label?
I’ve not been able to decipher any code that indicates a different line from the heavyweight models.

Are the cut and fit the same? Thanks.

Yes, both are Power Wear. It’s usually listed in the specific name of the product and you can tell with the cuffs being a different shape (though I’m not 100% if that is always the case). The “special heavy weight” that I’ve seen has the sleeve cuff that angles back to a point on the inner side of the wrist/forearm. From what I’ve experienced, the cut and fit is pretty similar between the two - take your normal size.

Pics of the tags and cuffs below. I’ll try to get a detail shot of the pile inside the sweat to show the difference. It looks roughly twice as thick and I think it’s quite warm and insulating for a cotton sweatshirt.

FW folks feel free to add or correct anything I missed or got wrong.

Here are some photos of the inside of the sweatshirts. I think it comes across through the crappy iphone pics. The special heavy weight has a noticeably thicker and heavier pile.

In my experience, the regular weight sweatshirts are either tighter to start with or more prone to shrink. I've multiple heavy weight sweats that still fit me but the one regular weight piece I bought I ended up selling.

Let us know how you feel about the extreme rise.
never thought I’d find a pair that has too high of a rise until these …

^ The 1947s?? Aren’t they cut pretty regular? I think of the S601xx as the higher rise option

Never seen anything that high. Look at the button fly.
either above belly button or crotch tent for me.

Further reminder that this denim hobby is a slow game (not that we need it)

The reason the worn-in pic looks totally staged is because it is 😃

My 'photographer' teenage son landed a massive fluke, I mean deliberate picture with near identical foot position and jacket bluster due to the right to left wind in the park (no, it's not a trial for Instagram 😉 and no idea what app you use to collate 2 pictures)!!

Same kit, except the jeans have been hemmed and the chambray is different

Oh and the people on the bench... they'd gone and we couldn't find them

3 years (and a bit) apart, Dec 2021 to Jan 2025... slow game indeed...

OK ok I hear you... I'll go back to standing in front of a wall again next time 😉

Apologies in advance as I know I've seen this discussed before but I can't seem to find it through search—

I've got a pair of 32 601xx 1947's which fit me perfectly. Good in the waist, comfortable room in the top block and thigh. Should I go with the same size 601rb? I thought I saw somewhere that they fit more like the 51's? Is that going to make the top block and thigh a good bit tighter at the same size?

I have the 51’s and it’s essentially the same cut. Same size.

@gmn This what you were looking for?

Pretty much all answers to your question are on the previous page. From what I can see there’s both cases of having gone with usual size and sizing up 1 from their usual FW size.

You’re right… my mistake 🤦🏻‍♂️. Definitely thought it was much further back than that but maybe there was another discussion.

It's been mentioned before but Freewheelers is really pretty good with sizing consistency. It doesn't mean you can't wear 2 different sizes from them, but it does mean that if you're a 32 in one of their jeans and have a pretty proper, traditionally aligned fit, then a 32 in any of their jeans is probably what's going to correspond to the intent of the original pattern. If the waist itself is a little different, that's probably on account of the rise being a little bit different.

This is my own opinion that I've also mentioned before but I think if one has to size up for a suitable top block that's indicative it's quite possibly just not a great cut for someone. A too loose waist that tapers down isn't a great look most of the time. Not that it doesn't work sometimes for some people, but something else - a fuller cut - will probably work better.
