Did they credit you for it?

Also for film recommendations it depends on what you're shooting. I prefer kodak portra though

I was credited in the comments and they follow me now.  The Pic went viral on tumblr so its understandable they wouldnt know who took it at first. I signed a deal with universal a few weeks back for some photos so one of the A and R guys let me know they posted it. Pretty cool feeling haha.

I'm looking at improving my photography skills... My family has a Canon Rebel T3i that no one really uses, and I just wanted to be able to take better shots when we go on vacation trips... I bought a 50mm lens this summer to mess around with it but never got around to feeling comfortable enough with the camera, so I put it down and never got to pick it up again. Do you guys have any advice besides going out there and taking more pictures?

^ Look at great photographers and see what you like, be it their concept or aesthetic.

Begin drawing parallels – connecting the dots their between technique, gear and the resulting aesthetic and then reference this back to yourself.

Shoot more, look at your work, decide if you are going where you want yourself to go, adapt/change accordingly, repeat x 1,000,000

Think this applies to anything art based, esp. for those not fortunate enough to be born a 'genius'.

I agree it's best to start in most art forms with some sort of reference. Find a style you like, do that then it will be time to break out and do your own thing like for instance out a twist on whatever you're using as inspiration and make it your own.
