At the end of the day, it's about style. These jeans have a very deliberate style and if it isn't what you're looking for, it isn't gonna work. Many jeans intentionally try to be completely non-descript (WH1001, SD101, SC47, etc.) and that makes them blend easily into simple, generic outfits (not meat as a pejorative, but perhaps a little shade thrown). The 0105 is aggressively anti-fit and requires you to lean into that for it to work. In the 13.7, you may be able to finesse the sizing to avoid that, but on the SS it just is what it is. I love them both and I have the SS tux. Every time I wash my WoM and I put on my SS pair, I miss it. The big ol' saggy butt and easy fit feels so good and is easy for me to work into a tucked shirt, lower on the waist paired with loafers easy day outfit. I also wore my 13.7s last week while doing some motorcycle maintenance. Damn, still my all time favorite pair of jeans. Hands down.9 points

One of my oldest, dearest friends whipped me up some custom jeans His brand is Blake Edward, and these are his Style one jeans. I sourced the denim from another friend, which I believe is Kuroki? High rise, wide leg 4 pocket jean with deep front and back pockets The front pocket shape is so good - easily fits my hands while simultaneously, comfortably, and securely takes a knife or tape measure due to their J shape I can’t wear blue jeans to work these days, so these’ll get wear tested 5 days a week4 points

@yung_flynn they are waiting patiently in the queue. I've worn them a few times - imo they are excellent jeans and, agreed, relatively simple. The denim is coarse and full of character. Fit-wise very spacious, in a good way. I'm glad I bought them.1 point

this might be a dumb question or something you've already considered, but are your files the right format? JPG? If you're shooting with an iPhone sometimes you can make .heic (the live captures) that get cranky with different applications, but that can be turned off easily.1 point

Here' more to chew on b_F -- a quote from redcastheritage: Moonstar sizes run slightly large. If you are between sizes or do not plan to wear them with thick socks, we recommend sizing down one size. Moonstar sizes are similar to Converse Chucks.1 point

That's some great stuff right there @reubensangwich - in that last photo they are definitely a pair of '1937' 501XX but have had the cinch strap completely removed as well as the rivets (a little dark hole being the tell tell sign). Also that same first shot, amazing shape of the arcuate where it hits (almost) the bottom of the vertical side of the back pocket. Also, that pair in the middle with the match strikes, they are 1937 model also imo.1 point

Some shots of my M-35 pullover. These are made by Kaoru same as the M-54 jeans and Type IIs and the Bartack Alls stuff. There was also a different version for Foremost with the proper tin US Army buttons. I don't mind having donut buttons instead, less likely to drop off 😄 denim is pretty hairy (with a few extra dog hairs thrown in) Think the hem roping is going to be bananas.1 point

Inherited this very cool Soviet watch, don’t know much about it but I really like the look. It keeps time really well and even has a mechanical alarm! The twisty hand sets the alarm time and the top knob winds it up, and it buzzes (for quite a while depending on how much you’ve wound it) when the hour hand aligns with it. So cool!1 point

I think it's probably caused by the small shoulder measurements of the Merz tshirts. We will see how the Whitesville will fit after wash Edit: agreed with the prices of Merz. I think i bought all my tshirts on sale.1 point

@atwm, thanks! Glad your family member is doing fine. Yes, the initial recovery sucks, mainly due to the catheter. If you've never had one, count yourself lucky. I also had a hernia that was fixed (got a buy one get one free), so my recovery is a little more painful and restrictions are longer. @MJF9, yep the dreaded rubber glove test. Which has been skipped at some of my annual physicals. My advice don't skip it! Ask for it if they aren't going to do it. They did detect a "nodule" during mine which was a cancerous tumor (found by followup MRIs). My doctor recommended the PSA check starting at age 55 or so for me. I had just switched to him. It increased each year (big warning sign). I think everyone should include it in their bloodwork, along with other things that can be tested (google all of the blood tests that can be done). Typically, at least in my area, that annual physical covers a "general" battery of tests on your blood. Including your PSA and testosterone level should be added at the least. If you baseline those now and test each year, it can help as an indicator of health changes. @Maynard Friedman thanks! Because my cancer didn't spread beyond the tumor, I have a great chance of being cancer free going forward. I'll have to order up some Studio D's from PSA for a WAYWT,1 point

@buler thanks for sharing and the advice. Shocking how these things just come out of nowhere. I’d never heard of tracking the trend on the PSA score – appreciate the tip. A mate of a mate, who I know, recently had prostrate C. He had zero symptoms. He did a test (PSA and the dreaded rubber glove) because his brother came down with it so he got worried. He also caught it early, had the treatment and is in recovery. Best wishes – looking forward to your next ‘normal’ WAYWT in due course!1 point

Thanks @MJF9! Hope to be added to the list of cancer survivors. I guess I'll make this a PSA (public service announcement) on the PSA (prostrate specific antigen). All men should know (eventually) about their PSA level. It is a possible indicator of prostate cancer. If your general physician doesn't do an annual test for this in your blood labs, have them add it. While it's not a 100% fool proof test, if it is rising (hence the annual check to keep tabs) and you also have other symptoms (which can be very vague) then an MRI may be warranted. My story is no drug use, no smoking, low alcohol use and only one person with cancer in my family background. But the symptoms can be very little things that add up over time and you may pass them off as "I'm getting older". Pay attention to your urinary function and your sexual function and give all details (even minor) to your doctor. It can add up to an aggressive tumor in your prostrate, which can also spread cancer to other regions (luckily, mine did not). I'm just putting this out there because it may help even one of you catch things early!! Stay healthy and listen to your body. Cheers1 point

File this under reflections. Home recovering from surgery and I realize how often we take for granted how nice it is to just be "normal". I would love to be able to just normally go to the bathroom, shower, or put on a pair of jeans right now. I will try to remember this when I return to normal.1 point

This deserves more rep! Maybe not for everyone here but this is an amazing watch. My current favourite is a Junghans Max Bill, one of the original configurations, with plexiglass crystal. It's on a titanium mesh strap today but I also like it very much on black apple leather with Working SKEWed Slack Jeans1 point

A big part of why TFH was so popular ~15 years ago is that back then, there was a lot less variety on the specialty denim market. TFH's denim was closely associated with dramatic fading, and pretty unique in how dark it was - Eternal was the only brand with a similar vibe. That was before the rise of retailers like Okayama Denim or Denimio that catered to the tastes of the Reddit/Instagram crowd and subsequent rise in over-engineered denim with highly exaggerated texture and color, and before the creation of most southeast Asian brands catering to a similar very heavy and abrasive sort of fabric. TFH had a reputation for being the denim that led to the Sickest Fades. Flat Head's denim has never stopped being great, but over time it came to occupy a sort of middle space in between the traditional/heritage style denim represented by Warehouse, Full Count, Denime, TCB, (most) Sugar Cane, etc. and heavily engineered denim of PBJ, Samurai, Oni, Iron Heart, and so on. The people wanting extreme fades gravitated toward more extreme denim, and those seeking more traditional jeans were less interested in brands like TFH as well. Finally, changing tastes in the community in terms of styling meant that TFH's arcuates/branding/etc. that had once looked cool to the streetwear crowd, were again either too much for traditionalists, or not enough for extreme fans. I think TFH could have stayed popular if they had followed the lead of other third and fourth-wave Japanese brands in catering to the more extreme tastes of international fans, but I have a pretty low opinion of 29 oz hyper-slub rainbow weft denim so I don't think this would have been worth it. I admire TFH for sticking to their guns and taking a generally more reserved approach to their fabric development than most brands. And in my opinion, the mid-late 2000s fabrics represented the height of pushing the boundaries of selvedge denim - I don't think modern gimmicky fabrics have surpassed TFH's 14.5 oz, Samurai's 15 oz Otokogi or 17 oz denim, PBJ's XX-011 or XX-005 denim, and so on. Along the way they made some missteps like with the ultrasuede stuff, but I think the impact of this on their popularity was inconsequential; this hardly made it outside of Japan, Pronto is the only retailer I can recall which carried jeans featuring those arcs, and the flashier back pocket designs generally played better in the Thai market back then anyway. I do think that dialing back the rockabilly look and going for a broader vintage basics aesthetic the last few years has worked well for them. Fits are also worth mentioning, TFH had trouble keeping on top of the whims of the international denim community. They had a relaxed tapered fit, the 3012, all the way back in 2013 but the timing was off; it was a few years too early, and seemed to flop. It had already been canceled by the time these fits were all the rage in the latter end of the 2010s. This has largely been resolved though and they have a pretty good lineup of fits at this point. I'm daily driving my 3003xx jeans and 6002W denim jacket, both old stock I got off Japanese auction sites. The 3003xx has to be my favorite fit I've ever worn, the leg is about the same as my 3005s but these jeans have a noticeably longer rise which leads to a more comfortable, better looking pair. And of course the painted arcs and red tab are very cool and quite rare at this point. I'll probably share some updates on those around the end of summer.1 point

Celluloid has the S3100VX in a 33 waist (and also 31 and 32 if anyone else is interested) for the JP domestic price - no tabs or arcs though. Similar to Fullcount, I think that Celluloid may be the cheapest place to get Samurai stuff now after they adjusted their international pricing model. Ordering from them is pretty painless too. Samurai Jeans S3100VX Zero + Taisen Model Wide Straight 17oz Zero + Selvedge Denim SAMURAI JEANS 2025 - Celluloid Self Edge seems to have stock of both the 3000 and 3100 models as well - no arcs or tabs either though.1 point

3009, wasn’t too keen on these but the measurements fit the bill. Having a dozen of so pairs that I retire after a couple years, I told myself I’ll machine wash these often and wear them until they’re beyond repair. Didn’t care for the vertical fading at first but that has seemed to vanish. Extremely fast fading, these aren’t even at 2 years yet. Darned the crotch professionally and doing self repairs now. By far the best fitting slim straight pairs I’ve owned. also I wanted to add, I believe washing maching significantly increases fabric wear. The first photo was right before a wash, then the last 2 photos show fraying in several spots including the knees, right after a gentle cycle no spin1 point

Hey all. Here are my 710, worn regularly for at least two years. I bought them in 2016 when Hayashi-san did a meet and greet in Hong Kong but only starting wearing them around 2019 I think. Really loved these jeans - My all time favourite pair - and they held up well, only blowing out at the back pocket and knee eventually. They look more washed out IRL but you get the idea…1 point

speaking of old Fxxx and pioneer v. frontier... from the dark ages and at one point having a pair of both F380 and F350 (which were still the best patterned pair i've worn). was doing a little closet cleaning and found this pair in an old bin... wish i would have had some foresight about 17 years ago and bought about 4 more pairs of these... dig that pocket shape1 point
