Droopy ass is why I sold my SS pair. I like to think I’m actually not that picky on fits. But it only got worse with a few wears. Hip flare? Whatever. Diaper butt - who cares, these are jeans. Little bit of camel toe bunching in the front. Meh, whatever. But the SS droopy ass was something else, the fabric was just so drapey and the rise so high and elastic, and that was sizing down one from my 13.7 oz pair. Oh well.1 point

I must admit I’m sort of falling out of love a little with my 0105. I have two pairs on the go, both about 2 years old. One I’ve washed about weekly and the other only once. I can’t fault the fabric but I have a love hate with the fit. When worn pulled up properly with a tucked shirt/tee, the disparity in the rise creates a really unattractive illusion of the front sagging under my belly. Now I’m not saying I couldn’t do with losing a pound or two but it’s a look I don’t get with other jeans. I also get a bit of a bootcut vibe when the leg twist gets so severe it flicks the hem out but to be fair that’s more a symptom of straight leg fits in general than these specifically. Despite the above, I still think it’s a solid fit but I’d love a slightly lower back rise.1 point

Contrast enhancement looks to be quite common last time I checked - which admittedly was some years ago. As for Ai being all marketing fluff, agree there’s a hype machine reminiscent of the crypto/NFT boom. It’s gross. but LLMs are also rapidly changing many things in a lot of fields. To personalize it, if AI helps in leading to more specialized and targeted treatments that can eliminate the rest of my son’s brain tumor - which is possible - I will absolutely sing its praises. It was already modern tech development that played a large role in why he’s still alive today. Or if it leads to something similar for someone else, same thing. And it very well may. AI generative imagery is also based on the theft of artists from everywhere is rapidly leading to an internet full of even shittier (and nonsensical) ads while killing many parts of the photography industry, where I started my career and still participate some. So my feelings are complicated but if I had to choose I’d take advances in healthcare which are real and which techno detractors have not yet answered to in a satisfactory way. For an anti Kingsnorthian sort of take I think it’s worth a read. Personally sort of fall in between this writer who is too high on it and Kingsnorth who writes with the same sort of comprehensive blinders he had when he was an environmental writer. Though I’m still a fan. https://www.persuasion.community/p/the-peculiar-persistence-of-the-ai1 point

Some nice fades from Inoue-san's Late S40s jeans on IG. Makes me excited to keep wearing mine, though I've mostly been in my TFH 3003xx lately. https://www.instagram.com/p/DM2txoMT550/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MWN4dTluYWZvOW8xcw==1 point

Because "AI" is utopian marketing fluff for large language modeling and (thankfully) not an actual artificial intelligence, and I have a very low opinion of the whole thing in general. After I wrote that post, it occurred to me that someone might also respond that such an idea isn't new and 20 years ago you could photoshop your fades to cheat at a denim competition/general clout for posting pictures online, which is quite true, but the difficulty of doing this (especially convincingly) is a lot higher than telling ChatGPT to Enhance The Fades. Actually now I'm wondering if there have been any documented cases of somebody being found out for faking/photoshopping fades, whether for a contest or anything else. I can't remember hearing of that happening, but perhaps I missed it.1 point

Haha yeah this exactly, happens to me every time! Average 20k steps per day, smaller portion sizes, stopped working out (lost muscle mass), overall heat killed the appetite compounded by being there for over a month! Goal is to live there permanently by end of year, so hoping to keep off the weight long term1 point

The de minimis exemption is now ending next month for the US. Get your jeans ordered from Japan before August 29th1 point

Not the best fit pics here but happy with these. The drape particularly at the back is really good. I've had to Japanese cuff though as too long despite the hemming by FC. I should have asked for more off as hadn't taken the rise in consideration. Maybe a wash will knock a bit off the lenght. Super comfortable. Totally get why these are so popular.1 point

Meanwhile, patched over the opening to the left front pocket earlier this week with fabric from the cut off hem of one of my Tender Co. shirts, dyed w/ Prussian blue. I’ve stitched over a few seams, previously, but this is the first real repair—almost always is, for me. I really love how the pocket bag denim is fading; it’s a beautiful rich blue. Plus: photos before the upcoming wash, I think no. 5 or 6?1 point

The (now) annual Dad and lad weekend away in the Peak District, infamous OO Soul country Quick pit stop en-route at Porter Coffee on Sharrow Vale road - £17 for 2 butties and £1 for parking - how much! Hardly a Sheffield accent to be heard, southern tones aplenty - gentrification of S-codes? Took the WoMs for a walk around Bamford Edge... totally staged pic looking out over the Hope Valley It's a strictly carnivorous weekend - we packed 4.4kg (yes I weighed it) of ribeye, T-bone, lamb... will we get through it all is the question And a sauna to finish the day off...1 point

Everyday drivers. Right pocket shredded due to everyday pocket knife usage. Will have to repair. Rear pocket rivets trying to eat their way through. Really enjoying the weight of this denim; has truly made wearing jeans in the summer bearable. I just gave them their second wash this weekend, and here they are after air drying: I gotta figure out best way to tackle the pocket. Looks like everyone’s patch design has disappeared, so sad about it! Would be a cool graphic for Simone to put on a t-shirt though! 👀 lovely seeing all of the pics and adventures of you guys. Will try to update more1 point

Most of their tees are a bit much. Especially the Harley tee with put something exciting between your legs and the last poke saloon. I get they’re based on old stuff but just not things I’d ever feel comfortable wearing in public especially with my wife and kids.1 point

No, they are reissues. I would love to have a issued 83 someday! Nice CWC, especially on the 18mm phoenix! 👍🏻1 point

The 1937 501XX models. 1. 1935- early 1937 (?) 501XXC prototype model Pre-pocket flasher model with leather patch probably reading 501XXC (the C standing for covered or concealed?) Copper rivets throughout, with flat bottomed concealed back pocket rivets. From September 1936 onwards the 501 used the smaller 1st issue red tab (10mm as opposed to the normal 12/13mm) placed high on the back pocket. Copper riveted on leather patch. 10oz denim. Mix of orange and yellow stitching. Buckle is either silver colour or two tone copper plated/silver. No images available. 2. 1937 501XX (1937-41 model) First pocket flasher model (dated 1937) informing customers about the new "concealed copper rivets". Larger 12/13mm red tab, cleaner construction throughout. Mostly orange stitching, buckle is usually two tone copper plated/silver. This is the most common model, produced for around 3 or 4 years. 3. 1941 501XX (1941-1942 model) Reverse yoke model where the left and right top panels (yoke) are overlapping the left and right bottom (leg) panels. Still comes with 1937 dated pocket flasher and copper used in all rivets. Mostly orange stitching apart from the chainstitched waistband where black thread is sometimes used. The concealed rivets are rounded copper type, different than its predecessor. Both types of buckle used during this period but on occasion a black painted buckle has been used. This model is less common than the 1937 model. 4. 1942 501XX (April-August 1942) New 1942 dated pocket flasher stating "concealed pocket rivets", New 12oz(?) denim, yoke reversed back to pre-1941 construction, mix of orange and yellow stitching, Black anodized buckle briefly used during this short period although one example found looks to have a silver one. Back pocket concealed rivets are now a rounded shape and use copper coated iron, the others are still pure copper until August 1942 when all WPB's were implemented for the S501XX model. This model is the rarest of the main three types commonly found. The Anomaly: I have seen quite a few pairs of 501XX from the period 1935-1942 which have constantly contradicted the notion that the left over right back leg panels construction change came in around 1941. I have seen pairs with 1941 and 1937 details but the construction is still left over right. Hope all my ramblings make sense?1 point
