MRs and Junior MJF9 grew this avocado plant from seed during lockdown, making it about 5 years old. I read they can take 10 years to bear fruit. However, in the north of Engerland it might be a stretch... we'll find out in 5 years... watch this space ... (I'm no gardener but think it needs a bigger pot)11 points

Since I’m here I’ll share my Leica m10-d. This is, for my purposes, the best digital camera ever made. I could go on about why but I won’t. Maybe tied with the m10 monochrome (which I also use). I got this awhile back for a great deal and it had barely any shutter actuations on it. A gem of a find. It’s always laying around the house somewhere because I tend to use it every day or close to it. There are newer cameras with better specs etc but they’re not better cameras.10 points

Picked up a pair of the banner denim 220XX-47's in Japan at the Warehouse flagship. Funny enough, I liked them more than the WH pairs I tried on 😂5 points

earlier this week. Rick Owens copying Oakley, Helmut Lang copying Fred Perry from 1997 I think and Helmut copying Levi’s from the 00’s as well, but the wescos are real. Been recovering from surgery this summer and have only been fading a lovely pair of black warp/grey weft drkshdw jeans… I’ll have to make a post in Unknown Non-Japanese Brands when I get around to taking pics5 points

Yup, releases hit stores in November or so, it's super super limited as they only allowed each retailer to buy 50 pieces of each item. We have jackets and jeans coming from the collection at our stores.3 points

Bought this beauty. My ‘grail’ acoustic guitar. Martin D-28. I think it’s from around 2018. In my 25 years of playing, I’ve purchased a few nice electric guitars but never a higher end acoustic. I’d been casually looking for a D-28 and then a family friend mentioned he was selling this one. He’d been gifted it by a family member but always found it too large to comfortably play. He sold this to me so he could get a 000-sized alternative and it worked out well for all of us. Being able to buy a used guitar whilst knowing how well it had been cared for was an opportunity I couldn’t miss! Looking forward to holding on to this one forever.3 points

A buddy took a trip to Tokyo to visit a friend who teaches English there. He said he (and his body) were so impressed by the quality of the food there; even at convenience stores. Here in the states there’s just so much garbage that silently makes it into our food.2 points

Haha yeah this exactly, happens to me every time! Average 20k steps per day, smaller portion sizes, stopped working out (lost muscle mass), overall heat killed the appetite compounded by being there for over a month! Goal is to live there permanently by end of year, so hoping to keep off the weight long term2 points

All the walking I bet. When I was in Japan, I lost weight while eating a ton. Averaged like 25k steps a day...2 points

It wouldn’t make a difference at this point. They’re already twice as dirty after one week unfortunately. I strip them off at the door along with my work boots when I get home because. I had them nice and clean for a week vacation, 20 minutes back at work I spilled sewer sludge down the entire right side of my leg. I figure I’ll wait til I’m done this project before washing again. Hopefully there’s no oil stain from the run off 🤢1 point

Walk a lot, eat little, and only high-quality food. Seems like a win-win option. Here, in Ukraine in wartime conditions, many people cope with stress by eating more. Maybe they’re storing fat just in case. That applies to me too. One way or another, I keep seeing lots of people who are overweight.1 point

Some interesting info regarding the denim they used on the jackets (I thought it would be standard XX but it's the WW2 denim). I also read before the 15th anniversary pair should use the WW2 denim but it is not said on the homepage, yet the description of the denim sounds the same. Too bad we don't have info regarding the Orizzonti era1 point

@nopal well right, it’s pretty clearly evident with the Ueki’s tab, but when I cover the right half of my warehouse tab, it doesn’t quite trick the eye in the same way. Maybe I’ll have some more Yellow Spot.1 point

Thanks for sharing man - these look great and I'd never heard of this brand before. Currently have my tape measure out sizing them up against another pair. Think I might go for it!1 point

It's weird for me too. Some threads—"Nice Things" for example—it takes me to the newest reply when I click on the title. The "Self Edge" or "The Flat Head" thread, it takes me to the page before while other threads take me to the top of the latest page. I wish it would just take me to newest unread across the board. Interestingly, the SE and TFH replies per page are way more than any others so I think there is a bug for me.1 point

^ There’s an option somewhere in your user settings to have the topic title operate the same as the third option you’ve listed, which I find useful1 point

Not the best fit pics here but happy with these. The drape particularly at the back is really good. I've had to Japanese cuff though as too long despite the hemming by FC. I should have asked for more off as hadn't taken the rise in consideration. Maybe a wash will knock a bit off the lenght. Super comfortable. Totally get why these are so popular.1 point

Yes, it works really well. I had read, that some, I think, sociologists had postulated, that a person's name is a not insignificant factor in a person's life, for example which career they're following and so on. I was travelling and talked to a fellow guest in a guest house about this. I asked him for his first name, it was Attila or Hannibal. And it turned out, that he was a history professor. So, in way, it seems that providence decided that Mr Ueki would go into the repro business. Not many names work so well on that tab. For many years I couldn't understand, why Warhouses tab says "GENUS".1 point
