I usually doin't like pre distressed (though I do own some ha ha). These 1922 501 Ragtops have been a fav of mine since I bought them in 2014 IIRC. I wore the sh*t outta them for years. Also washed them more than I usually do because they were pre distressed and not raw. They have never been tight on me even when I was a lot heavier. Now they are very baggy on me but I still love wearing them because they are just so comfortable. Size 36/34 and I used to wear 38/34. If I were to buy them again today I would buy 34/34 of even 32/34.3 points

@AlientoyWorkmachineI’m a big fan of military garments as I get older. The brand seems to emulate that with their offerings and their clothes fit good on my stature. I tried with Buzz but their clothes just didn’t fit right on my build. I originally came across the brand through Coverchord and bought a collab they did on a pair of denim that was similar to a pair of SC1947 I had, pink selvedge too. Sold that pair a while back which I wish I hadn’t.3 points

Just received my pair of Fullcount 0105 WW2 brown denim edition and as you can see in the photos, they aren’t exactly ‘wide’ on me. Funnily enough, they probably fit me closer to an actual WW2 repro then what I imagine the 0105 is supposed to fit. Sized to a 29 for my natural waist which was snug but has already stretched out nicely. Based off the measurements on Bears however, I wasn’t expecting such snug thighs and top block. In the side profile photo you can see they are borderline skin tight on the upper thigh (I can probably pinch about 1.5cm of fabric off the upper thigh). I was really banking on being able to size for the waist given all the discussion I see online about their generous thighs and also by collating measurements across distributors so they are already hemmed — hoping the magical 13.7oz fabric stretches out in the thigh/top block. Can anyone speak to stretching in that area?3 points

A few days ago, went back to my hometown briefly and saw some good friends, 25 years or more I've known all of these guys. None of us bowl, so it was a comedy of errors but a good time. The bowling alley in our town is almost no different than what it was in the 90's, save for the addition of electronic scorekeeping really. Even most of the arcade games are the same, though half were out of order. Whoever was running the jukebox had a great affinity for Ozzy and AC/DC. The t shirts were Creed centric. Almost like stepping in to the wayback machine. But, the place was busy!2 points

Happy new year all! Kicking off ‘25 with a slightly bizarre/stupid question. Has anyone ever tried ‘shaping’ acetate glasses? I’ve got a pair of the Japan made Tart Arnel glasses which I wear as my daily RX. It’s a bit nerdy but one detail I admire on vintage spectacles is that they often have a very soft bevel around the edges of the frame. These days most glasses have a sharper angle around the edge. Before I get the Dremel out and ruin a great pair of glasses I wondered if anyone’s actually tried anything similar?1 point

^ yes mate... I bought it for MrsMJF9 years ago... and conveniently use it myself . Sturdy thing that has held up well. I bought her a fancy-ish Porter one more recently but the hardware isn't a patch on the Topo1 point

Hi Dr H, Good to be back. My 20s 201s are also 555, Both my 47s and 55s are from near the end of USA made cone denim and they are both really nice. As good as some early LVC pairs I had of those years. My 1880s still have most of the buttons. I have had to resew them several times. I have worn them a lot over the years. Really faded and a few spot repairs were needed over the years. ha ha. I didn't realize this but the ones with the sewn on buttons, the denim pockets and the mock felled inseams are pretty rare. The 1937s I recently bought (on sale btw) are made in Japan. The buckle on the cinch is the older version and not the correct version. IIRC the correct version for the 37s is the two toned one like the one on the 1933s. Also recently bought the 53 type II trucker (on sale to). Also made in Japan with Japanese denim. The denim is really similar to the denim on my cone 1955s. Fuzzy for lack of a better word. Really nice denim and much different from the denim on my 47s and 33s. I have lost some weight so things like my 1905 209 coveralls are big on me but I still wear'm ha ha. From what I understand those 209 overalls are pretty rare to. I have the ones with the two horse linen patch and the only came pre distressed. I'll try and get a few pictures in the next day or two. Cheers, Allen [img]1 point

Hi Grant, Paul and Dr Heech , I haven't posted here in quite a while. Good to see some familiar names still around. I sold some of my LVC but still have a lot. I sold my 1911 333s a while back. I see LVC has done a 1910 333. I still have my rare 1905 209 coveralls, Paul, I have a pair of 1880 waist overalls. Only mine have sewn on buttons, denim pockets, centered leather patch and I think it is called mock felled inseams. (not finished on the inside). A pair of 1922 ragtop. 1901s. 1920 201s. A pair of 1947s and 1955s USA cone denim. 2 pairs of 1933s both cone denim. New Japanese made 1937s I also have a 1953 type II (also made in Japan). I'll take and post some photos if anyone is interested. Cheers, Allen1 point

Today's adventures took us to the Romney marsh sound mirrors. These big and rather beautiful concrete structures were built in the inter-war years along the south coast. They were designed to act as an early warning system for approaching aircraft but were effectively made redundant by the introduction of Radar. The area is now a nature reserve. You can only get right up close to them on certain days. This wasn't one of those days 😀 Next up, a bit Further along the coast to Dungeness which is a strangely bleak place. There seem to be quite a few artists in residence living in various shacks. Many other dwellings look to be airb&b's Derek Jarman famously lived there.1 point
