I like this^ Forever chasing the first hit for me.. the feeling i had when i thought.. this is it.. this is what i've been looking for, that emotion is forever stuck in your brain, it can grow to become something more than it ever was. I'v always been mildly hooked on SC-47s because of this^ reason, are they the 'best' jeans i've ever owned, no of course not.. but after a 20+ year quest for the denim grail wearing numerous pairs to rags without ever buying a second pair.. i've come to understand that somthing which can trigger an emotional response is more important than a perfect replication of a 1946 detail. When i look back at my overwhelming feelings of want for past denim acquisitions, hoping they would replicate the feeling only for them to be forgotten and replaced by more current acquisitions.. maybe this one will? .. i'm glad i stepped off that train.7 points

You won't imagine how often I found the "one pair"! 😅 Seriously, I have several jeans with a back up6 points

Yep there is this ^ - and to add I’ve come to understand my favorite pairs never start out that way and it all depends on the journey they’ve had which is never something that can be purchased. So, with that, I understand intellectually it’s never a solution to be solved by getting another of the same pair. It will probably turn out differently anyways. Hasnt stopped me from getting off the train yet but it’s something I sort of want to do, but I still see stuff I want to try!4 points

From some of my personal worn out jeans I have a deadstock duplicate to explain the visitors the change from new to heavy used in the Jeansmuseum later, when I really have to retire them4 points

^ My post just earlier on this page includes a slew of repeats It seems pretty common for folks to post repeats in their collections4 points

This is a serious question with an obvious philosophical undertone. If we are deeply impressed by something (it could be anything, from a pair of jeans to a piece of music or a fascinating journey, and so on), we might want to repeat it, to relive the same experience. Or even to experience it endlessly. Of course, this is impossible. Everything changes endlessly, and these changes, both objective and subjective, are beyond our control. As for me, I have never bought duplicate pairs—not because there weren’t jeans I particularly liked, but rather because I tend to seek variety and try new things in the quest for the denim grail... 🙃3 points

66 black, size 31. I had no idea how versatile these would be. I slept on the black warp/white weft combo for way too long. Also, the cut of these is *chefs kiss*.3 points

Finally picked up a pair of all black engineer boots after years of looking around, went with the Attractions lot 444. Got these from Japan, they still had size 12 in their most recent restock so figured I'd give them a try. Initial impressions are really good, they are so much easier for me to get on and off compared to my Lofgrens. The leather is pretty thick, will try to wear these daily now that the weather has cooled off.2 points

OK folks... there's still a good shot at getting our jeans in December... action is however needed please so we're primed and ready to go go go... Can all 26 contestants email Simone on [email protected] with the following information asap and no later than Sunday 1st December please Superfuture name Real name Address Telephone number Email address (yes, I know it's a duplication) Do you want your package insured? Any 'special' shipping requests he may be able to accommodate, like shipping value Simone will then match your Sufu ID, your jeans and you; plus provide a shipping cost, and a therefore final payment due. Once we get the final bill, we'll all need to pay immediately (via PayPal) to avoid shipping delays. Thankfully a shorter message than my last essay!!2 points

Wore the new Boncouras for a week, decided to give them a wash just to see if there was any additional shrink left. They felt pretty starchy and there wasn't much puckering / roping, so expected to see a bit of shrink with our older washing machine. Pre-wash measurements (o/w) after a week of wear: Waist: 38 in. Front rise: 12.5 in. Back rise: 18 in. Thigh: 14 in. Knee: 10.5 in. Hem: 9.75 in. Inseam: 32 in. And post warm wash, only shrunk back up in the waist and some additional inseam shrink which I was looking for: Waist: 36.5 Front rise: 12.5 in. Back rise: 18 in. Thigh: 14 in. Knee: 10.5 in. Hem: 9.75 in. Inseam: 31 in.2 points

I have wanted to start this thread or hoping somebody would have started this thread. I believe the official name of the company is Freewheelers now, but they used to be called Bootleggers Reunion. I am not positive on their history, but I believe they once worked for The Real McCoy, but when shit went sour there, they broke off and started Bootleggers, which I believe went under as well, but was revived by the same folks as Freewheelers. Not positive why. They don't produce your run of the mill jeans, although, I believe they did under the Bootlegger's name. They are more into some of the other period pieces from the turn of the century up until the early 40s. I am really taken by their wabash/railroader clothes. Quality is truly second to none and their attention to details is what makes their repro clothes more believable than many other companies trying to do the same thing. Here are a couple stockists: Porky's english rakuten site: http://search.borderless.rakuten.com/borderless/search.action?sid=porkys&l=en Bananafish english rakuten site: http://search.borderless.rakuten.com/borderless/search.action?sid=banana-f&l=en Also Speedway Shop run by john Lofgren carries these as well. He will do special orders if the item is still stocked. Shoot him an email for inquiries. His ebay shop is: http://stores.ebay.com/Speedway-shop?_rdc=1 Here is the polka dot conductor shirt I picked up: Some shots of the portions that are fading: right elbow area The cuffs: I hate when people do this, but I am gonna go ahead and do it. This picture doesn't quite show the fading going on, but the bend of the arm is actually getting a honeycomb affect. A nice little detail I have never seen before on a shirt. A little bit closer you can see there are two selvedge ends sewn together to make the two piece sleeve.1 point

I'd say run with it.. i've enjoyed the entire journey, i've enjoyed gaining knowledge even though i've forgotten most of what i knew, i'v enjoyed wearing and obsessing over most of the jeans i've owned.. i wouldn't change any of it, just be aware that ther is never an end to this, there is no grail, we're just trying to fill an empty space inside.1 point

Wanted to add he sold these fake sp28 to an unsuspecting buyer. Was called out on it in discord and he kept saying he was going to make things right. Consensus was he didn’t do a thing. https://grailed.app.link/8k4iYR5rVOb1 point

Evergreen. Massive flaker. Ghosts for weeks, then when he finally agrees to a price, his 'friend' conveniently has a trade that works for him. FOH.1 point

I have a few repeats but in variation - ie same model different fabric, same model different size for a different silhouette. Reality is a little bit of change is enjoyable and 3-4ish years in a single pair is enough for life - at this point for me. Which tends to be about what I get with the rotations I keep. It’s not like the next pair will be really that different from the previous. Lots of subtle differences yes, but that’s fun. For me, buying two of the same thing has come to feel perilously close to hoarding that brings me little to no day to day use. That on top of the varied pairs stashed away that are probably enough for a decade plus - if I can keep in shape - which is why I’ve been selling off a few things. I may eventually buy a second pair of freewheeler 51s, but I’ve got a lot to get through before I ponder that seriously.1 point

Do people not ever own multiple of the same pair or does no one list it? Just wondering as every post I see never has repeats.1 point

@CSL yeah, I’m a bit disappointed as they were still $500+ and are now hand lasted. Hoping they just send me a new pair but certainly is off putting from buying more.1 point

We had quite a few people trying to return their jeans when i was at SOAS because of leg twist. Mostly online orders. It's quite difficult to explain it to a novice without sounding like you're stringing them a line.1 point

I really don't blame people for not liking it. Some years ago, I didn't. You've got to have a certain predisposition for things that run slightly afoul of a perfect order and consistency that so many modern products strive for - and have space for that to not be a problem. Not the best analogy, but if someone told me the charm of a particular camera was that it light leaked on the last few frames of every roll (I have an old Rolleiflex that does this) and use it at as a sales point, I'd figure them trying to pass one over on me. Unless, of course, something had brought me to my own attitude adjustment over time where I could embrace such a thing - like I do with my camera now, but did not when I used it on magazine work - as part of the fun and unpredictability that you don't get with perfectly clinical, precise, reliable modern digital imaging. Fwiw, I certainly did notice it on my first jeans that had it - I'd look down and see the seam over my shoe and feel that everything was draping off kilter. It drove me nuts for awhile. Now I like it but that took time. TLDR I think understanding it and appreciating/embracing it are two different things.1 point

You didn’t say that Paul but I know the jeans were made in Turkey and there are plenty of Internet references of Levi’s and Orta being partners so I put 2+2 together and said I think the fabric is from Orta and not Cone. Of course, my maths could be wrong and the denim could be from elsewhere but from a logistics perspective it would make sense.1 point

After promising to not buy another pair before the WoM contest starts, my willpower broke. Stopped by SE Austin and grabbed a pair of the exclusive wide 34 cut. These feel like a proper pair of straight legged jeans compared to the XX's. My old XX's feel like a slim-straight cut, and the rise is just a bit too low for my tastes these days. So this 34 cut is much more my speed. The Boncoura denim is still great and has one of my favorite selvedge IDs. Also the 34 cut is a few inches longer, so I can wear these uncuffed or with a small double cuff. Might give them another wash to see if there's any residual shrink. It's kinda crazy to think that I bought the XX's 7 years ago.1 point
