was a busy day yesterday, day started out with a presentation to a client and things were pretty hectic with printing and mounting and meeting timelines and deadlines. no pictures of that because it was too crazy for pictures. crazy stuff ended around 6pm and then i proceeded to go on to meet some friends to go to a concert.

since the presentation ended late, had to grab a taxi to the esplanade, which was a concert hall located in the central part of singapore.

taking a moment to kickback and just enjoy watching the passing scenery and to watch the hectic city life just go past.

midway, got caught in heavy traffic, which usually happens when the city crowd starts to make their way back home for a meal with their family.

went to wach broken social scene play for the second time in singapore. it wasn't that fantastic because of the bad soundsystem, but i enjoyed the company nonetheless. good times hanging out with friends.

didnt manage to get good pictures because i was using a fixed aperture compact, but i managed to shoot some videos, which wasnt that bad. sharing with you guys one of the songs they did yesterday.

got hungry because we didnt have time for dinner and then went on to go to someplace near to grab supper/late dinner instead. i had fried fish soup with noodles which was real good. loved the combination and how it was light enough for something to eat at that time. got tired and headed home after that. not a bad day, not bad at all.

The BSS shows I have seen are when they play smaller local venues. The type that hold 500-600 people. The absolute best is when they do them here in Toronto, their hometown, and all their satellite bands are in town. You can get up to 20 on the stage and they play and play and play. They did one at Lee's Palace in Toronto (my favorite venue) where they brought out the likes of all the BSS crew and friends but also Bloc Party, K-Os and Tom friggin Cochrane a Canadian legend. Enjoy the show!

that must be quite an experience to watch them live in their hometown. not sure if i'll ever get to catch them again, but if they do come again i'll definitely be going even though it might not be the full lineup again. watching them do their thing is nothing short of amazing. they are one of those bands who really give back to their fans, having played their 135min set which overran, right here in singapore.

From yesterday....

Was woken up by the pups barking and discovered we had a cute visitor!

3ced5668.jpg

After feeding and walking the pups, my jeans got to go back to sleep while I got in an early AM training ride. 120km & hot & humid as f*ck. Cycled thru about 20 minutes of a torrential downpour, which did nothing to relieve the humidity.

When I got home, I grabbed a quick shower and then decided I was tired of having too much hair that over-heated my noggin! So I joined the sufu cropped heads club :D

After 15 minutes in front of the mirror with the clippers :

I've been here for over 10 years, but have never done any of the "touristy" stuff, so I took my little girl to the CN tower (553 m or 1824.9 ft high).

In hindsight, we should have waited for a clearer, less hazy day, but it was fun nonetheless!

Looking up

Going through security. As at the airport, this checks for explosives, but seems my CR folder passed the check ha!

Then it was 30 stories back down to the main observation deck, where you can go outside. I guess jumpers can no longer get their jollies here

Part of the main deck has a glass floor - looooong way down!

The details. No longer the tallest free-standing structure, now that the Burj Dubai tower (555m) is complete. A buddy was project managing that build!

Then we hit up the golf club for dinner that night... Mmmmm! Nachos, steak, ribs....

Lots of graffiti spotted through the gutted out cross sections. Might be something good. I don't remember anyone really superb from here except Mope. His best stuff disappeared when this idiot city gentrified the "greenway" and destroyed our best public gallery along the tracks.

 These are such a pain in the ass. Thankfully the windows themselves are still nice and fresh, so it is just a trim job. I really like the billing involved with building replicas of old windows, but the people usually do not!

A surviving chunk of backband, good enough for a template.

Rough sizing.

Router bits for these old profiles are tough to find, and were so common bitd. Very shallow profiles. When I started picking this type of stuff up, I thought I was going to need some bits fabricated. But I did find a manufacturer of a really oddball set of miniature door panel bits...they're perfect.

Couple final cuts, and the detail is ready to sand, prime, and install. Not today though!

Also rebladed a saw. I thought pullsaw crew might like this one. I might need to dig out my plunge cutter tomorrow. If so, I'll take a picture. It's a pretty cool little saw.
