So true about the food. Last time we stayed on the Aventino and right next to the hotel was a restaurant that obviously is a regular haunt for Francesco Totti. The guy may be a blown-up jerk but he sure knows about good food.

Yesss!!! I just booked my moving-home-from-Uganda flight (July) via Turkish Airlines... with a 5-day layover in Istanbul! I'm super stoked.

^ istanbul was nice, reminds me of some parts in Jakarta. pretty crowded for sure. People are mostly nice and welcoming. Really enjoyed the different atmosphere there from western part of Europe.

thursday was the last day we had a good covering of snow.

School is out - yeah!

The park was full of happy kids.

But London has a shortage of sleds. Or rather, it did have a shortage of sleds. Now it has a shortage of signs.

Estate agents (or, to Americans, realtors). What are they good for? Well, their signs sure come in handy. This is now safe in our back yard, ready for the next snowfall

At nine inches or so in the main areas, the snow's too deep for regular boots. Fortunately I got hold of a good pair of Socialist Jackboots, a few muddy Glastonburys ago. Also Belstaff, LVC, SDA.

TOday, Saturday, the snow had mostly gone. On the bright side, trains were runnning. We went off into the West End for a bit of an anniverary lunch at a lovely old seafood place called SHeekey's.

it's a bit posh. Need to polish up the Tricker's before I go in (in the UK, you're judged by your shoes).

A few plates of oysters and fish stew later I was maybe regretting downsizing on this Topshop x Harris Tweed coat. Breathe in!

A quick walk round town later, checked in at one of my new fave shops, the Vintage Showroom. Glad to see they have my friend Grhama Marsh's new Ivy League book - looks beautiful. And this navy jacket looks pretty contemporary, no?

The nipper complained as I examined countless old leather and canvas artefacts... until the dude in the shop complimented him on his Levi's. I was impressed he could spot a vintage pair, obscured by wellies and winter coat. Then the nipper decided he liked the shop. Yeah, another kid signs up to vintage materialism.

An hour or so later of drizzle... back home, via the back alleys of Chinatown.

You made the right move getting that size in the tweed coat IMO. If fits you really well. Also one of the great things about Harris tweed is that, like denim, it stretches!

Any more details on that coat in the shop? It looks like something Cabourn would do. Very nice.
