Walked my pup this morning, and saw some noteworthy stuff. Hope your Sunday is treating ya well.

Meg Whitman (former CEO of eBay during its heyday) is running for governor of California -- as a Republican. It's curious to see such a pronounced campaign for her in a very Democratic, liberal area.

The owner of The Grand Lake Theater in Oakland makes no secret of his disdain for The Bush Administration and the messes thus created. Every 2 weeks, you can expect a new opinion posted boldly on the theater marquee !

I love The Bay Area but the sad fact remains -- it's too car-dependent. Boston's and NYC's public transportation system puts us to shame. Don't even get me talking about European cities ! In my opinion, it's a problem which The Bay Area needs to seriously pay attention to and fix.

And finally, here's me with my large creature, "Lacy" on our morning walk.

What I'm wearing :

Ladies L Oakland-Tee from www.pure510.com

Iron Heart Super Tan Belt from SESF (W32)

Iron Heart 301S from SESF (W28)

Sperry Topsider (6N)

last night, a few friends that i haven't met in a very long time decided to meet up to go for a dinner. while i was home waiting, i got bored and decided to snap some pictures.

traintracks. choo choo, thats how the trains are running down the outseam.

1.jpg

some of the threads are starting to unstitch everywhere, threatening to let fly some airspace between my legs.

2.jpg

had dinner at this indonesian place called ayam penyet ria. one of my favourite places for indonesian food. i dont know how authentic it is, but there are lots of indonesians who come here. this is called bakso and is traditionally meatballs in soup with vermicelli. the meatballs are so damn bouncy they spring back up when you bite into them.

3.jpg

this one is called ayam penyet, which translates to "smashing chicken". but basically what this is, is fried chicken. it comes with some other sides with this bean thingy that is an acquired taste but i like it enough. the highlight of this has got to be eating this with the rice and chilli. damn good.

4.jpg

after that, i decided to go meet some friends and do something crazy that we haven't done in a long ass time. we went to work on our soldiering skills as we played COD: Modern Warfare II throughout the night.

5.jpg

i dont know how long we played but this was what it looked like when we were done. so you can say we kinda lost track of time. the streets in the picture are usually crazy packed because it is our main shopping district everybody goes to and being so empty you can tell how early we were. oh and today is a public holiday. its national day and its somewhat like the 4th of july for the good people of the US. there'll be a big parade and all in our small country with fireworks and the shit but im not too stoked to walk through crowded places today.

@ ranon, feeling hungry now after looking at the vietnam meatball vermicelli. Of cos, nice to be looking at Orchard rd again

@TF, you are so grunge today

Love your Ramones Tee.

Ranon - yum!

And ThinFinn - I smiled when I saw your full set of pics! We ran into a snail on our morning walk too...

This guy has big dreams....

Saw pretty flowers...

But it was hot, sticky and humid as f*ck. The trail felt right out of the Amazon, with mosquitos to match:

694472f1.jpg

So I was sweaty and grumpy by the time we got home.

My mood changed real quick when I found a "care package" dropped of by a friend: two boxes of Cohibas (cheers Doc!) and

f6727b94.jpg

So it was off to the back yard for me!

f4e1da00.jpg

Happiness was complete when I discovered about an ounce of 18-year old Glen Morangie in my flask (left over from the last golf round).

What the heck, I knew it was 5PM somewhere in the world!

Thus fortified, I was able to brave my little girl's singing & piano lessons.

The dimly lit singing teacher's waiting room:

The viciously guarded piano teacher's waiting room:

The evening is shaping up like it was last night:

I was in Shanghai for 24 hours..

time was short, so I had to make it worth it.. so not too much pictures on this trip..

First off, to make it denim related..

Real McCoy T Shirt

ALD Woven Belt

Sugar Cane Star Jeans

Vans

web.jpg?ver=12814081530001

Stayed in Crowne Plaza Pudong, view from my room

web.jpg?ver=12814081480001

first order of business.. went to a steamed bun place... pure crab meat inside.. it was pure blessing.. along with 5 RMB beers..

web.jpg?ver=12814080740001

web.jpg?ver=12814080820001

Walked across the street for some of the best pan fried buns in Shanghai

web.jpg?ver=12814081050001

web.jpg?ver=12814081140001

web.jpg?ver=12814081160001

Went to another restaurant to get the fish I've been craving for as well...

also got a bigger steam bun that has pure crab soup in it... the fish is special because the cook took out all the bones in it and basically the whole body is edible without worrying about bones

web.jpg?ver=12814081250001

web.jpg?ver=12814081340001

Next morning, grabbed some breakfast, excuse the fog on the lens of the camera..

web.jpg?ver=12814081560001

and then did some shopping, got some more massage.. and got back to Toronto..

Had to do a little trimming today at work, and my 501s got a little bit grassy with the outcome.

E3EZL.jpg

also if you look close you can see a bit of my at home crotch repair, my first time but my moms old sewing machine pulled it off pretty well. I might grab some pics another time of it.

Was thinking about going Edward Scissorhands on these, but any animal I'd try to make would end up looking even more penicular then they look now.
