Denime

Recommended Posts

While scrolling through those, I found a pair of unwashed/unworn Orizzonti XX's. https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/japan/en/special/order/confirm/https%3A%2F%2Fjp.mercari.com%2Fitem%2Fm18933914565/13_1/

I think these would be a size too small on me since the waist is the appropriate size in its unwashed state.

Since they are listed as sold now, who bought them? :D

Edit: oh and to add, those are not the standard XX, they are the XX Type2. From what I know the cut is a bit slimmer and the denim could be different. They are "easy" to spot as the back belt loop is not slanted but offset and the leather patch looks different. And of course the seller wrote Type2 ;)

I broke down and ordered those. Interesting @beautiful_FrEaK, I noticed the Type 2 designation as well, was going to look into that but thankfully we have you bF 🤣

THis auction has a better description of the Type2:

Denime-nerding part One.

Comparison of the coin pockets of Denime XX pairs.

I.: Orizzonti era, probably early 90s. W34

II.: Shins era, hard to date so 2005-09. W34

III.: Original Line (Wego), 2019/20. W36

IV.: Made by Warehouse, 2023. W34

Orizzonti

Shins

Original Line

Made by Warehouse

Orizzonti and Original Line have the same width and the construction seen from the inside is similar. The Orizzonti is smaller in total though.

The Shins pair is slightly wider and the construction seems a bit more refined and thinner sewn.

The Warehouse made is the widest but also the shortest. The construction is totally different without the typical triangles 🔺️. Also the position of the coin pocket is the highest between the four pairs.

The Type2 has a slimmer top block. The XX is known for hip flare, the XX Type2 is slimmer up there.

This bodes well for how these will fit me. I have fairly high-set hips, so hip flare on anything that isn't super high-rise happens in a weird place on me :laugh:

@obama an excellent fit, indeed.

I have the 220 and 221, both size 31. The 221 has a slightly lower rise, but otherwise not too different in the top block. The thighs are a bit narrower, and there is a notable taper from about the knee down. I think they would fit you similarly well in the same size as the 220a.

@obama he already told you ;)

Thanks @blooming  I found a pair of 221 in W32 L32 last night and pulled the trigger :)

My 220 was in w32 L30. It fits great length wise with one fold but I haven’t washed it yet.  Trust it will be okay without fold after shrinkage?

I hope the L32 in 221 will not be too long after shrinkage with one fold.

I am cheap. I always think the hemming is costly compared to the cost of the whole jeans 🤷‍♂️

@beautiful_FrEaK

Hello, regarding the difference in color between the front and rear panel on my lot 221 I got this response from WH:
"These jeans use rope-dyed denim using indigo dye. Therefore, the color may be slightly different depending on the lot of fabric."
I wonder if this was the case in Hayashi's time.

@obama Hello, What size did you wear in Fullcount 1101 (new coupe) and Resolute 710?

Haven't noticed it yet.
I mean the explanation is rather strange since most denim we talk here is rope dyed and I haven't noticed it so strong on other brands. Yes the denim changes from lot to lot like every product. I would then just assume that the production runs were rather big and they cut the front panels from different denim rolls than the back panels. Other brands might cut all pieces from the same roll and thus the difference is not as striking.

Mine measure about 33.75 in the inseam after shrinking. I can get away with a big single or a moderately sized double cuff.
