Just signed up for the Middleweight category. Just bought a pair of Samurai S0500XX, so if they fit, that'll be my pair. If not, I'm going to enter with my Fullcount 1101's that just hit there 30th wear yesterday. Can't wait!

So it seems like I'm changing my jeans for my contest ride along, the Sauce Zhan jeans unfortunately have to be used as samples to mail out to retailers so it's going to be either my Samurai S5000VX 25oz, or a pair of Samurai S0500XX that I'm currently eyeing up.

Nice Kris. How do you find skating in heavyweights? Back in my skateboarding days it was baggy as Fuck lightweight jeans.

Makes me want to get my skate out, only to realize I've lost the low amount of skill I had.

When i was breaking in my 25oz's That sucked. I have scars from the intense chaffing around the whisker area. Nothing had challenged me like the 25oz's and this 21oz is like a walk in the park, and over time it's really nice to skate in heavy raws. The heavy denim is like armor so i feel more comfortable to fall in them.

I skate regularly in heavy denim and over time i began to feel naked without it. Although i am interested to see how skating feels in my contest pair (Approx 15-16oz).

Today I want to tell you the story behind our pocket fabric.
Here in Dresden we have the largest collection of original japanese Katagami in the world.

The collection was forgotten in a depot of the Kunstgewerbe Museum Dresden for 125 years.

By accident 92 boxes with 16000 Katagami were found behind closets.

In the exibition "Logic Rain" by the Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden, were shown 140 of them for the first time.

They are showing the variety of the theme rain.
A Katagami is the traditional color template for samurai kimonos.

They were cutted out of Mulberry paper, that was glued in several layers and dried over years.

 

 

Mr. Ruttloff visited the exibition and was fascinated by the beauty and richness of detail.
With the love to the japanese denim culture and the japanese fabric we use for our artisan challenge project, the idea for Katagami printed pocket bags was born.

Mr. Ruttloff asked the museum and got the permission.

 

Marco owner of https://www.nikkifaktur.de/ and workshop neighbor of Mr. Ruttloff, was so nice to do the prints.

 

 

 

We did two different prints, one in white, one in white/black.

The fabric is a 9 oz indigo overdyed selvage denim, that will fade beautiful over the time.

With the fading process, the black prints will show up.
