What an update Jared - the jeans are looking immense. What do you keep in your back right pocket that's torn through the denim?

SM, I carry a Kawatako wallet and I tuck my keys from a fob on the belt loop into the pocket. The bottle opener on the ring tore through.

 

guthrie, I can say nothing but good things about the tattoos coming out of that shop. If you wanted a shorter trip, Great Lakes Tattoo in Chicago is superb.

Jared, I got tattooed by Frank William while he was still at Great Lakes back in August about a week or two before he moved to Rose in Brooklyn. Would love to get tattooed by Bert Krak asap though.

The TCB blog post reminded me I haven't posted any fit pictures since the beginning of this contest. I remember I was still unsure about the fit, the cuff, the wrinkles after the wash, everything when I took those initial fit pics. I wasn't sure if I'd end up participating. I don't usually take and share photos as a regular thing, but here we are.

 

That was the last month I lived in that apartment after being there for five years. I lost that bandana (Mister Freedom x Self Edge ltd.) riding the last few things over from that place to the new (now old) place. I've since moved again to the place you see in these pictures.

howdy signore e signori,

washed the stovepipes this week, bad timing as it's been pissing most of the time, don't have a dryer (who needs it in Italy? haha..) so it took forever on the radiators which were already full of baby clothes...daddy's denim is never a family priority...

anyway here they are, the more I wear the more I love these jeans

 

 

been trying a smaller double cuff and a longer inseam and love how they drape over the Lennon shoes

on a side note I have been working like a crazy bastard for the last two weeks for my festival director job, had to fill up a final relation and balance sheet for the national culture council in Rome which gave a grant to us. my co worker and festival accountant had the good idea of breaking her shoulder right on time for the final two weeks before the deadline, leaving me alone in the good company of the worse bureaucreacy in the world. thank God yesterday I've finished the work and today I only had to send paper copies via signed for shipping...

So this afternoon I finally had time to open this big parcel - coming all the way from Germany and sent by some fella named Foxy - that has been languishing in my office for some time

 

 

here's what was found inside

 

 

25 different tonic waters, holy shit!

 

so i had to have a wee celebrative drink tonight, here's to you Foxy!

Yum!

 

First off, a health warning. Took my denim pix in a hurry and the colour is way off.

 

Second, a health warning. This is haggis. On the left the nipper is about to drink Irn Bru, a Scottish drink that is quite possily banned elsewhere in Europe, as it's bright orange and contains carcinogenic dye made from coal tar IIRC. Yummy! The whisky of course is healthy. I'm about to read RObbie Burns' ode to a haggis.

 

Some recent wanderings around the city. The Church is St George In The East, long thought to have occult significant as it stands on a leyline, near the site of some famous murders. Just by is Cable Street, where a bunch of trade unionists, socialist, Jewish students and others stopped the fascists marching through East London - the police tried to ensure the march went ahead, hence the copper getting a hiding. The mural celebrates the event - although even to this day it's vandalised by right wing extremists.

 

Now, the denim. Just washed them again and they look great. THe colour here is way off - they're far greyer and less vivid in real life. I'll try and iupdate with something that gives a better idea of the colour soon.

Haggis and Irn Bru - Both most excellent if you've never heard/tried those before. I didn't know the reason behind Irn Bru's ban, so thanks for that Paul. Photo with Damien Hirst writing on it is class.

yeah true each of our pairs has its own character. I overwashed the first few months due to baby puke (!) and after that I tried to hold off washes a bit to still have some nice contrast. the jeans now have a lot of contrast, almost too much for my taste so i'll probably try to wash every week til the end of the contest and see if I can manage to get the overall hue a touch lighter, love the royal blue colour that yours and Paul's pair have. Mine seems to be a little bit more grey-ish still. Paul T I love that big chunk of loom chatter that your pair has on the right leg!

It's funny how I end up making the same mistake pair after pair.. I always say to myself "this time I'll wash often and get a little less contrast then usual". Then in the first months when I see a hint of dad fades I'm drawn away from the wash often discipline. I did exactly the same to my 60's which at some stage were super contrast-y. They now are almost white everywhere but the trick would be to manage to get to the end of the contest with the prettiest pair I can create!

I am too curious to see Ah Long's pair, as I remember it to be a very serious candidate for the 1st prize... I would also like to see Simon's pair as his Ooe contest pair was superb and he seems to be real good at taking jeans photos. Where are you Simon?
