Current 1944s are inseam L34 only I think as well? The finish on the laurel leaf button looks wrong, and the diagonal orange stitch next to it. Probably missing a few other things...

I'm no LVC expert, but I think some genuine older MIUSA LVC 1944 have the R on the red tab incorrectly too? 😄

@Lorcanyes, all LVCs with a red tab featured the R up to certain year, if I remember correctly it was around ten years ago, when they had started doing it right. and yes something is wrong with button, butt its more about the construction method of how the rivet/thorn-back part is attached to the top part, early LVC had two kind of stingers that had been plugged through the metal and had been bent holding the top, current versions hide the fixation.

They look painted / printed to me.. just compare the uniform spacing of the arc stitch to the uneven spacing of the pocket stitch.

Thanks, you‘re right after a closer look 😉

Heres my 1953 LVC type II at about 8 months. still raw. Size XL. Marked 44 on the label. The Japanese denim is very similar to the fuzzy denim like my 1955 501 cone. The color and texture are very close to the 50s LVC Cone denim. I think Levis still has XXL (48) also.

Nice shirt, haven’t seen one of those in a while. If I remember correctly, they come up quite big and don’t shrink much.

Cultizm says 1-2 sizes

I didn’t realise it was a reissue, I was thinking of those from about 15 years ago, although I never had personal experience. Almost bought one though!

I had the raw issue some 14 or 15 years ago and l definitely remember it not shrinking. Actually l may be wrong and it may just be my memory that's shrinking. A shrink to fit memory maybe.

I  always thought that the neck label looked a bit goofy.

Is there any info or does anyone know why LVC make the 66 a much brighter blue that previous 501s? I read a really interesting article (probably linked from here) about magnadraft during the 60s and 70s that creates by accident a more slubby fabric. But for the dye i can't seem to see much info. Looking at Acorn and their big e collection a lot of the jeans look identical (to my untrained eye) to the indigo of the 50s and 40s. I've screenshot a few photos. Also a photo of very blue LVC 66s.

Are LVC just trying to differentiate models for selling purposes or is this actually what the jeans were like?

I got some 1955s off Ebay made in US. Is this a Taylor Togs pair? I think 2013? Buttons are blank.

I've snapped a few photos compared to my LVC 66s and TCB 50s. They are quite different measurement wise to TCBs. Longer front rise and more of a taper.

These are more faded than they looked on ebay but thinking can still get my own fades on these despite the heavy wear/washes.

2nd last photo is compared to TCB

The monthly wash, fresh out of the machine and waiting for the sun to appear!

I forgot to change the previous program on the washing machine (washed cotton bedding the other day) so they were stuck in the machine for 3 hours.. duh

Since denimbro seems to be a ghost-town, I thought I might post here about my recently purchased 1890s. Theyre the MIJ/Kaihara, size 36x32.

When I got them in early-mid July, they were monstrously sized on me. I decided to do a soak in a tub of hot water while wearing them, and i got an inch of shrinkage in the inseam, and very little elsewhere on them. I did a nice west coast multi state trip and wore them every single day, and today I wondered if there was a way to get the last of the shrinkage out. machine washed hot, laid out to dry in 92 degree Fahrenheit weather, and just put them back on. I am absolutely shocked at how much more shrinkage was left in them. Prior to the hot tub soak. the waist measured 38", and post wash they were 34.5", but through wearing them just this afternoon, I am at 36". the inseam had only lost 1" during the hot soak, but after the hot wash, they are down to 29.5". For me, I am very shocked that I lost an inch in both the back and front rise. This size 36 now has a 12" front rise, which is fine, but i really liked the near 14" rise before soak.

Otherwise, post hot wash, the texture of the denim has improved and seemingly come alive from the 'flat' dry/rigid state. With the still higher rises, the jean now fits like a pair of trousers. Anyone else have a pair of newer MIJ 1890 that had a similar experience?

I have a question for all those out there. Has anyone bought the latest 1922 501s? I was wondering about sizing. I read that they run very large. Anyone have any experience with the Japanese made Japanese denim model that is being offered now? And is the denim the same as the denim on the Japanese denim 1937s? Thanks in advance.

Nobody????

I didnt even know the 1922 was in the current lineup until I just now typed 1922 into the search bar on levis.com. if you try to look for them in the main LVC link, they are not part of the collection (just like my 1890!)

Unfortunately the only experience I have with the new MIJ/Kaihara models is my 1890s. Do the 1922 have the same fabric? IIRC, historically they made the switch to 10oz denim by then, right?

For my 1890, they ran oversized, but shrank a lot. my particular pair has a good amount of nep to them as well.
