  2. Proper British springtime photo - grey skies, washing out on the line defying the weather, bonus dog's back end as well, unsure why I'm screwing my face up so much but there we have it. Toy's Mccoy // Denime 2nd fit: same + Cushman sweat, Altra trail runners & Yeti cap In truth it’s been a difficult day, first day of both my girls in childcare, it’s not something we ever wanted to do and the drop off was emotional. Maybe that’s why I was also screwing my face up in the first photo. Anyway, some suitably dad fits. PS the 220a’s are MEGA crispy, I did not expect that!

  3. Something completely out of left field. Swung by the new Self Edge Austin location last weekend for their opening day and picked up a pair of Rick Owens sneakers. If you would've asked me 5 years ago if I would wear Rick Owens I probably would've laughed at you.

  4. I just received some Lot 147’s and I’m pretty hyped. Does anyone have pre and post soak measurements? These would be my first wide pair of pants and still trying to figure out how to get the best shrink and fit in them. Thanks!

  6. @Alec Leamas I still have a hard time dropping off my son but more than a year in I am sure it has been the best thing for him. His socialization skills have wildly improved, his imagination has grown in ways it wouldn't have at home, and most of all, he's been able to learn from more people that are not his two parents and while we do our best and contain multitudes, we cannot show him everything. It gets easier, but it never gets easy. Everyone is different, but in general I think it's quite good for the kids and harder for the parents.

  10. I think this design is a lot more understated and not flashy at all. I used to exclusively think of Rick Owens from the goth-ninja perspective. Guys like this.

  12. Based on this I don’t see SE Austin being a good thing for you in any way haha.

  15. The rep system… Most people, if using the rep system, give a standard, green, positive rep symbol to a post they like. If they really like a post they’ll give it the yellow super-rep one and if they don’t like a post (I assume they must really dislike something as it’s not used often) they give it the red, negative rep. I understand all of this, it’s completely logical. What I don’t understand (and I’m not criticizing it), is why (and therefore when) do people use the blue rep icon? I assume it’s because they like a post, but not quite enough to give it a positive rep. Is it a neutral acknowledgment of a post that’s interesting or informative in some way? Please, blue rep users, explain your justification to me and satisfy my curiosity! 😁 I wonder if anyone will give me a blue rep as a response…

  18. that's very nice of you. I'm still lurking about once a day. My life is a mess at the moment with way too much work and stress. I'm so fat that none of my old tcb jeans fit and the idea of surrender and realize I need a 38 makes me sad. I'm going to leave my job at the end of the year, move on something else more simple and get my life back. I thought I could resist with this job until I was 50, make some more good money and call it a day then. But I'm 43 now and I've been dead close to burnout for the last couple years. I may as well decide to join for the fun, as long as I like the cut. I have no time at the moment to work out details with Hajime and Ryo. Let's hope they cook up something that most will like, a Levi's based 5P model with a regular to loose fit. A copy of a specific Levi's pair they haven't covered yet from either 40s or 50s would be probably the most attractive project to stir interest in the contest. A 60's pair with a more friendly cut would be nice too. I loved it back in 2012 or whenever it was, but now I know more what I like, and that cut leaves much to be desired in terms of comfort and proportions (low rise, tight hip, tight thigh).

  19. I realise this is 3 years late but yes, I've got the lot 203's - I like em, pretty solid rendition of a WWII model jean, in their distinctive style. OD green herringbone twill pocket bags, no frills 5 pocket style, no rivets on the coin pocket, donut fly buttons - I like how "plain" these are. Mine are still very unworn as I went off them a while back and also had a bad do with hemming, now sorted and that has refreshed my interest, so getting some wear. Picked these up from The Vintage Showroom a few years ago when I was on a frenzied search for anything TWC, got these and a lovely chambray work shirt. This was after the brick and mortar store closing but they were still very obliging and kind over email, photographing all the pieces they had and posting some out to me.

  21. I really like the one back pocket and overall design details, but am a little disappointed by the stated measurements... a 20cm leg opening in my size sounds ridiculously small (though i know it'll be a little bigger after a hem), and i would have also preferred an extra 2-3cm in the rise. i have several pairs of jeans that all have 28-30cm front rises and don't find that height comfortable or flattering, for me at least. But I am very curious about the denim and would probably still consider a pair if this is indeed the proposed pair TCB wants to use for the contest. Does anyone have any confirmation on whether that's their intention? edit: i'll add that the most recent viktor's voice collab (good luck jeans) are much more up my alley. i would love to do a contest with those, lol!

  25. For me, I like the waist of my jeans to be around 33.5-34" right out the wash and stretch to around 36" to be comfortable and loose. I take a 34 in the 66's and 36 in the 47's (I find the waist to run smaller on these hence sizing up the tagged size.)

  26. Second pair are also Chippewa's. Western work boots in size 10 D. Very thick Vibram soles, made in USA, very rugged build. Very little wear, tons of life left in soles, and the uppers are practically perfect. Really love these boots but they are just too loose. Again, all reasonable offers considered.

  27. Will be throwing these boots on the auction sites in a few days but I thought I'd offer them up here first. First pair are Chippewa Engineer boots (short) in size 10 E. Steel toe, Vibram sole, made in USA. Practically brand new, only worn a few times. Just a bit too roomy. All reasonable offers considered. Will consider trade for similar boots in 9.5 D

  33. No guarantees that the complete pattern will be very similar but this is the Cats Drive (size 31 on 6’3” 170 lb body) on me, which the size chart suggests should be rather similar in dimensions as the No 2 in case this is helpful at all for gauging potential fit

  35. If Volvo and others are in I think I would be - but the 1880s would be a problem as my main jeans for the last five summers or so are the LVC natural indigo. But I will keep checking. Volvo, sorry life has been tricky. It's been a bit challenging here and my 1800s is gone but we are all still standing This has to be 18 months or 2 years for me - in 1 year I wil swtich to 3 days a week so I reckon I've a good chance of placing with 4/7 of the wear that Volvo or Maynard have

  39. I’ve used the blue rep in the past to acknowledge posts that I appreciate having read, but that carry a negative message (like news of a death or discussion of some other tragedy) which I’d feel weird reacting “positively” to—but every time I’ve done so I’ve felt that I’m probably overthinking it

  43. Tempo Design Store - Mastermade Goods | Est. 2017 Rue du Midi 11 Lausanne, Switzerland TempoDesignStore.com Women & Men: @TempoMastermadeGoods Home: @TempoDesignStore Monocle Magazine: Setting up shop in the Swiss Alps in November was a culmination of the travels of business partners Pablo de Pinho and Ana Deffarges (writes Claudia Jacob). The co-founders of Lausanne’s Tempo concept shop unearthed an affinity for craft culture while travelling around Brazil, Tokyo, California and Montréal, before putting down roots in the Helvetic city. “It’s rare to find lifestyle shops in Switzerland,” says De Pinho. “After getting so much inspiration living and studying across three continents, we knew that Lausanne was missing something.” The result is a selection of tasteful design objects from across the world, featuring items from furniture ateliers such as Bangalore’s Phantom Hands and Copenhagen-based Frama. There are also luxurious leather goods from Tokyo’s Hender Scheme and Taiwan’s Kamaro’an, as well as garments from Galicia’s Lichen Goods. Tempo sits at the foot of the mountains overlooking Lake Geneva and its ethos of slow living is effortless to embrace. tempodesignstore.com -> List of Brands & Designers

I turned in my notice last week and my boss (of almost 6 years) told me to hit the road so now I've got a bunch of time on my hands until my start date. Any hobbies I should pick up in the next month?
