oh wait, shoot, my bad- Salaam is wearing the Ooe's over his Sam's! those things are shreeeedded! i got some vid's of them too that i'll share later. i had a great time (as usual) but short visit up to RVA. got in late last night and we chilled for half the day today. we'll get back to that in a bit. i had to return back to Hampton Roads or the Seven Cities or the 757 (as all the hipsters call it) for work. btw, Hampton Roads is not a road, as in street. It's the body of water where the Chesapeake Bay, the James River and the Elizabeth River meet. go here for more on that-

i like Beat's suggestion about schoolin ya'll on the historical stuff and whatnot, but i'm not so sure i'd make a good ambassador for any region of the world. . . but i'll try when i'm not out in the hood covering a murder. oh and appfaff, the Tides are still the Tides. they just changed major league team affiliations. used to be Mets and now it's the Orioles.

so here's what i did tonight at work. we have a new Governor elect that's swearing into office next weekend. tonight they kicked off a week long of events with a Governors Ball or Gala. or whatever you call a stuffy party with guys in penquin suits. they had it in Norfolk at the Chrysler Museum which is a pretty nice place. i like it even better since they did away with the admission charges a few months ago.

normally, they have little wine and jazz events in the main room and an occasional wedding. tonight was packed. surprised they squeezed that many people in there

this is Derrick. he's a reporter. don't trust him. i've been trying to get him to buy a "good" pair of jeans. he really likes my FC's. but for now it's H&M for him.

most of the time in news it's hurry up and wait. the other media folks standing round waiting for the Gov elect, Bob McDonnell.

he arrives. . .surprisingly on time.

i can shoot vids and take pic's at the same time. and sometimes fart quietly. . .

after the interview is done, your's truly, chats it up with the Gov elect. i tell him about the tour and he's honored that Ooe Yofukuten is in the great Commonwealth of Virginia. i tried to get him to put the jeans on, but he gave me look of pure evil and disgust.

after his armed guards escort me politely out of the room i make my way to ballroom and find my spot on the floor to dump my sticks (tripod for all you non-photo peeps)

this guy is cool. his name is Jack and he's a retired Rear Admiral in the navy. he's also president of a civic league downtown, so occasionally we'll use him for a soundbite if we need his expertise for something. most of the time we show up at his house and he's finishing up a stiff drink. he's always kind enough to offer one too.

one of the cool things about the job is you always (well almost) get a good seat at any event. this little girl blew the roof off with her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. the dude to her right in the red jacket is a Tuskegee Airmen.

the Gov elect daughter came out to say a few nice words about her dad. very southern lookin gal.

dad comes out and has some choice words for the audience. mostly good words tho. talked about how fucked our roads and economy are and how not much will probably change.

afterwards it's PARTY TIME! i'm sure there was lot's of ecstasy bein popped here. whoa- check out my man Jack!

this is how tv gets it done. Ooe's in the foreground, Gov elect and fam in the backround. hell yes.

and. . .it's time for tv to get his electric slide on. boogy oogy woogy!

OK- one more pic for tonight (or is it early morning now?) and i gotta hit the bed. gotta check up from the neck up in the morning. after our shit was done, i get back to the station and my cell phone goes off. it's a text mssg with a pic attached to it from my buddy Andy. apparently, one of the other cameraguys from the other station took a shot of me the Gov elect when i was gettin my pic taken. for some reason and i'm not sure why, (cause we don't like putting our competition on our airwaves) he used me for a shot in his story. my friend saw it, took a cell pic and forwarded to me. strange but, hey, the Ooe's made it on TV!!!!! just another part of an already epic tour. . .

^ don't hold yer breath. work is busy this week. but, i'm goin back up to RVA Wednesday for the first day of the VA General Assembly, the oldest legislative body in the USofA. the Ooe's will land in the historic state Capital on the floor with all the politicians! gonna try to catch up with Lendo and crew if I can too. also, before the wrap-up of my leg of the tour, i have a special trip planned for the Ooes. it's in the works now. . .

so, i'll have more vid's to come. be patient and i'll try to keep this updated as much as i can.

^ah that sux. same here tho. i'd thought i'd show you guys some of the inner workin's of a tv station real quick. food always shows up in the newsroom. usually it's gone in a matter of seconds. i predict these pretzels will already be gone by the time this makes post.

we have a new morning show in the works. this is a new set that they had made recently for the show.

i think it starts airing in about a week or so. so you guys have a first look at the set. wonder what's in the fridge. . .

goin into the midday show. be vewwy, vewwy quiet. .

this dude, Russell, operates all the robotic studio camera's from here.

the set and all the stuff we put out is in HD. all this stuff moves around so they can change it up for show and/or shots

the control room where all the technical stuff is done for the show.

the producer (joined by weather girl) sit at the back. producer decides what stories go in the show and in what order they are arranged. they also communicate with the field crews.

this is called Master Control. it used to be manned by a bunch of people. now it is remotely operated by someone, somewhere else. all the commercial breaks, feeds ect are being run outta here. we also run 4 stations out of this building.

i have no clue how they figure this stuff out.
