A replacement pair for the winner would be nice, but it's not really about winning or competing, is it? I bought my pair because when I saw this thread shortly after joining superfuture (late February) I said "I want to be a part of this"

i haven't seen a denim contest yet that didn't give a free pair to the winner...that's the least they can do, imho. i left my FC with lendo last week to take some pics, just got them back. i guess he'll post pics soon....i'm back to lurking again...great pics folks

Demonito, I take the competition seriously. But I don't participate in it because of a potential prize at the end. Should there be something? Of course! But for me the "competition" is more about enjoying my and other's denim, and the comraderie in this thread, than a reward.

actually, it's kinda funny that after two thousand posts, the questions of how the contest is going to be judged and what the prize is going to be are being raised. i just thought the jeans were a good deal at the time. but i should shut my face...i have another contest pair on the way.:D

the fairest would be i think is to send in the jeans to the people who will judge them pictures are not that accurate and can be altered.

I've never agreed with Edmond more.

This is the true way they should be judged. Send them all back to BiG to be judged in person. Personally I can't ever get a photo of my jeans to look like they do in real life

that would be nice, but thats an additional cost, esp. when factoring in int'l contestants. the judging is in the eye of the beholder, so there will be some griping. i just replied to a gordon e-mail, but i forgot to mention the prize for the contest. i was too busy being selfish, asking for some more of that primo thread. ..

knugget, like returning a pair of jeans to be hemmed and sending along a check or money order to pay for the return shipping, we'd do the same with the contest jeans. I wouldn't expect BiG to pay the shipping to send my jeans back to me.

I agree that the fairest way of judging the contest pairs would be to see them in person but imo for international contestants it would create additional hassle compared to US contestants; expensive shipping costs, chance of having your jeans taxed by customs when they are returned, more chance of loss/theft,...

I'm digging what edmond is saying about the true contestants. I also understand the money aspect as well. It's still hard to deny that judging them in person at BiG is the best way. I'm willing to pay the shipping for a fair judgment.

Also, does anyone else's 'last post' button in supercontrol not work? they haven't been working for a while now. I am down to only checking this thread because it's too much to find where i left off each time in multiple threads. is there a fix?

Yes. I completely agree.

Regarding judging, I agree sending the jean to BIG would be the fairest method. But since this puts additional burden on the international contestants, maybe we can set a standard or rules on how pictures shoud be taken?

think sending the jeans back will filter out the serious players of this contest to those who wants to just join and maybe win...
do we get the jeans back after judging, if so that's a more cost on gordon's part.

just a suggestion: why not make 2 stages for judging.

1st, to round up all the entries :: from there contestants [and/or invited SuFu panel] can do a preliminary selection [best 5 or 7 or whatever as finalists].

2nd stage: finalists can send their jeans entry to BIG for final judging. this way it's less burden for ppl who may not have a prayer anyway.
