Updates:

Blacklist in Grace last night was OK. Still definitely an older 30+ crowd and tons of French hedge fund/finance guys and the women that love them. It's not as good as it used to be; i.e. the women aren't as hot but the music is still great French house/disco and sadly probably the best B.A.L.L.A. party in Tokyo now, which isn't saying much really. I blame it on the recession.

Some friends of mine went to Blacklist and told us it wasn't worth coming to.

Went to Velours instead and all the broads were dressed like it was prom/ginza hostess/beauty pageant night. Plenty of hot girls but the music was terrible.

The problem is the economy man. Blacklist is run by a bunch of French guys, so their bread-n-butter is French finance guys. Last year was straight up gangster but now everyone heading to Singapore and Hong Kong. Velours is wack now too - they now have parties on Fridays too (used to be only Weds for fashionatas and Saturday for regular blokes) cuz they aren't making anymore bank. It used to be THE PLACE in 2005, but not anymore. Check out 57, its pretty good.

I might migrate from Osaka a couple of times a month to DJ at Velours next month to try to bring some fresh life into the place. I was there too on Saturday and I can attest to the Ginza prom action. Music was shabsville as well but the champagne was free.

Still, on a given night I can see it being a good spot. Certainly has the "hard to find" part down.

united arrows, ships, tomorrowland, etc. are the equivalent to Gap, American Eagle, etc., for the states. So they gotta sell shit that doesn't sell at the retail stores somewhere you know? Dbss sells out in size 1 and 2 almost instantly. Tomorrowland is targeted for late-20s early-30s salarymen and women; hence the reason you saw a lot of older women.
