Do they still ever make jeans for direct orders, or just through other brands like Jelado? I always wanted a pair but never got around to ordering (so it goes)

The last time I stopped by Roy Slaper’s shop to pick up an order, he was wearing a pair (I think??), and he said they were some of his favorites he’d worn, which is just about the highest praise as far as I’m concerned

For that matter, are they still doing those T-shirts? Do / did they ever do them without pockets?

Here's his website, it covers a few of his other projects: https://rebuilt.jp/
Need to wash and take some photos of my pair, I enjoy them but they're the slightest bit too tapered at the hem in my opinion.
@julian-wolf I think he's paused on taking orders for the time being, however I haven't spoken with him in awhile now. Should reach out and see how he's doing.
He is still making the YM Factory tees, and I've never seen them without a pocket. But he's made some other variations without a pocket, never tried them out. There's some more info on the website.

I was trying to order a pair via Instagram a while back, he sent me some size charts then stopped responding to my messages so I just gave up.  They look like nice jeans and I'm hoping to get a pair someday.

Yes he is doing a lot of OEM work these days. Last release of his jeans were April 2024. I don't know but hope he will do some work for his brand again

Same thing happened to me. We were at the point of finalizing the order then he stopped responding. He must have taken on too much at that time.

I was fortunate enough to order a pair from Ono-san, and they remain among my favorite jeans. Prior to that, I had been messaging him on Instagram for quite a while without receiving a response. After I received my order, we kept corresponding on Instagram for some time, about books, jazz, color theory.

Lost a ton of weight in Japan and fortunately fit into my pair again, which also coincides with me wanting to wear slimmer cuts lately. I ordered mine around 2020, a '37 cut with a modern taper (like 2000's 501's) so I might be breaking them in again. Glad to finally get around to it!

How did you manage it? A special diet, or…?

All the walking I bet. When I was in Japan, I lost weight while eating a ton. Averaged like 25k steps a day...

Haha yeah this exactly, happens to me every time! Average 20k steps per day, smaller portion sizes, stopped working out (lost muscle mass), overall heat killed the appetite compounded by being there for over a month! Goal is to live there permanently by end of year, so hoping to keep off the weight long term

A buddy took a trip to Tokyo to visit a friend who teaches English there. He said he (and his body) were so impressed by the quality of the food there; even at convenience stores. Here in the states there’s just so much garbage that silently makes it into our food.

Walk a lot, eat little, and only high-quality food. Seems like a win-win option.

Here, in Ukraine in wartime conditions, many people cope with stress by eating more. Maybe they’re storing fat just in case. That applies to me too. One way or another, I keep seeing lots of people who are overweight.
