Red Cloud & Co. jeans

Saw a few questions asked and again sorry for not logging in frequently...

Yes, 423XX used to be an experimental model for Raymon to play around as he knows Red Cloud is still young and needs frequent tweaking. However, after the recent meeting with Raymon, he addressed that most of the cuts are permanent.

I undertand taobao might not provide the best or understandable information, so here is the run down of cuts.

Red Cloud Standard models

R400 - Straight cut (the only 17oz jeans, and fabric weave is the only special one)

R423 - Modified 55' Straight cut, High rise.

R424 - Slim Straight (the only cut with Wukong Arc)

R425 - Slim Tapered

Rusting - Red Banner Sub-line of Red Cloud, basically catering to entry-level.

Fabric is the same except that there are lesser details, like excluding hidden rivets.

RTG-01 Slim Tapered (Basically is R425 cut, just a little slimmer)

RTG-02 Slim Straight (Basically is R424 cut, just a little slimmer also without Wukong Arc)

Limited edition

R424BE - Slim Straight with Wukong Arc. (BE stands for Blue Edition)

I am sorry, the R424BE picture on instagram might showed to much blue... It is actually a Black patch.

Black buttons, Purpleish pocket tag and arc thread.

Full Blue thread stitching including chainstitches.

All jeans are now using Turpan cotton from Xinjiang. 14.5oz unless otherwise stated.

All RHT.

The 'BE' will be arriving in Tuckshop around Feb, the jeans and a 'BE' series Type 2 jacket.

We will also be expecting a R436, 1930s cut with cinch-back.

All in all, pretty neat jacket with great details (Waldes zipper) and good fit at a very attractive price (if you buy in China). Should be able to compete with RMcC & Buzz.

If they would have had a size 40 available and in blue...

These are my after work pants, so don't get a crazy amount of wear, just lounging around the house. But in love with this, if only it was a bit thicker. The 17 oz seems quite light, not sure if that's attributed to a loose weave or what.

Amazing vertical fades coming through already.

Just thought I'd cross post the Red Cloud write up I did for the people over at Reddit. I got a fair amount of information from throughout this thread, so was a big help.

Also organized a world tour with TSS for a pair of R400, so will post some updates with those here.

Unfortunately, I was off with the sizing - the fit more like a Samurai W33...will get a size smaller soon.

Hey guys! Newbie here to denim, looking at the Red Cloud R400 for my first pair of real denims and planning to get my pair online. Got some questions which I hope you guys can help me out with:

  1. How much will these pair shrink after the first wash?
  2. Are the measurements on Tuckshop's site (http://www.tuckshopsundrysupplies.com/store/r400-17oz/) accurate?
  3. With a waist size of 85.5cm and based on Tuckshop's site, would it be safer to get a size 31 or 32?
  4. I'm planning to pair them with Clark's Desert Boots, how will they match up (being straight cut)?

Thanks guys - All answers much appreciated!

I don't remember how much they shrink, but my pair stretch out to pre-soak measurement. Mine's 32, after soak they did shrink to smaller than 32, but after a month of wear has loosen up, and now after 4 months they are 32 again (slightly loose). My advice is you could size down one for a trimmer fit, or go TTS for a more authentic slim-straight fit similar to a 1947 cut.

re. desert boot. I guess it depends on your feet size and the sizing of your jeans. they are modernised vintage cut, but vintage cut nonetheless. the leg openign on mine is big, so if i wear TTS boot (size 8 US) the shoes appear too small, if i size up shoes to a size 9 they look more balanced.
