SO you're going for a second soak, Dr Heech? I personally never bother, will be great to see how all the various approaches work out in a year.

They're loose ATM, as the denim has had a chance to relax after only nine days wear, so I was contemplating a second soak.

After saturday, they will be living in a heap on the GF's bedroom floor for four weeks, so I'll wait untill after then before I decide if they are going to get a second soak (or go in the WM).

first time i soaked them probably around 50 to 60 degrees and the 2nd time i gave them a boiling hot soak. added boiling water to 60 degrees water in the ratio 3:1. gave them some slight agitation as well. should have gotten most if not all shrinkage out. i know boiling water destroys the denim but i was looking for a slightly trimmer fit.

I don't think boiling water destroys the denim, at least not this denim ;-)

I've washed my SD203 at 95 °C (I was idiotically hoping to shrink a sanforized pair). Except a destroyed leather patch nothing happens, especially no shrinking. But the denim developes beautifully, so I don't think this will harm the ROYs.

I'm not sure why everyone is re-soaking their jeans for a tighter fit when there appears to be nothing wrong with their fit. I for one think these look better with a more relaxed fit. My understanding was that was the intended fit of these jeans, rather than the typical SuFu sized down fit.

Me too. Although my fit looks slim, it's the loosest pair of jeans I've worn in recent years (I'm a tall skinny dude). It will be interesting to see how many people opt for a second soak for a slimmer fit.

Yeah, this was my intention too. But you won't get a looser fit from a straight cut if it's trim fitting PREsoak...but hey:

Indeed, it doesn't. At least, 95 degrees doesn't, which is about the hottest you get in a washer. It's dryers that aren't good for the denim.

ThisSunday, my pair are also fading at a similar rate to yours, except with less whisker definition...I can't wait to see those with tighter fits as they no doubt have even crazier hues coming through by now...Paul T should have no trouble catching up!

i hate to think what you guys pay for icebreaker... the retail price here hurts enough (i stocked up on it when i got 70% off wholesale a few years ago)

today i went to school to sort my classroom out

i tore down all the out dated crap from the walls

and most importantly made my roll book look good

last year i had one covered in aitor throup sketches, the girls thought they were yuck "why dont you like nice stuff miss?"

then i met up with mr for lunch and got his keys so i could go to his place and do an end pour in his boat

but first, here is mine, so close to finished

and had a swing to kill some time / procrastinate

Nice kayaks TG, we have a local outfit that makes kits for stitch and glue kayaks that are similar. A friend of mine put one together, but I can only imagine yours come out with a slightly better finish.
