Washed my chonies. Drying right now. Bled like a sumbitch. My jeans are starting to lose some stiffness and stretch out a bit more. Duck pockets softening up and I think these babies will deliver.

I was trying to take pics of the unbleached weft against the bleached warp yarns near the selvage. Couldn't quite pull it off though.

I wish there was more daytime for pics, but I go to work when it is dark and get home when it is dark and the lighting in the house is shit until the weekend when we get some good ole natural light in.

Farhad and Dkatz, sorry I missed y'all. We all could have pulled off a nice drive by in beverly hills or knocked off a Brinks truck. They never would suspect some privileged denim clad nancy boys.

I had grand visions of posting something as cool as zissou's shopping post, or with the artistry of fardin... but when I went out shopping I was asked to leave my camera at the door. I got this guy home, I feel like the Roy's are my good luck charm as I found this and a ton of other goodies while I was out.

Finally had some time to take a couple fit photos from the last two days. It has been a rough last week here. Included a photo of a new knife my buddy got me from Christmas to help break the jeans in. Denim feels really rough right now but should break in really well. My photos might not be sized correctly, I like'em that way. Thanks Jayrock and lmaozedong for the negative feedback.

My Roys and I moseyed on up to the other end of the block to one of my favorite stores. It's a western/hardware store that's been around for about a hundred years. Yes, that's a giant cowboy boot on the side of it.

Very cool! I wish there was a store like that near me.

Can't wait for the bandanna from dkatz, it's the only thing missing in my competition gear.

Quick update regarding the denim.

After a cold soak and hot wash, the fabric looked very different from it's raw state (very similar lighting conditions: same time of day, same room, same weather)...

Raw:

Post-wash:

The denim has lost it's green/grey tone and is now a nice, dark indigo

The denim has also stretched quite a bit in the waist - shrank down to around 33.5 inch, and after approximately 12 hours of wear has stretched out to 34.5 (I did wear them damp for a couple of hours).

A thought just occurred to me: it would be awesome if one of the contestants photodocumented the evolution of the denim at a daily interval (thinking of sidneylo's 365 WAYWT, or that one girl that combined photos of travels around the world in her Levi's). Allright, soaking the traditional way without the waistband (30 minutes for 40-60°C). After that I'll soak the waistband with cold water, roll'em up in a towel, leave 'em hang drying and hope for the best:
