Picked up a 5D Mk III yesterday. Testing out how fast the AF really is... it's pretty fast...

Congrats man! With the exception of the AF how does it compare to the 5D2? Well... if you have the 5D2. Also what did you use to shoot the bee?

Thanks! I didn't have the 5D2 so I can't tell you how it compares. I can tell you that it blows my 1DIII out of the water though. The bee was shot with a 24-70 f2.8L @ 70mm @ 1/1250 sec, f6.3, 400 ISO.

can anyone help me out for which cam to go, when going fullframe!?

atm i´m shooting with nikon d5000.

...thinking about getting the nikon d700 (with 24-70mm 2.8G) or the canon 5d mkII (with 24-70mm 2.8L)!

...any opinions on why nikon or why canon?

Nikon has a better focusing system and buttons, canon has more megapixels and has always seemed sharper and better colors IMO than Nikon so they both have their trade offs. It boils down to what's more important to you and what you intend on using it for.

Its all personal opinion, since youre Nikon, might as well stick with that format. Then again, the big game changer for both of these options youve listed is the mkII's video capability. If youre not interested in messing with that, Id stay with the Nikon counterpart.

Ah, well the fact that it blows the 1D3 out of the water is quite impressive. And that bee shot is very impressive as well. I swear, I will sit outside trying to get bees to be in focus for an hour with my 70-200 and they'll still come out blurry, I need a better focus system than the 5D2 for that.

I'd use a smaller lens than the 70 - 200. I shot these using my 24 - 70 f2.8L shot @ 70mm using my 1D3. Not sure if the 1D3 focusing system is any better than the 5D2 but should be comparable. You just have to patient and let the shutter fly... I think I shot around 250 - 300 shots to get these 2 below. btw - shoot bumblebees as they're a lot slower flying than worker bees...
