Did anyone here ever end up ordering anything from Andy Caroline? They recently released their take on an M-35 and I think it looks nice, reasonably priced too at 24,000¥ + 3,000¥ for international shipping.9 points

Just got back from vacation visiting my parents in Florida, first time traveling with our daughter and she did great! I've heard it gets much more difficult once they're a little older so we decided to take this trip now. Didn't wear the jeans much outside of travel days, but giving them another wash today so I'll update with post wash pics. Got some crazy rain in central Texas while we were away, came back home to our roof slightly leaking but fortunately nothing was damaged. Taking it all in. Walking to the beach with Pawpaw. She really loved the sound of the ocean and did well in the pool too! Always eat as much seafood as I can whenever I'm near the ocean. Saffron and seafood risotto. Grilled out for the 4th. So long, until next time. Heading home. Pups on the ride back home, Rooney has to stay in kennel jail because he's too crazy in the car...6 points

Think this is some of the heaviest fades I've come across so far of the Warehouse Greenbaum denim. Getting cigarette burn repair at Rockets https://www.instagram.com/p/DLRA2K-TWNK/?img_index=14 points

Another 50s jeans options by Toys McCoys: https://earthmarket-japan.myshopify.com/en/products/tmp2304?srsltid=AfmBOor7MLUL6KAVdHy4i5Q5QQcmst2O15vUVLZEDZeyvnbWl5UfOKGY They seem to be more active again in terms of jeans? They also have a Marlo Brando version of these jeans (tapered with wide selvedge), Lee 101 and some 70s bootcut jeans3 points

Groover also do some 50s style acetate frames with wire nose pads. Not sure if they’re as nice as Hakusan but they do seem to have a few North Americans / overseas stockists https://spectacles.groover.tv/dealers/3 points

thanks @Le Clown Bleu- you can find some things at Goodies Oxford, Peggs & Son Brighton, and The Bureau Belfast. A couple of images of these went out in the newsletter I just sent out, but here are some more details. The best-worn pair of Weaver's Blanket Denim trews I've seen, very kindly brought in by a long-time customer and great friend of the brand. Note the twill switching at various points:3 points

I just couldn’t let these 30s contest jeans sit! @theguywhoknewthatguy had these listed in the sale section for a few months and thought someone else would join us, so I waited patiently. No one snapped them up! So I guess I have a 2nd pair of contest jeans-hope I’m not doing anything illegal! Cant imagine wearing them as much as my original pair, but we’ll see. #1922 points

"Ma Bell, got the ill communications Ma Bell, got the ill communications Ma Bell, got the ill communications" -The Beastie Boys Been after one of these for a minute. Scarce but not terribly rare MA BELL strike tee, 1971 In July of 1971 workers at Southern Bell (a part of AT&T) went on strike and countless t shirts, pins, flyers, patches etc were made in various designs. This would continue well into the 90s as workers kept pushing back against massive technological change. There would be later strikes (notably in 1983) so this tee could be a from a little more recent history but the single stitch sleeves and hem as well as the simple paper tag seem to confirm the early 70s. Just a reminder: fuck monopolistic greedy corporations and support your fellow worker. Class warfare is an ugly beast and we need more class unity. Too many working class folks are cheering for their own destruction these days.2 points

Hi Carl, I have the exact same issue and i had the same conversation with b_F only a few weeks ago.. i might be able to help, the reason i persuaded him to try Japan Rabbit was.. around a year ago, i found these frames by Hakusan Megane. They're the T-Jerry's (or Jerry's) ..but they're not cheap at around £5-600 on the auction sites (they haven't been in production for many years so it's worth waiting for a good pair) .. meaning they would hit the UK border at £800, i'd struggle to get my money back should i not be entirely happy with them.. I'm in a health scheme so i get my cost of optical back.. therefore i can buy a pair of fancy frames and my health scheme covers the cost of an eye test and replacement lenses every 12mths... i've been wearing the same frames for the last 7yrs so over that time.. it spreads the cost. They have the wired cushions at the nose.. ..which i need for all frames, for one it stops them constantly slipping down my face but for me.. i have a slightly wonky nose therefore, to enable me to sit the glasses symmetrically on my face, i have to move one cushion slightly in and one cushion out.. i can't do this with most acetate frames so i don't but them for reading glasses. I found a similar looking pair at our local opticians without the wired nose cushions.. and took all the sizes.. measuring them up accordingly to see if they would suit me.. but if you want to wait for actual dimensions.. the glasses should land here at some point next week.1 point

Paging @Dr_Heech July 12th, 2002, Chicago Illinois. I had just seen The White Stripes at Cabaret Metro in Chicago and I was high on life and I noticed some young punk out front was wearing a faded two sided vintage Scientifically Treated Petroleum t shirt. In 2002 The White Stripes had just began their meteoric rise to super stardom and I had just seen the greatest live rock and roll show of my life. The crowd was buzzing. We all knew we had just witnessed greatness. Seven Nation Army would come out the following year and for a brief time TWS would become the biggest band on the planet. And it would decades before Jack White would return to the Metro. Without hesitation I asked him how much he wanted for the t shirt. You see years earlier I had become enamored with the STP logo because my grandfather wore a quilted blue winter puffer coat that had some patches on it. Like many folks from his generation he kept everything until it was used and in tatters. This jacket was faded and dirty and I loved it. My grandma HATED it and that just made it more valuable to me. The punk kid said $5. I gave him a ten dollar bill. He took it right off his back and walked off. It became a reminder of that great night of music and it helped that STP was a nice abbreviation of STRIPES. (It also became the night I bounced my drunken best friend from the bar next door which led to him deciding to get sober but that's a different story.) Fast forward two decades and I found two NOS in mint condition on Velva Sheen tees for sale. They had lower quality transfers instead of the beautiful discharge print my OG had but the tees themselves were identical so obviously I couldn't pass them up. One has about a half dozen wears and the other is staying fresh for now. You can see the difference between the prints below: All three shirts together below. You can see how much the transfer on the newer shirt has degraded with just two washes. The OG shirt below. Those pit stains need attention and OXY. Paper thin And the newer shirt. All of the tees are printed on 60s/70s era Velva Sheen. Back print comparison1 point

3009, wasn’t too keen on these but the measurements fit the bill. Having a dozen of so pairs that I retire after a couple years, I told myself I’ll machine wash these often and wear them until they’re beyond repair. Didn’t care for the vertical fading at first but that has seemed to vanish. Extremely fast fading, these aren’t even at 2 years yet. Darned the crotch professionally and doing self repairs now. By far the best fitting slim straight pairs I’ve owned. also I wanted to add, I believe washing maching significantly increases fabric wear. The first photo was right before a wash, then the last 2 photos show fraying in several spots including the knees, right after a gentle cycle no spin1 point
