After about 14 years with these Red Wings, I think they look worse with age! They’ve been resoled twice and were a half-size too small (as I bought them in a half-price sale and @almostnice kindly told me they’d stretch a bit) so I could only ever wear them with thin socks. They’ve been my dog walking boots for the last few years but now the sole has no grip so they’re of no use in muddy parks and I just wear wellies in the winter instead. In addition to the 2 resoles at the Vibram shop (neither as robust as the original sole), they’ve also had the mocc toe stitching repaired. Overall, I’ve really enjoyed wearing them and I’ve a pair of their Chelsea boots in ebony harness leather with a black crepe sole - I’m over the white. Anyway, today they go in the bin. Farewell old buddies, it’s been a pleasure!10 points

@Broark those are really cool!! I am after something a little more conventional but i'd love to see pics of those if you end up getting them. @yung_flynn those Randy's trousers are great, i'll look for those in my size elsewhere online, that's about the closest i've seen so far to what i'm looking for... Honestly seeing the variety of results from you all here is kind of vindicating me, i was feeling really dumb for not being able to find what seems ( to me ) to be such a timeless-seeming, classic-fitting pair of pants anywhere, and as this page shows there are any number of options that are very close in some ways, a little off in others... just very strange that it's been so hard to track down. But I am considering a few options (Buzz x William Gibson, Nuu, Randy's are the closest -- thanks you guys) and will maybe end up ordering a couple of them to compare. I appreciate all the help! To be honest the entire reason I even want these is because i've been haunted by a man I saw walking on the side of the road while riding my motorcycle back through northern Sinaloa... he was dressed in some worn-out black work pants and boots, and a brownish-reddish work shirt; I just rode past him in an instant, we had no interaction, but for some reason his outfit was so memorable to me; I had spent seven months without buying, or even being tempted by, a single garment, but in that moment I had this mad desire for a pair of pants like that and have been slowly hunting for them ever since.7 points

I was wearing black jeans and a blue denim jacket last week and got 2 (!!) random public compliments on it. That is not so common. While fully aware of my sartorial subversiveness/terrible taste, I had to giggle a little inside.7 points

Starting to have a mini clear-out... please see eBay where my daughter is at the wheel... including the vintage SC47s, Post Overalls, Joe McCoys etc... plus anyone remember a German fella who made bespoke shirts under the moniker Jan Schmidt? I think he may have been Nieterhosen on here... anyhow I have a chambray he made me going up on there too which is too small for me... ping me on here if you're interested for Sufu rates... grazie4 points

They’d blend in well as they’re the same colour as the pots. This morning I had to rebury one of my daughter’s dead mice that had been dug up by a fox overnight!3 points

Certainly not a well washed chore coat.. new black trousers with well worn denim just isn't visually appealing. It doesn't even work as a larp.. it's just not a cohesive outfit.. think about it, clothing back then was insanely expensive, one would have at least 9 kids to support and a wife if she hadn't already died from either tuburculosis or childbirth.. on the salary of a labourer? A pair of fancy trousers would set you back the equivalent of 3 months wages.. so why would one buy them to pull on your chore coat and go work down the old asbestos mine? ..you wouldn't .. if the trousers were beat to fk.. patched at the knee, torn hem, pulled in at the waist.. this would make absolute sense, your wife had probably bought them at market with the spare change she made as a domestic servant and repaired them for you to wear at work. The pants would work better with something like a sack coat.. just a few steps up the working-class food chain.. maybe the look of a factory worker or engineer.. alas, i'm not a stylist, just a contributor to a once great denim forum so what do i know? They do look perfect with the sweatshirt tho.. highwaist, loose pants with short fitted sweat *chefs kiss* 😘3 points

welp, at 1050eur for j47a-e, i gotta admit this could be the first big step in the right direction for acrnm. not only did they manage to execute one of their most popular jackets in a desirable fabric, but they did it at a fair price. maybe this was a shot in the dark, or maybe….just maybe… we’re going to finally get what we’ve always hoped for. og acr at fair prices.2 points

Probably not exactly what you're looking for @chicote but I'm thinking about getting these Grunts trousers from Freewheelers.1 point

Remember years ago @Broark when we’d get a supertrash or techwear cohort trolling the shoes thread, ridiculing our footwear.. posting pairs of Half Cabs with just a few weeks wear on them. Ah, I miss those days of cross forum derision .1 point

Ooh! do they have the much fabled penis balcony? I think the edgy 'goth ninja' quickly became 'mall ninja' .. alas now 'patio ninja' seems to be the final resting place of that sub-culture..1 point

@srudy Theoretically never... They are a good waist fit as is. I may be looking into dry cleaning, or some home remedy imitation of that. I'm also considering building some kind of wooden rack to preserve the length in the event that I need to turn the hose on them at some point of inevitability.1 point

Fake Japanese license plate I designed! My name in Kanji 海琉/Kairu/Kyle where the prefecture kanji would go My birth month/day 3/19 next to it, which is also in the correct 300-number range for a passenger car with > 2.0 L displacement, "Ro" hiragana for the first two letters of my last name And 77401, the zip code of where I grew up! Color is green on white, also accurate for a > 2.0 L displacement passenger car in Japan. It's all a bit silly and tongue in cheek, since, among other things, this is a US-market Cressida and not a JDM car (don't even get me started on people who use "JDM" to refer not to Japanese domestic models, but "any car by a Japanese manufacturer.") Big stupid monster trucks are virtually the default vehicle where I live, so you're not off by much! I frequently rant about the absurdities of giant bro-dozer truck culture, and my taste in personal vehicles, inclining toward retro luxury saloons, is very much the opposite of all that. Slammed Cressidas look cool, but I doubt they ride all that smoothly. I don't really want to sacrifice a comfortable, quiet ride for the sake of aesthetics, so I'd only go for a slightly lowered look. The way that I appreciate/use my car is a bit more in line with something like a Mercedes W123 or W124, Volvo 240 or 740, and that sort of thing.1 point

Most recent delivery. Late '45 601xx, I'll be waiting awhile to wash and wear these but it's tempting to throw 'em in the wash now... Obviously I'm a sucker for any and all Great Lakes Mfg. branded gear...1 point
