motorcycles caused me strife

nice dude.

Don't get too carried away, I did the same thing and lost bolts and forgot which ones go where.

What have you got planned for it?

And yea take the MSF, I have the second half of mine tomorrow and it's definitely worth the $250. If you pass you only have to take a form to the DMV to get a license (no riding test) and you get a break on your insurance, saves you money in the long run.

Get a Clymers manual, and get new tires. Take the MSF. Enjoy it, cool little bike, looks like it's in good condition. Be sure to check the tank for rust too.

New tires are on my to-buy list... And I was able to download a manual off the internet, so thats been keepin me in the right direction

MSF hopefully in November!

Ya man im being real careful when im tearing it down. I haven't even ridden it yet cause I needa charge my battery, but starting it for the first time felt real good (jumped it with my car)

Right now I'm just tearing off the parts I dont want (fenders, cargo rack, etc.) and doing routine maiintenance, but my oil drain plug was stuck, and now stripped! anyone got an idea of how to get it off? And where to get a replacement plug?

nice...pics?

just got back from looking at it.

12k miles and clean title but it was in bad shape compared to the photos he gave me. No rear brake fluid, just gone. headlight stopped working "as soon as i showed up", the entire throttle came off the bar while he was revving it, rusty headers and rust inside the tank, choke didn't work and rear brakes didn't light up the rear light. oh and it was idling REALLY high(but of course only as soon as I came).

it was at a tow company and his boss came out in the middle and asked "you got that rusty piece of shit to start?!"

some things really are too good to be true. ended up talking to another guy who has one in the north bay but in "hopefully" great condition for $2,000

Let me know if im posting too much of my bike in here...

Anyway, heres how it sits now after a couple days. Stripped everything off i didnt want, stripped the tank (might paint it white later, sprayed it with WD-40 to prevent surface rust), switched to clubman bars (having trouble removing controls from original handlebars, and probably will see trouble putting them on clubmans)... Need to get new tires and change oil, then I think I'm good to go, for now.

So horrible story...

Drove from the Bay Area down to SLO to pick up a 1981 Honda CB750F Super Sport in Silver and blue. Guy listed it for $950 in practically mint condition. The seller had bought it in almost perfect cosmetic condition from a barn find. He had a guy who specialized in old inline-fours to work on it and basically rebuilt everything from the carbs back. New tires, new calipers, etc. the works.

I end up getting to SLO around 10PM and don't want to call the guy so late. Find a shitty motel to knock out at and wake up at 7AM to call the guy. Find out a couple awful things:

-He sold the bike last night at 10:30PM to some random guy in SLO when he knew I was coming all the way down from the Bay Area.

-Never called me to let me know it was sold or that there were even other offers.

-He lived across the street from the motel I stayed at.

So really fucking shitty and I had just gotten a huge speeding ticket so this trip had to end up with me riding a motorcycle back up.

Go to Cal Poly SLO and just use their computers for a good half hour searching craigslist in LA, SD, OC, Laguna, Riverside, etc. and end up with a list of 5 Honda CBs of various generations and cc's. End up in Laguna Beach and pick up the exact same model bike and color for $1100.

Mint condition as well and the previous owner had restored it to being an awesome bike. Replaced the chain, both tires, rebuilt the carbs and top end. The clutch is slightly worn but he gave me a box of rebuild kits and parts including.. an entire wiring harness, an entire clutch, sprockets, chain, manual, a couple other things.

Can't wait to ride Highway 1 all the way to SF...

i recently had my first accident. i was on some dirt road way out in the desert. let me say that if i hadnt been wearing my helmet, i might not have made it back. also, if i had broken a leg or something, i would have been in real trouble. no cell phone reception out there and no riding buddy.

wear your gear and bring a friend, thats some free advice right there.

sucks to hear that but at least you're in one piece. what were you doing to do that?

also, watch out for leaves on turns... started sliding on highway 9 coming out of a turn. gave it full gas and backed it out. still kinda scary on such a heavy bike.
