I love this thread. Some seriously talented eye's taking photos.

corporalclegg's photos of SF make me incredibly jealous of your city.

I wanted to ride my SS bike through California this summer but I don't think my ankle will be strong enough to do it this year.

railroad revival tour last night

P1000930.jpg

the train arrives

P1000946.jpg

old crow medicine show was first, accompanied off and on by that mumford guy in some silly sunglasses and the trumpet player from magnetic zeros. alex from magnetic zeros popped out for a hot minute and danced around before wandering around the back of the stage and then disappearing

P1000953.jpg

edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros on second

anyone who's been to one of their shows: what's jade's deal? a lot of the time she seems like she doesn't want to be there. the first time i saw them she disappeared for about twenty minutes and left the rest of the band kinda twiddling their thumbs and trying to get her back up. last night she literally hid behind the piano half the time, barely sang the other half, and when she did sing she mumbled off time. it definitely took a toll on their set too, because they had to take a break for about ten minutes to give her a pep talk or something and when they performed "home," the only song where she really needed to sing, the whole thing felt very perfunctory. bad news, because they're my favorite band there and the previous two concerts of theirs i saw are some of the best i've ever seen

relocated and watched mumford & sons from a distance. much cooler back here.

Today I went to the Library of Congress for a George Crumb concert. The man himself was there and gave a preconcert talk. Absolutely mind blowing. He's 81 years old, and it was great to see him in real life. I was first online for tickets, and he walked up to me and asked me where he could find a bathroom. I had a mini freak out.

This performance was a selection of his folk songs. The works are for 4 percussionists, prepared piano, and vocalist. Hands down the greatest performance I've ever seen. There are over 140 percussion instruments on the stage...

Second was a performance of a cello piece by Tan Dun. Well played and very emotive, but the George Crumb was a hard act to follow.

anybody familiar with bread on a stick?just put a lump of yeast dough around a twig and hold it over the fire.usually results in a piece of charred bread, but the kids love it.

sup James. Spring is a busy time of year. Winters are pretty harsh and slow here, house-husband time for carpenters. After I tidy the house and fix things to kiss my wife's ass, there is lots of time left for the internet.

That is not the case now :D

Tonight my friends' families and my family had a big dinner. All of us met during orientation of school and became good friends so our parents thought it was a great idea to meet each other.

Here is some food art for everyone

This is a fish made out of jello in case you didnt notice

IMG_1292.jpg

This is the wine and champagne we had: the first one was only for the sakura season and it tasted like flowers which was actually not bad. The second one was one of the best plum wines ever made. (i maybe exaggerating.)

This is where we ate

To end: a nice picture of my friends walking in the rain. Notice how the short girl has a small umbrella and the tall guy has a big umbrella.

So this was actually what I was doing yesterday, but I'm always slow getting pictures uploaded. Anyway, I was welcoming HoustonCaroline into the world. Granted, my wife did the hard part... :)

IMG_1238.jpg

And since she's better looking than I am, here's a closer picture. She's probably thinking, "Wow, it's been a tough day. I think I'll take a nap."

IMG_1228.jpg

Happily, she looks a lot like her mother, rather than me. ;D

First week in NYC down. been eating some ridiculous food and finding some killer spots to hang out as well. Today my jeans did brunch at PS450 after recovering from a long night out in the village. walked up 5th ave to central park, then took the train back out to Hoboken for dinner and drinks...expresso keeping me up posting at this hour...ugh.

today it was about time to fulfill my sons desire of a little boattrip

5675724936_e087d58c13_z.jpg

he dreamed of a canoe, but my recent spinal and back disorder told me to choose a pedal boat-also great to build up my floppy leg muscles

5675725230_902faf7476_z.jpg

as floppy as my legs were the pedals

5675159345_68891460e8_z.jpg

crappy looking steering device worked surprisingly well

pedaling, steering and taking pics at the same time needs definitely more practice
