What are your jeans doing today?

Oh yeah, one addendum I forgot to include.

So I was up on that rock with that beautiful valley laid out below me and a Coke settling in my lower intestine and, as has happened many times in my young life, a thought occurred - blaring through internal loud-speakers surrounded by flashing neon lights. It went something like this:

Wow. This is really beautiful.

And, man, I'm pretty high up.

...

I should pee!

And, having already set up my camera for self-timer and whatnot, this happened:

VICTORY!

I have left my mark on yet another continent's pristine beauty.

Dkatz, gorgeous shots. Uganda's beauty never fails to amaze!

And Paul - yeah! Another awesome tour!

Well, today was Father's Day... So we did kids stuff! :)

First, she wanted to try camping, so we set up a little pop-up tent in the backyard. Gorgeous day for it....

We played lots of monopoly

But we were well stocked up on other stuff to do!

What I was wearing....

Then we hit up the playground. Although it looked like it was going to rain, it cleared up!

When we got home, I whipped up a batch of my favorite udon bowl, with steak ... Yum!

Tonight she wants to sleep in the tent - heh, wait til the first owl hoots! ;)

Happy Father's day y'all!

dkatz, no you're not over-posting, those are great stories and lovely photos... you really captured the light, I love those sunsets and the feeling of a good day's work. I can relate to your stories of missing interviewees, tho' mine were usually in places like Bentonia, Mississippi.

tvshooter, great photos again, a real samson and delilah vibe with you and vin!

Dkatz, the bike is a jumble of semi-vintage bits, I got it second hand and it had been powdercoated so I don't know what the frame is, but the I'm rolling on two entirely mismatched wheels (Wolber and Mavic rims), Shimano Deore DX groupset bits, old Sakae cranks, stem, bars etc and some budget hipster bits like the Charge saddle and tape, as well as improvised wine cork bar plugs. It's no masterpiece of expensive bike-building, but it does the job. I use it just about every day and I'd be lost without it!

Riff, I can't rep you more, but the Sammies look great!

Thanks for the info, Dead. I like the hodgepodge ethic of bike-building (also I just miss my bike massively!).

Thanks fardin =)

Also, for context: what my jeans were not doing because they didn't exist yet... August 2007, Cidade de Pedra, West Brazil:

sorry guys if the orange lighting drives you nuts, but the chinese restaurant i was at today loved it. so what they say goes.

had chinese food today at one of my favourite places to eat. imperial treasure. if you're headed out to singapore and want to try good chinese dim sum (which translates to "snacks", not literally), you have to come here.

typical chinese restaurant, but not so typical way of folding their napkins. i like how places have brown tables and white porcelain tableware and black chopsticks. im anal like that. but yes, it makes my dining experience a whole lot better. i hate it when places use plastic plates.

_MG_2527.jpg

had this appetiser thing, apparently they were pickled vegetables, sprinkled with sesame seeds. (its the one in the middle) i love this shit, but at $6 (4USD or around there?) its not so amusing. but i still make an effort to order this EVERYTIME im there. just because its that damn good.

_MG_2530.jpg

girlfriend ordered the duck tongue. yes, duck tongue. was never really a fan of this on the past few visits, but somehow im starting to like this shit more. the texture of this is like calamari, but the taste of it is one of a kind. really fragrant, cant think of any food ive ever eaten that tastes similar. probably the closest would be braised chicken but still not that close. you have got to try it to know.

_MG_2541.jpg

ordered the roast goose vermicelli. its one of the signature dishes here and this is really amazing. the skin is really crispy after being roasted in a huge pot and the skin is really fragrant. definitely much better than fried chicken. the broth of the vermicelli was amazing (no vis) and its a pretty light dish. real good.

_MG_2544.jpg

steam rice rolls with barbequed pork on the inside. these are a staple breakfast food and is really light. served with sweet sauce typically, this one wasn't served with sweet sauce but was just as good.

_MG_2548.jpg

had siew mai which is my favourite. its steamed pork and served piping hot in a bamboo basket. they are apparently cooked in these baskets and served as such. the best combination for eating these would be with sweet chilli. they're about the size of golf balls and are one of the more popular dishes in dim sum.

_MG_2549.jpg

then we ordered the BBQ pork buns as well. amazing stuff. some people like them with lots of filling but i find it kind of overwhelming. these are made of steamed flour with BBQ pork stuffed inside. they're amazing and fluffy and the pork is sweet and the juice just trickles into your mouth.

_MG_2551.jpg

heres how they look inside. pretty amazing. these are a pretty common find but for the good ones, you need to know where to go to. but nonetheless this is one of the better places to eat BBQ pork buns.

_MG_2552.jpg

after lunch, the girlfriend surprised me with these. fucking inventory magazine. we do have it in singapore but it ran out, so i was pretty fucking happy when she managed to get some from sydney. good pictures, good write ups, lots of things to lust for. orgasmic bitch.

_MG_2539.jpg

proceeded to hang out for a while, get errands done, buy some stuff and headed home where i found this waiting for me. hard as fuck to find in singapore, had to ebay it. -_-

_MG_2558.jpg

more chinese food tomorrow. till then stay safe sufu fam.

Not entirely ontopic, but here some pics from my trip to Budapest last March. Lived there for about 6 months and decided to visit some friends again.
