i think dino's posts are some of the only ones in which i

understand all of the words.

but! i don't need to know how to read to eat so,

i keep it real

I have honestly never tried pulled pork here in NJ/NYC.

I hear the pulled pork in the south is infinitely better.

it is. hands down. laughingbuddha took me to a joint in BK that had some tastey stuff but you cant beat the eats down here if thats the sort of thing youre looking for.

same place has the catfish, cornbread, fried okra, black eyed peas... soul food and bbq to no end. shit is legit.

Shouts out to Dino and TeeGee.

Poached egg on a salad of frisée with warm bacon dijon vinaigrette paired with Brasserie Cantillon's Classic Gueuze (spontaneously fermented, 1-3 year barrel aged, sour-cheesy-funktastic beer).

Next course: Wild foraged hedgehog mushroom and sauce mornay macaroni gratin.

Next morning, Brunch: Quiche florentine (a different quiche recipe that calls for the filling to be mixed in a blender to get a soufflé-like texture) and a cup of Peet's coffee with Bailey's and hand whipped cream.

where u go in dallas breh?

at the very least, can always rely on the generic

"la carniceria" grocery store for some fairly authentic grime.

only order in spanish(this is crucial), and they got those glass bottle cokes.

also they stock tahitian treat.

You know, all over. Depends what I'm feeling at the time...the selection is the greatest thing.

Got generic tex mex at El Fenix and a whole slew of others (Joe T's in Fort Worth is always fun, if not only for the atmosphere). Got legit tacos and shit over on Henderson and Ross/Greenville area (not to mention in Irving, where I actually stay when I'm not at school in Austin). Got more yuppie/contemporary stuff at Taco Diner and joints like that.

And then Taco Cabana and Taco Bueno for chain fast food are my go-tos.

Austin is probably even better selection-wise. I've been really digging this place called Zocalo lately, if anyone happens to be in the Austin area. Fits into the more contemporary whitewashy places, but still fuckin great. Best tortilla chips I've ever had, probably. Then all the taco trucks and shacks on the east side.

Point is, hit me up if anyone is ever in Dallas or Austin. Mexican food will flow like water (may be out the butt, though).

not my picture, and not today, but you get it (from that Zocalo place):
