Kiya do you have any other workshirts (as opposed to western style) coming to Self Edge this winter?

The Self Edge Sea Chambray Shirt

A long while in the making, the Self Edge Sea Chambray Shirt is finally available...

Our take on a classic western chambray shirt stays true to classic stylings but adds a few twists. The front pockets have been flipped, pocket flaps are a curved arcuate shape, and the buttons are a little different than what's normally found on a vintage shirt like this.

The chambray used is part of Cone's White Oak collection, this Sea Green Indigo Dyed shade has immense character for a chambray and is sure to age beautifully over time.

Modeled by Pete of Native Elements and shot by Sidney Lo.

Check the product pages for hi-res photos, specs, measurements and more information. Available now in-store and in our online store:

B.Son Smoke Black Slub Mock Pullover - SELF EDGE EXCLUSIVE

B.Son and Self Edge have gotten together for a fresh take on their popular Mock Pullover. A simple piece that's turned into an extremely popular item here at the store has been remade now with a new fabric.

Not only was this piece cut and sewn in San Francisco but the fabric itself was also woven here. This mock pullover is now available for a limited time in a smoke black 100% cotton slubby fabric. The fabric has massive character and is difficult to photograph, but is one of the most interesting woven cotton fabrics we've seen out of the B.Son camp.

Available now in-store and via our online store, these were made in a small run, once gone there will be no restock:

So...

I've started wearing a new pair of jeans as of last friday..

A pair of Real Japan Blues jeans.. I feel like the first time i wore a pair of Flat Head's 3XXX denim jeans, where i'm watching it fade as every day goes by, and the color is so intense and the fading is coming through so quickly that's almost surreal.

It's weird, because i've only seen this type of fading on Flat Head's denim, but this denim from Real Japan Blues is completely different than FH's 3XXX denim.

It's exciting to be releasing something with a denim that looks this promising that very few people have any experience with..

Between these, the Dry Bones Contest Jeans, the Triple Works Collaboration, and other stuff coming down the pipe, it sounds like 2009 is going to be a year of new and interesting denim at Self Edge.

I got quite a few PM's regarding the RJB jeans... mostly people wanting some more general info.. Here's what i recently posted on SF about them:

Zimbabwe long fiber cotton that's been open end brushed, so it's quite soft once worn for a few months.. Pure indigo dyed... 100% cotton thread.... The denim is quite dark at first... once soaked it becomes SUPER hairy, almost more hair than Flat Head's 3XXX denim.. Weft is a natural light color..

The 106 is a slim model with a straight leg and a zipper fly, the 105 is a classic straight leg fit with a button fly. Both come with argyle black leather patches and the RJB logo embroidered onto the top left side of the right pocket.

Why am i explaining this?

Why don't i just take a photo.. where's sid?

crap my post got deleted.

Hey kiya,

how long does it usually take to hem some jeans?

I was thinking of driving to SF drop them off in the morning, hang around and at the end of the day pick them up. possible?

Can be arranged if you slip Doc Pop an Andrew Jackson.

Double Boomtime Winter Flannels from Flat Head

Over two years ago when we met Mr. Kobayashi, the founder and president of Flat Head, for the first time he was wearing a shirt which we fell in love with instantly. We couldn't believe the quality of the fabric and how much character there was within the pattern of the flannel, it was this shirt he was wearing...

From Flat Head's new Winter line, made of a heavy flannel comes these new super comfortable flannel shirts made of 100% Zimbabwe cotton where the interior of the shirt has been combed to a super soft feel.

The fabric is woven on a vintage loom and therefore has a very three dimensional pattern due to the shuttle loom and also the heavy gauge of thread used to weave the flannel.

The shirt is available in three colors, and are available only as one run with no restocks. All come with selvedge side seam accents and mother of pearl inlay snap buttons including the self edging fabric running up the inner seam of the front of the shirt.

The Winter Flannel is modeled by Mission Badass Josh Harris and shot by Sidney Lo. Check the online store for hi-res photos, specs, and more information:

me too, but it's gonna be too slim for my chest at size 40 but too wide at the shoulder for size 42 :(

That's impossible because the increments which the sizing on these shirts goes up at is quite small, the grading is done so that between sizes there isn't that big of a difference... especially considering you can control how much it shrinks by how you end up washing your shirts.

I am trying to shrink my flathead navy chambray size 42 to 40... is that possible?

Right now it fits a bit big after a cold soak so I just did a hot soak.

Hot soak/wash it then throw it inside out in a dryer on high for 30 minutes...

Is the most that they'll shrink is .5 inch everywhere?

Yes, but 1.25" in the waist and 2.5" in the length.
