I thought I would post an update of my wallet. I made this in june of 2006.

Here´s what it looked like new.

The beads are long gone after I got stuck in the car seat adjustment mechanism one too many times.. Most of the stitching is gone as well. When I made this I didn´t know anything about working with leather, so I didn´t cut a groove to lay the stitches in. I don´t know what´s holding it together anymore.

I think I´m going to make myself a new wallet soon.

Here´s the inside. I´m not that happy with the layout of the credit card side of the wallet though. I should also have paid more attention when I chose the leather for the credit card slots.

I used this guide:

The thing to remember is to make sure the shiny side is out when you braid. Sometimes you may need to adjust it as you go along. It's really quite easy once you get the hang of it. The leather strands I used were around 3mm wide and 1mm thick.

Be sure to post results if you make one!
