question for the analog guys. whats the best way to remove negatives that are stuck together? also, more importantly, I have medium format negatives i really want to scan in, but one negative in particular has adhesive gunk (dried). Whats the best way to remove it without harming the film?

I'm a newbie to film myself, but perhaps you can try soaking both sets of negatives in a tank of highly diluted photo flo (about 1:200 ratio with water) for about ten minutes, then hang them to dry in a dust free place and see if that loosens up/cleans the film. Photo flo can be bought at any photography specialist store.

yeah - like fade to black said, just soak w/ photo flo for a while, maybe use a sponge or something to gently get the gunk off, or maybe it'll come off when you squeegee it.
