Ouch! ..we got pummeled at Myrtos beach, the waves were f'kin massive!.. way too big to swim, we couldn't get past the breaks.. nobody could so we were diving into the breaking waves which were throwing us back to the beach.. even the water making it's way back to the sea was powerful enough to drag my kid off his feet.. Our side of the island is sheltered by the Greek mainland but t'other/Myrtos side of the island is just the Ionian sea all the way to the boot of Italy so nothing stands in the way of the waves. Being pebble.. the small pebbles wash in to the shore but the larger pebbles.. tennis ball size and below are being whipped up by the force of the water and thrown into the breaking waves so you're being hit by the wave along with the stones.. our knees and ankles are cut, i've got 2 cuts to the top of the head where i dived into a wave and was hit on the head by a stone.. my kids got a black eye! The back of our ankles are sore af because the waves chuck the small pebbles onto the beach along with the water...then drags them back into the sea so all the small pebbles were constantly hitting us in the back of the ankles as we were stood waiting for the big'uns to come, like being pebble-dashed.. we didn't really feel the pain till we got out. My mrs took some videos..i'll try and upload/link them to Flickr if i can figure it out from her phone. I'm mildly fascinated by the folks who own the yachts.. i've got no clue how much these things cost but damn.. they look expensive! with all their tech and radar biz.. the older folks i assumed have downsized their houses to afford such a luxury but the sexy 20-somethings and their even sexier girlfriends who just sail around the med like f'kin Duran-Duran.. how do you even earn a living to pay for the damn thing when you're living offshore? ..and if you do work onland, where the hell do you keep it? Most of them are flying the Greek flag so the economy ain't that fucked! They leave the harbour in the morning and come back at 7pm for a shower at the harbour and an evening meal.. The boats which can't fit into the harbour, drop anchor in front of our house.. my kid took these pics on his Pixel 6 (i'm not sure if the sea looks weirdly high-def or just weirdly-weird) When this bad-ass looking catamaran parked up in front of our house.. i said 'what the hell, It looks like some kind of James Bond supervillain'.. ..in reply my kid said 'why do you think that one looks like a villain.. because it's the only boat which isn't white? Hmm yes, it just looks more intimidating being black and grey.. jeesus dad.. enough of the yacht-racism!.. wtf! I've said it before and i'll say it again.. "fkin zoomers?!" I've been walking down to the village in the morning to buy pastries for breakfast while the lazy fk'ers sleep.. ..every day we've been eating pana-chocolate.. Danish pastries, warm apple strudel and all the other traditional Greek delicacies straight from the oven.. ..the woman who owns the bakery is just wonderful.. 80+ years old and you wouldn't meet a happier person.. her husband is usually nodding off in the chair because he still gets up at 4am to do all the baking.. we've eaten at every restaurant in the village and the bread served looks and tastes exactly like hers, all from this mixer and small oven ..l'ill mantis, hanging out on the grape vines .. i wasn't going to pick this one up.. sat on the roof of our car, looks like it wants to kick my ass just for taking it's photo ..dope af Lada Niva pano9 points

current rotation Thrifted apc new standards from early 2020... they had some bad marbling that washed out with a lot of washes... the fit is actually pretty nice... I usually just use these for hiking with the dog and working in the yard. Warehouse 800xx from Ebay from spring 2020... the fit is really nice, but I have to repair some of the stitching after every wash... the denim has a little too much texture for my liking... I wish they would have washed out more... I babied them when they were new but now treat them as a nicer pair of beaters. Lee 101 70s riders from fall 2020... These were always too big... lots of dog walks and yard work... many washes and and trips through the dryer... I like the color they faded to Levi's 551tm Z cotton/hemp from 2020... always beaters and washed a lot... sometimes after every wear if they got dirty enough Freewheelers 601xxc from 2022 ... still mostly babying these... I should stop so I can catch up to Shredwin's pair Since it's been so hot I'm going like 3-5 days between washing them, a little longer with the 37s9 points

Day 1 in the 01s. Gave a hot soak and vigorous hand wash yesterday. Took a chance on the size 31 some months ago since the deal was good and everything but the waist looked to shrink up okay per measurements. Definitely the smallest 31s I’ve worn and definitely a little snug up top but I think these will stretch out okay…and maybe I’ll tack on some time to my running and rowing days….and if I’m in denial I’ll know in a few days. Haven’t spent a day in true raw jeans in a long time, almost forgot how it feels. *Edit to a day later and I have to say, I think these are my favorite pair (at least at the beginning of the journey) that I've had yet. They've stretched out perfectly - they don't even feel snug now, they just feel like they fit - and at least for me, the cut is about as good as I've ever found. Honestly didn't expect to like them as much as I do, but the little things help - they're cleaner wearing and looking than the '20's I've had on most of the summer, and the pocket bags are just a bit deeper and tougher feeling, etc. I think I'm gonna put everything else aside and focus on these for now, which wasn't really my initial plan.8 points

Buaisou – for those unfamiliar, the best way to find out more is through the website and Instagram. There are some great shots of both their process and products on their Instagram. To get the thread started, this is what they say about themselves… “To thrive in the hometown of indigo dye, BUAISOU was established in Kamiita-cho, Tokushima Prefecture in 2015. All processes, which were traditionally divided into separate specializations, are carried out within BUAISOU; from cultivating the raw indigo, fermenting the indigo leaves (Sukumo), dyeing, designing, all the way to production. We also make efforts in introducing the charm of natural indigo through offering workshops and other various activities. Indigo dyeing is characterized by deep beautiful color and fastness. This is achieved using only indigo leaves, lye, bran, and shell lime. In 2018, we were able to realize our original dream of making indigo-dyed jeans, with each skein of yarn hand-dyed one by one. In the future, our goal is to grow and weave cotton and manufacture jeans using vintage sewing machines”. I notice that the last part – “and manufacture jeans using vintage sewing machines” - was appended after May 2022. They acquired Roy’s old sewing machines which is likely to have enabled this change in ambition. Roy himself paid them a visit in Q1 2023 and in this post he watched them “dyeing skeins of ring-spun cotton yarn that will soon be driven over to the nearby mill, and woven into the most beautiful denim I've ever seen”. So, the journey has started but there is some way to go… I can’t see this thread being the most active for different reasons. However, I know there are a few Sufu regulars with items and interest… so let’s give it a whirl and see what we can collectively muster...2 points

Doesn't seem like there's much activity in this thread but I wanted to share my Greasers that I've had since summer 2018. These are the 15oz Xinjiang cotton black marias. They were incredibly slow faders, but I think they've got a lot of character now. Love the left hand twill, it's made these super velvety soft. The crotch is mostly patches at this point. Also had to bring the waist in an inch. These have been my guinea pig for figuring out how to repair shit with my sewing machine. Love this brand though. Just bought a pair of Smokestacks in the 15oz crosshatch denim and I love the texture of them. Will post pictures of those when they get some fade.2 points

I'm in a little village in the north of Kefalonia... no jeans tho, it's been pushing 40°C for the last week Holiday flat-lay, we all travel light.. from left Vintage warp tee, vintage Supreme shorts (2000 era), studio ghibli tee, vintage Stussy shorts (90s era), Buco tee, Nike swim shorts, Chucks and swim shoes. I picked up a car from the airport (a Peugeot 108 no less) and drove up through the island to the village. Our house is overlooking the sea.. the one covered in grape vines and cicadas which never shut up! ..We wake up to sea views View down the street from under the grape vines Neighbours to the right.. ..and to the left Outside the house is a handrail with steps going down to the sea.. All around the coastline are rocks which from sea level almost look like they're melting, i assume volcanic rock, 1000s of years old from when Kefalonia was pushed up out of the sea leaving this lovely deep bay/harbour. The first night we arrived my kid kept saying that the first thing he wanted to do was swim in the sea.. i talked him out of it, it was dark and 10.30pm, we went for a walk around the harbour instead but due to his powers of persuasion we still ended up going for a swim... till 2am We put the snorkeling gear on in the morning and the sea is just teaming with fish from a vast array of species (or 'brands' as my kid like to say) it's so refreshing to see after all the bad news we hear.. we go snorkeling around the rocks every day, sometimes up to 3 times/day I'm the pasty one on the right Drinking Mythos Hellenic beer.. My kid stroking the neighbourhood cats.. the only thing he asked for this year for his birthday was this AC Milan shirt? There are lots of cats around the village.. i can't really call them strays, they have no owners but people seem to care for them, they roam freely around the restaurants while you're eating, they love a bit of affection.. i went to the market to buy them some cat food but i could only find dog food.. if you look carefully around the streets, there are little piles of cat biscuits (often uneaten) so locals are feeding them... i think they'd rather wait for a bit of leftover octopus We're driving to Myrtos beach tomorrow.. it's only 10mins from here on the other side of the island. ..tbc2 points

Went ahead and preordered a pair—always wanted to try Ooe and always told myself that I’d wait ‘til they brought the 03 cut back, so…2 points

@aho well said I think for those who haven't seen the product, they might view the way it's talked about as hype. People who have worn them speak so highly of them They might make the most perfectly sewn jeans I have ever seen. And in my personal experience they're some of the toughest Looking forward to seeing how those look @julian-wolf1 point

Idk, I'm active on r/rawdenim and I think the "include a paragraph about the jeans" thing is only a suggestion. Lotta posts that don't have any blurb along with them.1 point
