Seconded, 'cept I gotta spread...very nice indeed.

More pics please!

here you go man!

im not really pleased with these pictures, i think the flash really dulled the look of the fade.

so i had these for about a year and a half and i wanted a really vintage-y looking fade so i washed these at least once a month.

oh and i just got the gulls redone so thats why they still look fresh.

These are the Evisu Deluxe Single Needle jean – constructed entirely by one machinist with fanatical attention to detail. Made from a unique Japanese selvage denim developed exclusively for Evisu Deluxe, the fabric is rope-dyed with real indigo and the denim is traditional Japanese ‘green-caste’ which becomes more and more obvious as the jeans wear and the inner core of the warp yarns are exposed.

# 14 oz Natural Vegetable Indigo Denim

# Hand made

# single needle construction

# purple cotton drill lining on belt loops and pockets

Each pair individually signed.

In honor of Evisu Deluxe’s Spring 09 “Kanrin Maru” collection, these jeans have been washed in seawater then dried flat in the sun. Apparently the salt in the seawater hardens the denim and improves the definition of the whiskering and honeycombs that appear with extended wear. These are cut on the new 0038XX Deluxe block with tapered straight legs. It also features button-up pockets inspired by vintage Japanese naval garments.

Hey CTB, got a little dilemma. got some 2000 no1's in a 35. They fit snug right now but i have no problem getting the buttons up (havn't soaked em yet tho). I know you had a bit of sizing issue when you got your 2000 no1's, so what your take on the shrinkage? I figure I they will be fine if I only cold soak em in the future...the waist is the only part thats tight. but this denim seems extra prone to shrinkage. I couldn't really find anything to use in the waistband like did for your soaks. If you could do it over again would you size up one or two? i'm debating sizing up, but also debating a gym membership lol.

I soaked some samurais 0500xx in hot water twice and i didn't really notice any shrinkage except a tiny bit in the waist that stretched back out just fine. so i'm thinking cold soaks/washes from here on out could be just fine.

My honest answer these days? Either size the jeans correctly (up two) or look to get yourself in a position to fit the jeans when they've been soaked...

I don't think 'babying' the jeans, worrying about future shrinkage, is the way forward - been there, done that when I started on my 2000s. Even so, I had to put up with an overhang of some sort, as the intended size of the jeans was too small for my true waist (and belly!).

I think that wearing unsanforised denim without hot-soaking doesn't give it a chance to mould itself to you, and it won't necessarily be correctly proportioned in that particular cut when left unsoaked. This is another argument against deliberately sizing down - if you want to wear a 66 cut (for example), then go true to size post-soak so that you've got the proportions as close to correct as you can ever be with proper raw denim...

On a different but vaguely related note, I managed to shift 21 pounds/a stone and a half with a view to being able to shrink the 2504 Naturals or my Fullcount 1108s without having to stretch out the denim...the irony is that now I've found that my old 2000s and 2101s fit better than ever, and I've got no desire to start on a new pair right now...maybe in the Spring... :D

Well hello there, stranger!

Bit of both, and a low carb, high protein and high fat diet...The weight dropped off, and I never even went hungry...:D Lost a bit of muscle but gained a lot of shape, so all good...

How's the denim coming along?

I bought a pair, well 2 pair of No.3 denim off a member here and one of them went to my cousin in an effort by me to try and get him wearing selvedge denim. So ive been wearing mine for the last 5-6 months and hes coming to stay with me over a weekend soonish so i'll have to do a few comparison shots. He was wearing his raw and I hot soaked/washed mine to get all the shrinkage out so will be interesting to see if theres any difference in the progress of the 2 since they are the same models and we started wearing them together.

I'll have to throw up a couple of shots of mine over the weekend. I realised ive babied my denim too much, when they are nice and new you dont want to rough them up and dirty them but after awhile when they first start to break in you just treat them like any normal workwear and they really come to life. Im thinking i'll start wearing Flashes old 2101's for awhile and see what becomes of those.

Youve got the best pair of Evis/Evisu on the forums and they probably wont get a run around for awhile?? Damn! :D Im a big fan of those Natural Specials and even more so since you got those handpainted in the similar style of the new international gulls. I wish I had those sort of connections down here in Oz :D

Looking forward to the pics! If we have the weather, I'll do the same as my 2000s are at the 2-and-a-half-year mark about now, and need some restorative work doing on the crotch patch that was put on a couple of years ago.

Yeah, lol :o

When I bought my first pair of No.1s, the seller who sold them to me said that No.1 denim proper starts to come into its own after a couple of years or so...at the time, I thought 'fuck that, I want to be starting on a new pair every six months!'.

He was right, of course, as is the same for most quality denim...every so often I think about soaking the Naturals or the Fullcounts but then I think of all the denim that I've got broken in and that will only get better...

This might change in April though, as I've taken advantage of the cluster of Bank Holidays coming up in the UK (one of which is courtesy of our future King-to-be getting married) and booked a couple of weeks off work...might just soak a pair then, and spend some serious time on the bike...

Or I might just fuck off to Ireland, Italy or Greece for a week or two! :D
